I actually own the 08 Fireblade and if I could trade it for any bike now I would still get the 09 abs Fireblade, not because of performance but because I think Honda's quality in materials and construction is the best. And, regarding performance, I think that unless one is a professional and only rides at the track, one will have a difficult time to tell the difference in performance between either a Honda, a Yamaha, a Suzuki or a Kawasaki or a Ducati, etc
At the end, It's all about your preference and priorities. Point is...that CBR probably has about 190HP to the rear wheel...not even close to stock, plus new rear shock and upgraded internals...aka not even close to stock. Did I mention race bikes weren't even close to stock?
Superstock rules are restrictive. No modifications to Valves, seats, fuel injectors& carbs apart from filters. ECU can mod. Must use stock pistons, cylinders, cranks, rods, gears. Clutch plates can be changed but must be the same number as stock. The sprockets and chain can be changed. Exhaust systems can be changed. The bike can be 14 kg lighter than stock. The headlights, mirrors, blinkers and tailight must be removed. The stock speedo and tacho can be removed. Tyres are control Pirellis.
These kinds of tests have been done many times, and it's shown that cars and bikes are fairly evenly matched when picking the top of the lines for each. Both have specific advantaged over the other, and it's ultimately down to the rider/driver skill levels.

My car has a inline 4 and it sounds like a 300z but thats because its a 2.4L. I think the higher the leters the deeper the sound.
