The Arpeggiator in Reason is it's biggest weakness. There's a hell of a lot more options they could have used, considering how important arpeggiators are in electronic music. I still like Reason the best because of it's distortion unit which is the best I've heard.

only with Rewire plugin and another software. reason only works with midi. you can output everything for Sonar for example. and record in it.

Many Guys say the sound from reason are not so good by their quality , but thats wrong. When u can use the effects the sound of the samples are so very good. they are then better as fruity loops ore cubase.

Can someone help me out? Im using reason 4. And i remember in reason 3 using the nn19 and importing WAV files into reason. I cant get it to work in Reason 4. When i use the nn19 and choose the wav file to open. it doesnt open...instead its like the pre set organ sound or something.

on the nn-19, theres two buttons above that blue screen, one says '' Select Keyzone VIA MIDI '' and the other '' Solo Sample ''. click the Solo Sample button and your sample should be working or you could remove all the stock sounds which any of those devices load up each time when creating a new device by going to Edit, Preferences and then at the bottom where it says '' Load Default Sound In New Device '', make sure this box aint checked!.

I think that reason has to be the most expansive and creative considering all the reason refills soundbanks you could possibly buy/use, how much that shit would cost, and reason more closely emulates an "analog" modular synth/fx rack workstation. I mean think of all the routed wires you can have behind that monster! FL studio is good for you if you want to start learning, but not if you don't want to limit your creativity.

No offense but this is a pretty dumb question. VSTs are as different from each other as reason's built-in synths are.

It's kind of like asking "Why bother with Thor when you can just use Subtractor?" Thor and Subtractor are completely different synths with different capabilities, different strengths and different weaknesses.

You don't rely exclusively on one Reason synth for every sound in every song on an entire album, so why would you rely exclusively on 3 synths?

Reason's synths are very good, but there's still only 3 of them. If you want to create a wide variety of sounds with a wide variety of sound qualities, you're going to need a wide variety of synthesizers.

No synth on the planet can create every sound you might want, and limiting yourself to 3 synths won't do it either.

I disagree. Other than possibly deep FM synthesis, there isn't much that the Reason synths can't do. I have owned Nord's, and still own a Novation K Station. I also have several soft synths, FM8, Moog sims, and other than probably NI Reaktor, or absynth, I haven't found anything that I would'nt compare to the synth tools in Reason.

Reason Synths dont just stop at using the Mal,Sub or thor, on many occasions i sample synths from other Sources such as a Roland JP8000/Korg MS20 and Stick them into NN19 or NNXT this way You can make a variety of Other sounds straying from the defaults.

Actually you are wrong. FL Studio is written in Borland Delphi and thus is only available on PC (it was never ported to the Macintosh). It can be run through Bootcamp or parallels desktop on a Mac, but there is no native Mac OS version, Reason however does run native in both OS's - in that you are correct.

I had to reinstall my box copy of FL7 from the store the other day, i checked to see if it was mac compatible because i might save up & switch to apple sometime, im too lazy to get the disc and check the install screen again but i'm almost positive it DID have a "mac or PC installation" option

you can export as audio file. wav file. than you can use an external software to convert your wav to mp3. reason doesn't save in mp3 because of it's compression and quality loss in the final audio.

3.-Reason is better for its rack, CV, cables Sequencer, just two super powered synths(ultimatly three) so you dont have to download a lot of VST synths because with the first two you make magic and now with thor you are god.

All I gotta say is Live! and Reason, WOW! The whole of the prodigy's last album was done on a laptop with reason 3 (or so I heard) and is played on Ableton Live. VERY good bit of software and it's so versatile, it allows you to be creative in the building of instruments as well as playing of them.
