Theres another way to see if a player is going left or right. When the penalty taker is running up to the ball, if he is going to the left there will be a slight pause in his run up, as hes about to strike the ball, which you can see in this video. If there isn't a pause, then the penalty taker, is going to the right. However, this does not work with finesse shot penalties, as there is no pause in their run up.

If a player is going down the middle his planted foot, will be closer to the ball but not right next to it.

I.E a left footers plant foot (his right) will be closer to the ball then when he is going to the right but a little further away than when he goes left... So his plant foot is in between both of the to distance about half a yard to the right of the ball.

(this is without trying this tip) if the player is RIGHT footed i think if it goes straight the player does the same footing as if they are going left, not sure but its the same for lefts, LEFT footed the player looks like he will go right.......
