  • Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this great song. I haven't heard it for 25 years because I thought it was by The Rockets, not Breathless. (DUHHHHH). I used to hear it on KSHE-FM in St. Louis. Great to hear it again here.

  • haven't heard this since i lived in cleveland about 20 years

  • Just an FYI!

Looks like Jonah Koslen and Stagepass Now will be taking performing at the Kent Stage in Kent, Ohio on Friday, July 30th, 2010. The Kent Stage is the old movie theater in downtown Kent which was renovated. A really nice venue with plenty of seating!

  • WOW! Blast from the past!

  • I know the guy's in TOTO,and they thought Breathless was great. They opened for TOTO in Akron,at E J Thomas hall. They thought Breathless was going to make a name for themselfs in the music industry

  • Yep...they started out the dancing at Dixe (Ohio's entertainment utility) with this song....fantastic

  • Wow...memories seeing these guys at Dixie Electric Co. next to the now de-funked Peaches Records. Good group of musicians that came out of Cleveland & MSB. Two nice albums by Breathless...I still have the LP's...they're not too worn out yet.

  • i grew up in cuyahoga falls just south of cleveland had the pleaser of seeing breathless a few yeas ago in downtown akron it was great!!!

  • Hello artful. You were right. Renaissance Records reissued Koslen & Breathless's recordings (not the original Capitol album though) earlier this yr & they're available for downloads at iTunes, Walmart, Amazon & all those places where you can purchase songs individually (I see some of the fans here have already done so in buying the song &/or album.)

Who flagged this vid? What's wrong w/your posting? If you got permission by the artist to use a song shouldn't that be all that really matters?

  • Unfortunately, the artist is only half the equation, the original label owns the recording. Thus far, they are happy with just tying the ad to the video. It's a great song and both Breathless albums are well worth owning. I'm hoping to convince my band mates to consider covering a Breathless tune. Jonah has regrouped and is performing the entire Stagepass album and several Breahless songs. The project is called StagePassNow, and he tours the Cleveland area. Be sure to check it out!

  • midwest rock genre? donnie iris, head east, marshal crenshaw, henry lee summer, msb, ....

  • I thought this song received air time mostly in St. Louis but it appears to be much wider. This was known as a KSHE classic, KSHE 94.7 being the "real rock radio" of St. Louis back in the day...and somewhat still true today.

  • my mom loves this song alot... im a little hooked into the song though and its nowhere near my gen

  • This takes me right back to Jr. high school... good times.

  • Thanks for posting, loved this song in the 80's so I just purchased through it itunes.

  • love this song and wish it would have gotten some more national attention...

  • Nice work!

  • Well, I have good news and bad news...

good news, it appears that a recording label has reissued the Jonah Koslen & Breathless recordings. You can now purchase individual songs or the album (with live cuts too). Just click on the advertisement links provided. This is great news!

Bad side, this video has been flagged so I believe it is going to have to be removed.

  • I never knew there was a video for this song! Thank you for posting it! I miss this song so much!

  • Well, it's not an official one...

I liked Breathless for years, and it was this song, that was played often on WMMS, that hooked me. I asked Jonah Koslen if I could throw together some videos for a few songs. He gave me the go ahead.

  • Wow! This takes me back to the day when the band played at my high school, Normandy, in Parma, OH. My bandmate at the time, Mike Kubit and I were asked by the school administration to help the road crew set up the stage, because we were in a band and extremely familiar with the process. It was doubly cool, because Breathless was just starting out after the singer, Jonah Koslen exited the Michael Stanley Band. Good memories!

  • had not heard this song since 1979, but always wanted to hear it again, it would pop in my head now and then but I could never find it anywhere. thanks for posting this, now I can hear it and see the video which I never knew about. Another should have been great Cleveland band that didnt make it. Brings back memories of the Buzzard, barely hearing it thru the static on my lousy car stereo in a VW 411, cold w/no heater, 80 miles away in Mansfield....

  • I'm amazed that in Mansfield you could even pick up WMMS at all. I grew up in Canton, and it would be tricky to keep it tuned in at times. Just an FYI, but Jonah is getting together with some other band mates and will be performing at the Cleveland Rib Festival this year. Details are on the event's site.

