  • C'mon folks. Try to keep time. Let the pro's do what you paid for. Sing beautifully and add the eb and flow of the song. Don't sing along unless asked to. As a performer there's nothing worse than the audience 'trying' to clap along and sing along when the artists has not asked that of it's audience. It becomes awkward.

  • She has such an angelic voice.

  • This is so utterly incredibly beautiful...totally brings me to my knees in gratitude, love and spirituality...

    Peace, Love & Prayers,

    Love, Bridgette

    xooxxo

  • This is a traditional religious/bluegrass song others know well and want to sing. This is what music is about.

  • Rude, rude, rude, stupid audience. SHUT UP and listen. There are songs to sing along and clap to and this is NOT one of them. People pay to hear the performers sing, not the idiots in the crowd. They practically ruined this song.

  • @moosehose

Yeah, it absolutely a sing-along tune, perhaps if you knew a thing about anything, you'd know that. Jeez, how exhaustive you are....get a grip

  • @nula07 No, it absolutely is NOT a sing along type of song. Check out other performances of this song and you will see that the audience is usually quiet and respectful. I know quite a few things, too, I'm fairly well read and well rounded. You must be one of those assholes clapping and singing along loudly and out of tune, annoying everyone around you. Sorry I tired you out so much, go take a nap.

  • A wonderful American song, sung by a wonderful American singer...

  • It's not "Americans" who are to blame ..it's the nature of the crowd of Americans who they were singing to. Unfortunate really that the real spirit of the song had not penetrated the hearts of the listeners..if you watch this same song being done in front of a typical "bluegrass" audience where will be reverence and silence from the "American" rednecks :) they are neither rude or obnoxious or too stoned to listen with all of their hearts to such good singing.

  • Stoned out Zepheads.

  • Praise God that tour is done!

  • That ignorant clapping ruins the entire song!

  • Praise God!

  • agree

  • SHUT UP CROWD.

  • @WhitetailWillie

Why? It's a folk song. It's folks, in response. Folks, singing along with a folk song....should shut up? Why would that be?

  • @nula07 I want to hear her sing. Just being greedy

  • Absolutely beautiful and transcendent.

  • Allison !! Wow !!

  • John: Chapter 8 verse 7..... Time to read my friends... ;-)

  • God has given us faith in Jesus,by His grace. This gladdens my heart for Robert.God bless you,Robert Plant.

  • in kansas city there was complete silence during this was so unreal

  • @redsunset66 I was there as well, a very introspective moment, beautiful.

  • She looks like an angel

  • its not wrong to scream and clap etc. during this song but the way you do it is terrible.

  • The retards in the audience need to shut up and listen to the song. If they sang along, that might also be acceptable. No annoying, off-time clapping, yelping, whistling and screaming though.

  • mouldyfannel... I'm sure Alison Krauss is wise enough to know whether Robert Plant is adding to or taking away from her performance. Here's a novel idea, why don't we let her make that decision

  • Its a concert, if you want silence you need to stay home. Duh

  • @decomposing1

It's folk music, a concert, there are considerations, way beyond your frame of reference, And yet, you assault...why would one do that?

  • Folks get move by the Spirit of God.....I'm sure Alison didn't mind.

  • Alison Krauss has such a beautiful voice!

  • She is amazing.

  • clap fail :)

  • gooooosebumps !

  • This might just be the most stupid and annoying audience on any youtube vid ever. Shut up, you complete idiots.

  • The audience can't even keep tempo

  • I love seeing Plant backup Alison. Neat video Thanks

  • This was an awesome concert. Plant and Krauss were at the top of their game.

  • this is incredible!!!!!!!!

  • I believe l that live is the best and only way to hear the true soul of the music. You just have to listen around the crowd. THANK YOU SO MUCH for uploading. I really really enjoyed this post.

  • Totally a capella

    Amazing and beautiful!

  • The voice of an Angel!

  • @judo7975 good evening handsome....how was your day

  • LOL!!!! the pple clapping and shouting!! retards!!

  • She looks amazing, beautiful dress, and the voice of purity, got chills even through the excitied people in the audiance

  • alison krauss is just beautiful

  • I agree about the audience participation, it sucks. They should have taken a leaf from Christy Moore's book and stopped singing till the eejits shut up ... ruining such beautiful harmonies

  • @anniew137 I wholeheartedly agree - if you want to sing along, rock out in your car or shower but show the singer some respect during the performance; Van the Man's been known to even walk off the stage for less (ie shouting out song requests)... ahhhh, I miss Christie's concerts!

