i agree, i cant hear the violas at all even tho im trying to listen to them. i am solfegging this piece with five other people (I am Viola II), and I cant hear the second viola here.
This was wonderful, I loved the energy, even some of the tempos were a bit quick. I performed this piece last summer with some fellow volunteers at a youth orchestra summer camp. I can't really remember how it sounded; I can only hope it sounded this good!
Great work...I was at that concert and the mic placement is definitely changing the sound. It was absolutely PERFECT intonation and balance in that room.
Personally, I like the quicker tempo...too often it drags and has no excitement.
Not bad, you're obviously very talented kids! The tempi are generally too hurried, you should allow yourselves more time to savour the good bits. The volume is flat (at a high output level), and the violas mostly get drowned out - this could be due to the unfortunate camera/microphone placement. You don't need to be a virtuoso to play this piece; have a peek at the amateur Doro Sextet (next door in the links), they've got some problems of their own, but their feel for this piece is superb.