    Thanks for your comment!

  • the Dixie Electric Company on brookpark and pearl used to start out the dancing with this song..."the dixie electric company....ohio's entertainment utility"

  • WMMS, the buzzard 100.7, jeff & flash. those were the days, how 'bout it ?

  • WOW,THAT REALLY TOOK ME BACK TO HIGH-SCHOOL! THANKS WMMMS & "KID LEO" & ALL THE OLD STAFF AT THE BUZZARD FOR MAKING MY TEENAGE YEARS ROCK!! (i miss the cofee-break concerts)

  • I'm rite there with ya ! Little did we know ,I was @ the Agora for the last coffee break concert ,Blackfoot, & the place burned down that night.

  • Blackfoot was the last concert at The Agora??

  • i met jonha backstage at the beer soaked old cleveland agora .ahhh that was when cleveland rocked

  • Check out new releases at Line Level Music!

  • That's great news on seeing the Breathless material re-issued once again. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, "Nothing's Gonna Change My Mind" is left off the compilation again. When I first did this video, I had numerous requests to put together a video for that song, since people seem to prefer that version to the MSB "Stagepass" version. It would also be great to see Line Level Music put "Live In The Bubble" out again. Thanks for the heads-up!

  • I still have the 1st Breathless LP !!!!!!

  • Aren't both albums fantastic???

I wish Jonah would talk to American Beat Records and see about having both albums reissued on CD since Razor & Tie is long gone. They reissued Donnie Iris' material, and you got the Mark Avsec tie-in...

If you've never heard the second album, it's just as good as the debut, but more of a harder rock edge to it!

    Thanks for the comment!

  • Cleveland STILL ROCKS!!!!

  • You know this is when Cleveland Rocked, WMMS ruled the Airwaves. I thought thease guys were better than MSB. I was just watching Donny Iris. Ah for the good old days!

  • When Cleveland Rocked!!!!

    How true...

    Thanks for the comment!

BTW - YOUTUBE user SCOOTY15 has some really great live footage of BREATHLESS when they played the Cleveland Agora.

  • Why couldn't these guys be as huge as Foreigner, REO Speedwagon and Journey, these guys sure know how to rock.

  • my kids got me hooked on youtube for songs like this !!!!!!!! i remember those days when good musicians made great music

  • Thanks for the comment!

I remember those days probably way too well...

There was definitely more variety and creativity back then, plus radio format made it possible for local bands to get on the airwaves.

  • Hey kids - add this to your favorites - you'll look cool :)

  • I love You Tube! Thanks Artful!!

    Wonderful song :)

Take a lesson here Microsoft - POS Zune

  • Thanks for the endorsement!

Both Breathless albums definitely deserve to be reissued again.

  • Great band - saw them at Geauga lake on a floating dock like in 80 or 81 - much better than Stanley (no offense) but just a more non-cookie cutter sound...I play several of their songs for fun - Nothin's Gonna Change My Mind, Alibis, and Dead of the Night. Jonah has done some shows out this way in Lake County but haven't had the chance to catch one yet. Hopefully will soon - Rock on!

  • Thanks for the comment!

No offense taken here. For some reason, though I like both bands, Breathless tends to get played more often than MSB. Though I do have a soft-spot for the material that Kevin Raleigh contributed to MSB.

    You perform Breathless tunes???!!!!

Please feel free to put one of these Breathless covers on your channel. I'd be curious to hear "Dead Of The Night", which came pretty close to be a video victim. Alas "Hardest Part (Of Loving You)" won out...

  • thanks for reply. ifound ts at the endof the movie jailhouse rock.

  • great song good job, Ijust did a song called breathless,i cant find it anywhere i thought it was Elvis, do you know? thanks.

  • Can't say that I have, do you know any of the lyrics at all? Maybe someone passing by might recognize it and help you out!

  • american noise ruled...I may have seen them 20times all over town and still have great memories.... i remember thinking how much more pro they looked and sounded than other bands around that time...shocked they didn't make it

love affair was really good in the beginning

  • Yeah, American Noise had a great sound!

