  • god took hendrix to learn him the guitar, knowing one day he is going to have to jam with clapton,,,

  • Yeah,Stevie was great!

  • Eric is much better than any of the old blues masters, makes them look bad.

  • @MrRemo58 don't forget Mr Stevie Ray Vaughan dude !!!

  • Can it really get any better than this? A masterclass on the blues!

  • Righteously awesome. EC is just smok'in on this version.

  • i want to go to their concert again, it was a shame though clapton didnt participate much with audience as much as winwood did...

  • Amazing...

  • Nobudy can sing and play this song better than OTİS RUSH

  • @35heredot el mi Clapton@ xzarumaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!! Clapton forever)))))))))))))

  • oh god I'm knocked out....... like a tyson's punch in my face

  • This is what happens when EC is inspired one given night. His playing climbs to the Stratocasterphere when sparring with another great one on the same stage, like Winwood, Beck or the new apprentices like Doyle Bramhall II, Trucks, Mayer or Bonamassa (not in order of importance). Double good!

  • @Samueltrad double god you mean ha ha

  • great job boys haven't seen him since 76 ! at Veterans stadium in Phil! OMG And he did play Layala the King

  • Anyone who denies Clapton's abilities should watch this, it's incredible. Excellent example of his perfect sense of timing, phrasing, and almost effortless playing. There are many great players, but Eric puts it together like no one else.

  • OH My Clapton!!!

  • Speechless every time I hear this.

  • I've been watching and listening to the great man for years and he just keeps getting better and better- how good could he have been if he stayed drug free and drink free right through the 60,s and 70,s. Clapton is untouchable in modern music.

  • this video is like watch jimmi hendrix...haha!!!

  • what a dumass laught at Clapton? -_-

  • That is one heck of a very large video screen at a concert. They should all be that large, and even larger if they can make them larger. What a great performance. It's amazing, just electrifying-ly so.

  • There is a reason he is the only one to be inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame THREE times! The Master at work.

  • I get the chills every time when I listen to this. Never get sick and tired of this particular performance. One of many live greats of Eric's Double Trouble (Otis Rush). Eric's voice, guitar ability, and soul is out of this world. I love his voice, particular favorites, studio: August, Reptile, and Back Home. He is like fine wine as he ages he gets better and better. I love it when a musician can make cover songs their own. Clapton is God!

  • Can EC actually play lefty aswell or is the big TV wrong?

  • The greatest version of this song ever played was Eric and Robert Cray on Nightmusic. Search it on youtube and prepare to be blown away.

  • Saw him in March with Daltry. Perfectly flawless playing all evening. Solos bring me to the edge of chills. Everytime. No other guitarist on earth does that to me.

  • There is no doubt that he is the chosen one. After all these years as astonishing a player as one would ever hope to see.

  • Otis Rush is...was...will always be the man. It's great that Clapton still plays

HIS songs.....I hope people will go the the source......

  • 1:17

he plays very well on a left handed strat :p

  • TOTALLY INSANE

    EC IS GOD

  • Legend.

  • Humm...i don't think Clapton is God. But God is Clapton, that's for sure! If God was playing the guitar, he would play "double trouble" this way....

    Fukin' epic. GO ERIC!

  • Clapton is still the man after all these year! Yes, there may be even more "techinical" players in the the world, but in my opinion NO ONE else can play with this kind of feeling and pasion!!! He's the ultimate BLUES MAN!

  • OMG, what a solo !!!! Mr. C, do this again in Munich in June !!!

  • yes, please, i will be there too

  • ya know..in a weird way, looking at this view, from this angle, is kinda sorta a half ass tribute to Otis Rush lol

  • I have tickets to MSG FEB 2010 to see God and Jeff Beck.

  • d fbvdfdbfdb

  • Otis Rush thanks you.

  • the big tv made clapton a lefty

  • does anyone know if there's a proper live dvd version of this concert!!!

    I want it.

    I NEED IT!

  • The concert is on DVD, done professionally, search your favorite DVD seller for

Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood: Live from Madison Square Garden

  • YES, there is a DVD and Blue Ray version(I highly recommend if you have sourround sound) this will blow your speakers and the version of "Voodo Chile" on the same concert. Trust me after hearing both versions you will have another outlook for Clapton..ENJOY..

  • yes there is , bought the dvd concert 5 months ago

  • back where he started, good old blues!

  • Ma-mi-ta que maestro por dios!

  • does someone know if clapton playing left handed on this one?? if so, then he is the greatest, no doubt.