  • @skerrywall LOL what do you expect, they are rednecks. Gotta love 'em! If you want silence buy the CD

  • @anniew137

I was a punishment at a Christy Moore...event. Wouldn't call it a concert. Nor folk music. You sing folk music, audience knows the music, will sing and clap along. Is Christy Moore dead yet? Here's hoping. I'm an Irish music and folk music gal; when the alleged "artist" singles you out in a hateful manner, a bit of a narcissist. Being an Irish gal....done with that nonsense. What else you got?

  • i dont believe in god, but this song really makes me want to.

  • well then go ahead and do what you want :)

  • I don't mind the yelling from the crowd. But the random off-beat clapping really sucks.

  • @TheFiatLux

wait, how did you get the clap from beating-off?

  • @TheFiatLux really?! the random off key "back up" isn't bad

  • Not only does she have the voice of an angel, but she looks like one. She's glowing!

  • Thanks for posting this, Alison Krauss's voice is sublime and this is one of my most favourite songs. If there was any doubt about the quality of this woman's voice; you just have the awe in Robert Plant's face, as she sings. Respect.

  • dear alabama,

this isn't a song you can clap to.

    wow the south...

  • This song has always sends chills through my body, in a good way. Great song.

  • Wonderful of you to post this , she is sooooo good. I only wish people would SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!

  • I agree, it is such a powerful and deep song, and people can ruin it with their "WOOOOOoooo!"

guess thats what happens when u drink too much

  • omg! i hate when people clap and then you can't hear the singer...it's annoying

but other than that it's really good :)

  • No doubt, she has the voice of an angel!

  • AMAZING!

  • Excellent job! I was there 4th row! One of the best shows I've ever seen!

  • I disagree with ya ankanankan1. This performance was amazing!! All of them deserve many cudos for a very moving performance. =0)

  • she is good but those 3 dudes suck...

  • My god she is amazing

  • Just awesome !!!

  • Thanks for posting this Spunky!! Awesome! :)

  • Stop clapping for fucks sake.

  • Too bad the audio is so bad.

  • plant looks like he's a "sinner" in the back of a good ol' fashion revival

  • @macduflives, great comment. LOL

  • Greetings from the UK.Thanks for this spunkydoodle, really enjoyed it!

  • good lord ....is she an angel?

  • certainly looks that way all bedecked in glowing yellow light....

  • shes facing the sun and is on the right road for sure.

    God Bless Alison

  • Thank you shaking arms are not. What a great tune and blessing

  • actually has brought a tear to my eye

  • chad1790 NAH..ANGEL ..SARAH MGLAGLIN..SCREWED THAT UP..ER BOB DYLAN ...NOT DARK YET,ALL GREAT,,,,

  • She's such a talented singer! Check out another talented singer singing this classic song on our channel.

    TheShippExperience

    Old Classics Done Right=)

    rate and comment.

  • when i die i want this song to be sang by her at my funeral

  • omg this is fantastic thank u

  • why is there no silence during this song?

  • Because the audience are morons!

  • @pvandck

nah, you just don't get it. Find something of interest to you, and get out.

  • I think the singing and clapping is beautiful.

  • @megariot Some people don't know how to listen!

  • @megariot My late Dad told me to always ignore the "iI F P" (Ignorent fucking public)

  • @megariot They keep thinking it's over.

  • @megariot One word my friend.; Americans!!!

  • The voice of an angel

  • Very spiritual

    Norfolk UK

  • Really good. Would've been better without the yelling. This isn't really a "yelling" song. Just makes the crowd sound like a bunch of drunk rednecks. Sorry, but it's true. I'm sure some of the people who were at that concert feel the same way.

  • makes me melt---what a voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Allison Krauss is lovely. Her ability to convey emotion through her music is just incredible

  • It's not as if Krauss is trying to reform Robert Plant. It is an artistic collaboration.

  • This is a great video. If you don't get it, you don't get it. Yes people do get excited and caught up sometimes when spirituals are sung. Robert Plant certainly is NO saint however, being exposed to something spiritual can't do him any harm. Ya know..plant the seed and watch it grow ??? People can change and it's pure voices such as Alison's and songs like these as well as the electrified audience that makes it " a work of art" .

