so what if GMH could afford to keep the 202ci and put it into the VL and bolted on a turbo with a big blow-off valve, would you people still buy the VL???? if you have a listen to the "XU1 on conrod" video, and listen to how much high the 202ci 6 revs. if a rice burner revved that high, it would need a rebuild not long afterwards, in a simular manner to a Formula 1 engine, they only last for one race meeting, after that, they need a rebuild.

when GMH released the VN commodore, they went with the Ecotec Buick 3.8L V6, the first 'V6' ever to be used in an australian built car. every other 6 used in a holden was a staright 6. GMH used it for almost 17 years, untill thet dumped it, and they started to produce their own 6 cylinder engines, the 3.6L Alloytec.

general motors holden dumped the 202 in favour of the RB30 in 1986, not because they were pieces of shit (i know someone who has a VK 202 with about 574,000kms on the clock and has never has a rebuild) its because of new regulations that came in, in 1986, from the start of 1986, all new cars had to run on unleaded fuel, and they couldn't modify the 202 to run on on unleaded, simply because it wasn't within their budget at the time.

@jam3z07 Easy....cos the injected black 202 was so old and outdated, did the job just fine but mainly due to tightening emission laws it had to get the ass.. a shame holden didn't get onto toyota for motors during the late 80s and 90's ie, 1-2jz series sixes and the uz series alloy V8s would have been so sweet.

VL's come stock wit rb30 engines...even the non turbo ones have rb30 engines...onli 5.0L dont have nissan engines...so it would still b a nissan engine if u did buy a non turbo...they have the same engine as r31 skylines, mi cuzin has a r31 skyline...some VL's in new zealand came out wit rb20 engines in them...GO VL's:)