As for Love Affair, I've only heard the debut which is also very good (17, Mama Sez, Can't Get Enough, I Can't Let Go, & Cleveland Boys - great songs). As I understand it, they changed the name to L.A. and I probably passed through it in the record bins unknowingly (sigh)...

  • My absolutely favorite Breathless tune! The video is great, really does the song justice!

    Thanks a million!

  • One of my fave albums during my senior year of high school. Every track was great, would love to see this one pop up on iTunes.

  • You could find it on disc used on a collection called "Lost Hits Of The 80's" on EMI Special Products. You might also have luck finding "Breathless - Picture This" (Razor & Tie) used. That gives you both albums less "Hardest Part", "Videos", and "Nothing's Gonna Change My Mind". I don't know why those songs were cut on that release, but still a great disc.

    Good luck!

  • I wonder how such a good song only managed to make it to #92 in billboard in 1980!!

  • I'm sure many people in Northern Ohio wonder the same thing. Possibly because at this junction in 1980, radio was caught between the end of disco, the start of Punk and New Wave, Hard Rock (Zep, Rush, Sabbath, etc.) and Power Pop was lost in the shuffle.

I believe the song has recently made it onto a 70's compilation disc, so hopefully people can rediscover it!

    Thanks for the comment!

  • Great band - Great song - Great Album

My question is: where in the heck is any live footage? Seriously Youtube is void of any Breathless live clips. And while I'm up on my soap box --- Wheres the footage of American Noise? Craig and Bruce please upload something. Theres still at least one fan you can please, and that goes for you too Jonah!!!

  • Thanks for the comment.

I wish I had some live footage. I was fortunate to see them open for Eddie Money on the "Playing For Keeps" tour at KSU. What was really impressive was watching Kevin Valentine (drums) and Rodney Psyka (percussion) play off each other. All I can say, is stop out at Jonah's site and ask him if any exists, he's an extremely nice guy!

  • I was a few years too youg to have seen Breathless in their heyday but I saw the first reunion at the Odeon in 91 or 92 I believe. I also saw their other reunion show a few years ago with Alan Greene and Rodney Psyka also at the Odeon. And Kevin Valentine I've seen a few times over the past few years drumming at various Donnie Iris shows.

  • American Noise - another great Cleveland band. I would really doubt that any video exists of them. I've been kickin' around doing a video to one of their songs, but I don't have a clue on how to contact them for permission. "Anyone With A Heart Can Tell" or "Take It All" are great songs.

  • I always assumed there was either live footage or even a promo video or two of American Noise because on their self titled release there is someone who is credited for handeling video for the band. Randee St Nicholas who did the photos for the album went on to photograph a ton of big names.

  • I sure hope some exists. Who knows, I recently stumbled over live footage of THE A'S and BRUCE WOOLEY & THE CAMERA CLUB - so it's possible....

BTW - Thanks for the comments!

  • I was Bruce's guitar tech in the 80's and Tommy's drum tech, (in spite of being the world's worst drum tech) and I know there was a pro video for "Take It All" shot in Hollweird and on a tour bus. No idea if he ever plans to release it for use, here. Still got that record. What a great ****ing band.

  • Thanks for the comment! I've got to ask,

being a drummer and never being fortunate enough to have see American Noise live, what was Tommy's drum set/cymbal configuration (if you recall). Also, what happened after the debut? The album really deserves reissue on disc.

  • IIRC, it was a Slingerland kit, silver, kick, snare, two racks, two floors, hat, ride and three crashes.

And I believe he's left-handed but plays a RH kit setup.

  • Thanks for the info!

    Left-handed playing a Right-handed set-up - same way I play, no wonder I like his style!!!!!!

  • BTW - BREATHLESS will be performing a reunion show at the Tangier, in Akron, on October 20, 2007.

  • I will be there fer sure. The Tangier is a great intimate place to see a band up close and personal. Any clues to who might be there with Jonah?

  • No, but his site lists the current members at the 2005 reunion show. Visit his ONE MAN BAND site, he has a correspondance email address. Ask, and he'll probably tell you, maybe even a set list.

    A very personable guy!