  • @steve732 That was a crumby thing to say. Plant was a wild young man like lots of young men. He was only a kid in Led Zep. He lost a son, his best friend, went through a lot of changes a long time ago. He's now in his 60's. Do you think he would lend himself to this performance if he didn't believe in it ? I saw a humble man walk out on this stage - not a kid dealing with instant fame/money. Life is about perfecting ones soul.

Are you perfect ? No, you're are not.

  • Thankyou so much for this video.

It makes me miss my beautiful mother.

We saw alison together in B'ham a couple years back.

  • you are all idiots. Yes you included. Your just too dumb to know it.

  • I hate these peaple screaming on the back ground, They just distroyed the whole performace..

  • They did spoil it a bit !

    Norfolk UK

  • I understand where you are coming from, claram14 but you know if those people were silent

I'm afraid the rocks and the trees would cry out!!! As a sinner SAVED by GRACE

I cry out too as tears of gratitude stream down my face...We all express it differently is all.

  • I'm a Pagan and I love this song =)

  • Rightt?? There is no need to be religious to like this song. It's beautiful.

  • @dogwood523 Tears, sobbing - its all good but yells and whistles tend to throw the performer off with this type of song. It wasn't a rock concert !

  • @ironman5454 I thought they were shouting for joy!

  • Robert Plant wrote "satanic back[w]ards lyrics on led zep songs"? Where was I when this happened. Who listens to music backwards? Seriously, who does this?

  • @bukethd1223 People like you amaze me. So, no one can be 'saved', Jesus would turn his back on a sinner (like you and I and ALL mankind) ? No, and he would bring you down a peg for saying such a thing. If it were as you say he would have had nothing to do with Mary Magdalene. This is why I avoid churches and it really bothers me - just because I can't take people like you who think they own the religion and can turn some away. Your day of judgment is coming. Work on your soul now.

  • incredible! But, why didn't the people just shut up and listen. It is supposed to be a spirtual song--some people just don't get it and I feel sorry for them-I really do.

  • I totally agree, people have a strong tendency to spoil wonderful performances by yelling like crazy instead of feeling the moment

  • @distar10 I can't agree with you more. More and more people are just not getting it anymore. It's a shame.

  • @distar10 That why i dont like music recorded live.

  • @distar10 cause it´s a song !! and the up and down is a matter of fact!

  • @mouldyfannel shut up, you nerd.

  • @mouldyfannel im guessing you are American??...i may be wrong, but if you are calling someone pretentious and you are AMERICAN..fuck man, thats embarressing. America is the biggest nation of pretentious, whiney cunts i've ever seen! wouldn't survive 3 seconds in any other other country in the world.

  • @MayonaiseKing100 Based on what ? Ever been to the States ? Think that persons comment is 'typical' of all Americans ?? I can assure you its not. If I had to guess, with the 'piss off', I'd guess a Brit. Maybe wrong but no more wrong than your asinine comment.

  • @mouldyfannel Wait...Zepplin pile of what?..Lets see.. The lead vocals were compared to Joplin.. a guy you told to piss off, the drums were so legendary Bonham is still reguarded as the greatest ever for 40 years, Jones was not only phenominal at bass but at key board and many other instruments, ..and..uh..wait ..oh yea..then there was this other guy..Only the greatest rock guitarist that ever lived..the inspiration to millions of guitarists ..wrote the greatest rock anthem ever..yea shitte!

  • @distar10 They didn't shut up because they don't know any better. Even though they've paid for tickets, they look at music as merely background to what they're doing, and that they are more important than the music. Of course, we know that that's not true, but to these individuals, *they* are what matters, not the sacred dance of performer and audience.

  • whooda thunk?Robert Plant who put satanic backeards lyrics on led zep songs singin some good ol' down home gospel.see folks there is hope for the world!

  • listen and hush,blakes314fag

  • The clapping was idiotic and off beat. I don't think people understand the concept of a capella. "Listening" patiently isn't a concept people can grasp these days.

  • She has one of the most incredible "instruments" in music and the Grammy Awards to prove it. I love Raising Sand. The collaboration between Plant and her is amazing.

  • Ditto to what krglass said below - times 2. Wow can that lady sing and uh, not hard on the eyes if you know what I mean...

  • The morons screaming need to shut the fuck up. No one wants to hear them.

  • love.

