Watching this match at the LA Showdown inspired me to get into competitive battling and form a Rain team. =) Don't get me wrong, zerowing is really good, but Chris' team was pretty original - at that tourney at least. This year it'll probably be different, what with Kyogre and Groudon and all...
Actually, I think the event staff had the players "upload" their pokemon from their DS's into 2 different Wiis. Then they fought as if it were two people facing each other over Wifi
this is ok but the guy on the right was horrible, but one thing, does anyone know if no guard makes your allies or opponents attacks perfectly accurate? or how it works exactly in doubles, my brother told me it only raises the accuracy of yours and your opponents, not your allies. But then why would so many use champ, dunno.
tybalti, stop posting this BS about Smogon. It's clear that your Gamefaqs ignorance is showing. A few things you probably don't know, is that the winner has an account at Smogon and that he was doing a lot of "training" with one of Smogon's best Doubles players. Go back to Gamefaqs and post your thoughts about Smogon there. It's filled with crappy threads so yours will fit right in.
Funny, you didn't seem too impressed with his team based on your commentary in Part 2 of the video. 'Can't believe a mono-rain dance team made it this far' or something along those lines. Is that why you deleted my comment? Smogoners need to lose the self-entitled attitude that they deserve to win and everyone else is 'cannon fodder' in their path. Because IIRC, that mentality didn't play out too well at JAA when the people the site made fun of and ridiculed ended up placing higher or winning.
rarely do i delete comments, but that one you made before served no prupose and i have every right to delete it.
And I'm not even really from Smogon to be honest. I post there occasionally, but I am not a fledged member of there(at least I don't consider myself to be); so I really wonder why you are even saying that JAA BS in the first place.
And if you knew anything about competitive pokemon battling you would realize that teams with one type('mono teams') rarely do well. I agree with illasduck, his team was beautfilly constructed, I just was surprised that it made it to the finals and won. he had a good strategy, executed it correctly, and won because of it. If you had read smogon's philosophy, you would understand better.
and yes, go back to watching the anime and your 'water trainers'.
also please don't comment again unless you have something a bit more relevent to this video to say instead of useless comments like 'Smogon elitists loolololo".
By the way, with that team... Chris actually made it to the top 4 of the showdown at Florida. His strategy was going so well in the battle that he lost, but his opponent had some luck hax that turned the battle in his favor. Every little thing in a battle has good potential to change it drastically.
Ok, about mono type teams... That's not entirely true. If you have the proper strategy to go with it, you can win most of your battles (even against type disadvantages). I'm the Dark Master, a mono type trainer myself, and I've actually had more problems with Steel/Psychic types than with Fighting types, ironically. And Fighting type teams are ALSO very powerful (more of in single battle) since they consist mostly of sweepers. And yes, I agree that Chris' team was beautifully constructed.
this is pokemon you dumbshit. the only thing disgraceful here is how ridiculous you're acting about a child's game, lol.
also I'm pretty sure he's not a 'water trainer' or anything queer like that. just a player with an effective strategy that just so happens to rely heavily on water type Pokemon.
There were two TVs facing the audience, and a TV facing each contestant. Each audience TV had each side's moves shown, etc, so it was like the right TV was zerowing's special screen, and the left was 'Hal''s special screen. They could see everything that was going on(what moves he would be using, who he was switching to etc). they did it wifi and not local wireless.
And yes, they saw each other's team before the match. they just saw four and chose four. ;)
I cant wait till the eigtg

Your moves are revealed to your opponent? You're playing with Wii Remote data? That's lame, but I guess it prevents disconnecting.

Why does he put them in disgrace if he won quite handily? >_>

yes, it seemed that the majority of his moves were Surf and Protect. but he was able to win that way, so whatever works for him I suppose.

So, did each finalist have their own personal monitor?
If so, how in the world did that work out? Also, did they get to see each other's rosters before the match?
