  • i have a new name for you:

    its "Dr. Kwonkicker".

    You earn this title.

  • Holy crap, you have insane lead hooks!

  • When you throw a hook should you feel it in your shoulders ?

  • Very detailed and beautiful punches, thanks!

  • this guy has got a nice left hand punches :D

  • @kwonkicker my master allways tell me, never ! do a hook punch...

in championchips it will give you no points. just do straight punch's

how do you think about that?

  • @xXDeadSlaveXx...if you are point-sparring then I would agree with your master, but in Muay Thai, Boxing, Kickboxing, Sanda, Shoot Boxing, etc., hook punches are VERY effective, specially in combination with straight punches and uppercuts. I would just say it depends completely on if you are going for a KO fight or just points in a TKD match.

  • @ZadroOtrebor its nice to hear your opinion, thanks a lot !

  • @xXDeadSlaveXx no problem! any student of The Arts is a friend to me, regardless of discipline. Good luck with your training =]

  • @ZadroOtrebor Same ;)

  • ur knuckles are crazy big do u condition them or did they grow naturally?

  • @cocadeathla Punch hard stuff. Calcium goes to the Knuckles. The Knuckles grow.

  • Great job of breaking down the mechanics of the punch.

  • Thats how i do em in kickboxing. Great technique and video!

  • FUKN EXCELLENT TUTORIAL

  • Well done sir.

  • kwon..you are a great instructor..no disrespect to TKD but many of these schools do not have good instructors. which is why a lot is these student do not perform well in competion, or even worst a self defense situation.

  • When doing a hook punch, should your palm face the ground or the side?

  • @nstrikefromnerfhaven Bit of a Late Reply, but the Answer is, that thats Personal Choice. I feel that Palm Down = More Power, Palm to the Side = More Comfort.

  • PISH PISH

  • Hey Micah,

I was wondering if those tutorials you said you would cover in your new studio will include knees and clinching

Just wondering, thanks for helping me perfect my teep and front snap kick. I'm a big fan

  • Good video!

  • When I saw "Taekwondo Hook Punch" my first thought was…, Taekwondo..., they know nothing about how to hit a hook, they know nothing about how to hit at all, they only know how to kick.

Maybe I was wrong maybe right, whatever, this guy knows how to hit. In my opinion the best video on how to hit a hook, on YouTube

  • @ForAll23 Try not to confuse the Sport aspect of the WTF with the entirety of the WTF :) Im not a WTF Practitioner myself, but i do know that they teach alot more than just kicking.

  • I NEVER HEARD ANYONE DESCRIBE AND BREAK DOWN IN DETAIL EACH KICKBOXING TECHNIQUE. THAT IS SO COOL AND WHAT SEPARATES KWON FROM OTHER VIDS, THUMBS UP IF U AGREE! :)

  • I am a slow learner but with your tutorials I become a good martial artist... thanks Kwonkicker!!! :D

  • i bet your the type of guy that cops alot of shit by people thinking that you cant fight then you prove you can

  • Roy jones jr can throw 4 hooks at one time and he does it pretty fast. felix tito trinidad has the best hook of all time though!

  • I was actually just facing that dilema with my hooks. I have killer hooks and i was wondering about that. Also, i'm 6'0 and 149 Lbs. Should I bulk up to fight in a Heavier weight class, or just stay at this weight and fight like this? I've been wanting to bulk up to around the 180 Lbs range since I have the frame for it anyways.

  • This is a very good tutorial

  • How long have you been doing Tae-Kwon-Do for? I'm 11 years old and I want to start because I heard TKD is self-defense, discipline, and other valuable lessons. Am I too old or too young to start? Please send me an answer. Don't reply to this video comment but please reply by sending me a message. Thank you :) Keep up with the good videos because I've been practicing them before I start TKD for a head start. I can do the tornado kick pretty good now :D

  • @Imprisoned11 i started when i was 10 =P am a black belt now. if you work hard, you'll earn a black in 5-6 years, provided you're in a good school =)

  • @Imprisoned11 yur never to young to old yur at a good age start now in 7 years youll bee good

  • why u have that white curtain

  • I noticed that you end up in the same habit like me as soon I want to throw a powerful hook: The hook turns into a haymaker as I let my hand snap outwards.

Very difficult to avoid as it creates a powerful punch but it increases the time for your opponent to react...

  • i just realized that you look kind of like Edward Norton

  • I LOL at how bob's head wobbles when you hit it

  • @kwonkicker you got a name for the dummy.

  • @bjaac1234 B.O.B, read the description.

  • hello i really liked your art i am 7th dan black belt with seven world titels, for the first time on the u tube i find some one like you keep up the good job

  • wow were the same no vertical nor horizontal :)

wish we cud train 2 geder.............. btw.... wth wid squirrel o_o omg its a NINJA!!!!

  • yeah agree variation 1 sucks

  • Great tutorial and technique as always but i have to disagree with your end comment about using gloves while practicing on punching bags. I find it imperative to train bare knuckled, at least for a few hits, on bags to make sure i am hitting with the proper knuckles, as well as to make sure my wrist alignment is correct.

  • i need a fucking bag....

  • Now this is helpful!

Thank you very much, keep it up!