  • AH! I WAS THERE!!!!:)

  • WOW OMG. I love the song and i LOVE IT MORE with her voice. Love her music as well!!!

  • man she has a greeat voice..great combo bwtn her and plant..didnt even now who she was tell gone gone gone...lol know im a great big fan..think her sales went up about 10 pct on her CD's lol..but this song man it jez tugs at you..Thank You Allison...

  • When I die I hope the angels sing as good as Alison Krauss or I will be mighty disappointed

  • lol it's a song where people should shut up but this crowd sounds well fun compared to the Robert P/Aliosn K gig I went 2! Amazing live xx

  • I'd like to see Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson try that!

  • Do you like masochism?

  • lol

  • ew hell no.

    haha

  • Personally, I thought the enthusiasm of the crowd was awesome! If you want silence...Buy the CD and listen privately.

  • This is true talent, no need for instruments, just a voice.

  • Shame sections of the audience couldn't appreciate it in silence

  • hi der pipol! im so greatful 2 hear such song, it was suggested 2 me by a good friend of mine joseph santos. so heart warming..alison's voice really 2b loved

  • THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS LITTLE MARVEL !!!spunky little arms of yours: thank you also. Teee hee....

  • Just one of those songs that you cant help but love, Id probabl be the loudest one.

  • Ya, but this one of those songs where you should really be quiet so you can hear her beautiful voice. the people in the background screaming kind of ruin it..

  • i agree these morons screaming kind of ruin alot of it..

  • I agree with the anti-clappers. There are songs that are ok to clap to. This is NOT one of them. All you should hear is her beautiful voice. I just saw them sing this last night & it brought me to tears.

  • yeah i agree with you too. There's a great version of this song on Alison Krauss and Union Stations live cd. The crowd is very loud but as soon as Alison stats singing this song they go completely silent, and the silence remains until the song is over. That's how it should be

  • This is a beautiful song, and for those of you annoyed by the crowds enthusiasm, this is how bluegrass/country music is enjoyed.

    Tough

  • Sounds like a spiritual to me

  • Just saw them in KC. This song was one of the best all nite. The entire show was incredible, but this really stood out. She's got such an amazing voice. Great shoot!

  • LMFAO @ Theemotto1 - my thoughts exactly..what IDIOTS!!!

What a fabulous version of this song though - LOVE Alison:)

  • rowdy bunch of bastards,i just wanna hear alison!

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP. I LOVE ALISON.

  • STOP CLAPPING, AUDIENCE!

  • exactly, the Lord knocks on your door every day, all you have to do is answer it.

even non believers hear the knock

  • Hello?

  • This is the face of religion more atheists need to see. Its not all ignorance and fairy tales. Sometimes it can be really beautiful. I'm an atheist by the way.

  • I would agree. This should be the selling point of religion. Too often it is terribly sold, shamefully packaged Christian rock. But this is the simple essence of spirituality. This is what wins hearts and minds, body and soul.

  • Crowd SHUT THE FUCK UP!!

  • damn she's amazing. she is probably one of the first singers where i don't care about the looks, even though she's hot, and just focus at the singing.

  • this is proof we need nuclear war....concert clappers ruin such beauty...people cant just listen they must make sad and annoying attempts to inject themselves in everything...

dear god , thank you for the beauty to remind me of the stupidity of humans

  • Saw them at the Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia and, Holy Crap!! Awesome, truly a wonderful show! Big fan of both supremely talented artists. How many people can say they got Robert bloody Plant to sing backup?!?!?

Truly a beautiful show I will never forget. Thsi was an unlikely duo, but they work very well together; didn't see this coming!

  • Incomparable. I think I just got religion. I'd follow Her down to the river Anytime. T-Bone Burnett you're a Genius. And with Robert Plant singing harmony. Folks, if you live long enough, You see everything!

  • There is absolutely nothing better than hearing her perform this live. And undoubtedly, this is the next best thing. I adore this song, and I adore this performance. With that voice and the light glowing from her, she looks like angel. It is perhaps my favorite video on youtube! Thank you, thank you for this upload.

My only criticism is to the audience. One.. why the clapping? Two.. at least go to the beat. :)

  • Unearthly. Thank you for posting.

  • the audience cant keep a solid rhythm so even more credit due to them for keeping the same time

  • im 12 and i am a huuuge fan of alison krauss! i went to one of her concerts with robert plant in england it rockked someong always seems to be going--- "owwch!"
