this is just a safety thing but do not look away after you drop the bar! guide the bar (not hold) down as it falls, and control the bounces with your hands.
to be fair, i've seen much uglier form around here, but point taken. the problem with my back mostly stems from how i tend to catch the bar when it's heavy. i tend to just get my arms under it without having it racked properly so my back rounds because the bar isn't high enough in relation to my shoulders.
i also have grip issues. i can't hook properly and i hurt thumb last november trying to max again. i've finally given up trying to clean heavy without straps.
-first pull back isn't straight look forward, not up or down -second pull back still isn't straight based on your back position as the bar leaves your hips, I suspect you are armpulling, which is illegal -catch back still isn't straight catch with your elbows pointed out, not down use the stretch reflex those are just some points based on what I can see work with less weight until you have decent form, never trade form for numbers
the thing is, i knew that if i could just catch it, i'd be able to front squat it. i was concentrating so hard on the catch that i had totally lost all my upward momentum by the time i started to stand up under it.
195lbs and cleaning that much weight. Man I think you should seriousley think about competing! Christ you look thin. I thought you were gonna say were about 60-70kg. not 88.5kg. Well dude. Well Done. I wish I had the confidence to get under the bar like you do!
you know, i think i might try competing once i decide to hang up my track spikes, but the competitive seasons for both sports overlap a little too closely. on top of that, i have a lingering impingement in my left shoulder that makes snatching and overhead squats really difficult.
was that really 140?

Wow, that is crazy impressive. What do you deadlift out of curiosity?
JazzCatDRP 4 years ago
I have no clue. I've never deadlifted for max. Actually in the last year I've really gotten into super squats and high rep-failure lifting.

Sheesh! I've known guys who've been jerkin' since age 10!

120kg thats pretty good!, yeah it's hard to get good form without a coach.

Very good for such as skinny guy (no offense lol!) What do you clean and jerk?
chris41188 4 years ago
thanks. my jerk is really bad. i only started jerking 6 months ago. i can do 120 kg, but my form has some pretty severe flaws.

that is some truly horrific form
you have potential but you need proper training, or you're just asking for injury.

horrific how? i know my back rounded out at the end. anything else?
rainman6272 5 years ago
dont pause in the bottom of the catch.. you want to take advantage of your stretch reflex

Your back was looked a bit too rounded, but it was still very impressive to clean 140 kilos! Good job mate, and think about competing.

crap, now that i've looked at it a few times i can't be sure.
rainman6272 5 years ago
no lift! haha elbows touched. jk man. you need to work on your front squat though.

88.5 KG or about 195 lbs. i'm not really an olympic lifter so much as a track and field athlete that's very serious about his olympic lifts.
