Is that field bred springer or a show springer, they look like show springers but certaintly dont act like my show springer. i have the field bred and show bred. My show bred"holly" is well, sometimes a couch potato, where my field bred" Molly ' goes for every bird she sees, even fake ones!

@shantal011700 Not exactly sure. Shelby (leader) has short hair and minimal feathering. Dixie (mostly black one) gets real long and thick coat that we have to keep cut or else she overheats easy. They are from the same litter and both parents were of the field variety. Both of ours are mostly couch potatos now unless we get around water or wild animals, which they love to "spring".

i love these dogs! i have one and theyre so smart, my puppy swims to a rock in the middle of a lake and waits there for us instead of sitting in the water. but when you get there, hell jump rite over your head..

We just got a springer spaniel a few months ago. I just found it interesting that the two names we came down to were Dixie and Shelby...strange...we went with Dixie. And for Blaze5050 our puppies dad's name was Harley.

Is sophie a pup? Try throwing her favorite toy out there. Springers can't resist a good fetch! It helps to get in the water with them too, but I think most springers just dive right in!

Awesome dogs, we are hoping to adopt a springer from the Springer Rescue of Eastern and Central Canada. We had a border collie that we had to put to sleep last year in August. She was 23 human years old. We feel we are ready to have another dog in out lives. I hope we get chosen!

Sorry to hear about losing your collie. I'm glad you are trying a rescue first. We tried so many times, but the waiting list is LONG for this breed! We wound up going to a breeder in a nearby town. Meant to get just one, but Shelby came up and put her head on my knee and we couldn't leave without her. The bonus was that the breeder gave a pretty good discount for taking two! So glad we did it!

One of ours, Dixie, has had epilepsy since she was 2 (now 6) and was started on phenobarbital but was still siezing once a week. Switched to potassium bromide and it's now down to one siezure every couple of months! Plus the phenobarbital was starting to affect her liver. Otherwise she's crazy as ever!

I Just love this breed of dog, my springer spaniel does a mean Elvis Presley impersonation, He turns one part of his lip up and then shakes his leg, all for a biscuit. Up until recently he and our drake duck used to take it in turns to chase each other the dog taught the duck to do this it was fabulous to watch. Poor duck got taken by a fox. Still cannot bring myself to get a replacement duck. But I do miss the antics.

Lol. Yeah, shelby has the distance, but needs to work on her form. Dixie is a little more graceful, but she is so lean that she doesn't float, so always has trouble getting started once in the water. Shelby has built-in flotation so doesn't have to try as hard. She'll start college as soon as she gets that engineering job she's been eyeing, heh heh.

I said in the earlier toy video that Shelby is beautiful but shes a show off!!. (She can really jump though). We lost our Caesar in August. We brought Muffin home. Shes a black and white. As soon as I teach her some cool tricks like Miss Shelby I'll post her.