  • nice sox

  • DAMN ur muscles wooof

  • nice grunt!! mine sounds more like "ttsa"

  • @GuitarHeroArtist "Itsa me mario."

  • the way you throw punches looks like you could knock someone out with that, if its placed right. just look at the anderson silva forrest griffin fight. well it was more of a jab thing when you are walking away and stuff, but still. U ARE AWESOME!!!

ps. i wanna see you fight

  • how about a tutorial on timing/countering?

  • @kakuichi "God Damn Squirrel.......I'lll kill you....Dead!!" Luckily, you found a way to focus "All That"

  • are you lefthander?

  • wow, those punches are pretty fast and powerful.

  • @Jozsef86330 you can have more power then speed there people who hit hard but there hand speed is slow

  • dude... you got some boney knuckles!

  • the best punch of punches

  • I always had problems throwing punches, this helped alot, Thanks

  • I don't do TKD, but this actually helped my boxing technique. This guy knows what he's talking about. It's all about the basics and small details that make u effective.

  • i want to see TKD vs Kickboxing. IMO

  • @HmoobVue19 thats not possible, either your kinda dumb(no offence ofc) or its just that you dont have enough wisdom. As you probably know there can't be 2 identical people, with excactly the same training. If u want to see kickboxing vs tkd (actually any martial art vs the any martial art), the fighter who is the best will win, not the martial art.

  • @ioldfugi not possible? your a retard. Of course its possible jack ass. Calling other people dumb to make your retarded ass feel better. That is sad to know. If my opinion matters that much to you, you might as well go hang yourself. Douche bag... next time use your brain your slutty mom and crack dad gave you to think. .... BLOCKED! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.. btw... no shit its a no briner the better person will win. BITCH!

  • @HmoobVue19 wow dude...just wow...

  • @HmoobVue19 there arent styles that clash, just oppenents who come from different disciplines.

  • Damn guy you got a lot of power.

  • wouldnt want to pick a fight with this dude..

  • thats cool...

  • The squirrel didn't die.

  • @kwonkicker great! :-)

  • wow...I've been doing these punches for like the entire duration of this video and all of a sudden I have muscle aches on my shoulders, triceps, and chest...is that natural?

  • Dude teach me. Just by watching the video i could see the raw power in those pucnches and the fast quickneess just fucking amazing i want that power.

  • @soulskater100 lol, I dont think kwonkicker has the time since he's about to compete soon in the ring.

  • he will have time if i pay for it?

  • @soulskater100 lol ask him yourself through private messaging. I doubt it...I mean do you live near him? He's going to THAILAND to fight very soon...... In all honesty, you're better off just watching his videos and following them step by step as well as finding yourself a proper place around your area to train you.

  • Ok thanks.

  • "You're gonna look stupid" lool :D

  • Why did u kill the squirrel?? :( makes me sad! :/

  • This BOB had enough hits go buy another 1 !!!!!!!

  • Nice tutorial, love them all, thanks for making vids :]

  • Nice explanation as always!

    Superb!

  • I guess you must have spent at least a whole afternoon on this tutorial. thanks a lot, it's great.

  • Plotting to kill the squirrel made my day...

    Thanks for the hand help

  • Really good tutorial. Your form is pretty good. I enjoy learning my hooks the most on focus mitts.

  • i do variation 3 and dont even realise

  • You do an excellent job explaining man. Great video

  • thank you :) your videos are awesome

  • I kill you

  • Hey wouldn't it be easier to use the bicep during the 1st variation if you were to come from rotating the wrist during the movement of your fist moving toward the target, that way it uses more of the muscle in your arm for harder impact? like from a vertical fist( or maybe a little bit farther to where the palm of the hand is kind angled upward) and rotate the wrist during the movement of the strike for more power and speed. what do you think?

  • The reason for the different feelings of the bicep is because when you turn the wrist horizontally, the brachialis engages. The brachialis is a muscle that runs under the bicep. Some people like to call it the forearm flexor, all the same it is apart of the bicep, but of course not as big of a muscle.

  • good stuff! I learned a lot in just 21 minutes! (next video, tell us how to keep squirrels out. lol)

  • Excellent tutorial. I knew a little bit of throwing the hook punch, but this taught me even more such as different variations and how to lead with my shoulder and hip.

  • how do you get the punch to land on the liver perfectly. It's so hard to get that

  • i dont know why people think that its "sped up" but godam ur fast oh and have you made a vid on how to wrap ur hands?...damn squirrel

  • btw big fan of your tutorials

  • @kwonkicker the way your taching it seems more like a haymaker hook im just asking is it that you prefer more power then speed in your hooks

  • @giveupthecoast How can you hit hard, with power without speed? That most likely would be a push...

  • God damn squirrel :)))))

  • @rhasijadi Just one of the many hazards I face when filming these tutorials...

  • @kwonkicker Yeah, its a tough life :)

  • @kwonkicker Haha :D

    //mmacritic

  • i want to begin practice TKD, but where i live, there isn't any academy for TKD :(

  • @godscloud Me too..damn !!!!

  • @teamfucktop we are so fkng unlucky! XD

  • Loved the video, thanks; I'll be sure to practice them.

  • Excellent, I really look forward to seeing you in K1.

  • I love that part from 21:22. =))

  • thanks for the tips

  • cool beans