  • If you notice, his bass player is playing left handed as well....Hmmmm

  • no he did not. the video is just mirror inverted

  • Clapton is right handed, the guy who filmed this was behind the screen (lucky guy). I have this on Blue Ray and the TONE is sick - it will pierce your walls. ..you should also check the version of Voodo Child of this tour...OMG...No question Clapton is GOD.

  • Truly formidable......as brilliant as Stormy Monday with Mayall back in 1966. Thanks for keeping it up Eric.

  • ONLY GOD can do this solo with the guitar as a lefthanded when being right handed

  • Saw Clapton when he came to Vegas and I think his solo's were just as good as his One More Car One More Rider tour. Oh yeah, Clapton is God.

  • fantastic,awesome, never that' GOOD!!!!!!

  • I was shivering through that. I could feel the hairs on the back of my neck and the hairs on my arms standing on end. That is seriously unexplainable. That is FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!

  • Thank you!!!

  • The DVD is a most have - full on DTS 5.1. NO question Clapton is GOD.

  • Holy dear goodness mother of all that is godly...

...This was.. even better than when I saw it live. I mean, that was amazing, but this was...other worldly. God, this is why I picked up the guitar and dedicated myself to learning the blues.

Also, I love how you can tell the guy shooting the video plays guitar because of the details he notices. Like the fingerpicking, and the repeated lick during the super solo, lol.

  • haha yea we're all clapton nuts

  • unreal..

  • Thanks for posting.

  • So emotional and intense, the first time I heard this I had to wonder if he had something bothering him, and was taking it out on the guitar!! This is officially one of my three favorite solos from E.C. along with the original "Crossroads" and "Old Love" acoustic from Mtv Unplugged.

  • lol, the camera man is having orgasms along the song

  • Comment removed

  • I have this on Blue Ray and it is SICK, the tone he gets out of that guitar and Tweed AMPs is Amazing... a must have. Check out Vooodo Chile on the same concert.....

  • E.Clapton's, Heart & Soul!!.

  • When did Clapton become left-handed??? :) lol

  • I saw that too. How does vid get reversed?

  • Video is shot from balcony just behind the stage.

  • Absolutely Stunning!!!

  • Sounds like your sitting next to Bill Clinton on 0:46.

  • Do you play anything besides the skin flute? Just wondering.

  • This was the night I was there. This song just blew us away. Thanks for posting!

  • What an incredible virtuoso performance. Thanks for sharing.

  • saw a pre-release showing of the DVD last night and it was tremendous. Double Trouble is EC at his finest

  • Ditto that!

  • the dvd is coming out very soon!!!

  • fantastic recording

  • I saw him here in Hollywood Florida on May 2008 and he was just as incredible. Unfortunately I did have a camera to document that evening.Thank you for posting.

  • One of the best performances ever in Clapton's career, IMO.

  • Eej,

    12bar together!:p

Saw your comment to this vid.

    Its marvalous!

  • ok i can put an end to the righty/lefty thing as i was sitting right next to the guy who was filming this video. clapton is a righty. my friend (the guy who posted this vid) and i were seated somewhat behind the stage at madison square garden. the large screens are duel sided and projected from the front, thus inverting the picture if looked at from behind.

  • I was sitting next to the guy who was filming this as well and I can confirm that he was a douche bag.

  • hahahaha

  • Clapton's a Righty...so filming behind the screen would probably be correct here. I just watched a concert on TV...he's a righty.

  • I don't think that it has anything to do with the screen, because when you see him from the side he still plays lefty. you can also see this when all of clepton is in the picture. beside there's no reason why the screen should be reversed

  • He is filming from behind the screen so that's why it looks like he is playing lefty. The screen looks reversed from behind.

  • He REALLY is God! LEFT and RIGHT handed??? Amazing! ;-)

  • I'm not sure if you're kidding or not but I don't want you to think less of him but he's not playing lefty here. the guy filming is on the backside of the screen so it looks backwards. Clapton is still god though!

  • Hey Heeeeeeeeeeeeey

  • and he`s become left handed too !!!!

  • hearing this gives me goosebumps.best version of this song.def worth my $300 dollars, haha.

  • disturbingly awesome! and winwood's hammond is SWEET!

  • fucking brilliant solo,s can,t wait to see him 2 weeks tonight

  • Clapton Rush.

  • simply outstanding!! im through bein blown away by this man, jesus christ couldn do better himself!!theres only one god eric clapton! soory if i sound saccreligous, but i cant think of any words to decribe how good this man is any more!

  • This is incredible and inspirational! I hope I can still play like that when I'm 63.

Check out at 5:29 when he seems to hit an off-note. I can't tell, but it's as if he loses his grip on the string when he's bending it. You can kind of tell from his reaction, too. But he just goes on and plays the note he was going to hit -- he isn't fazed a bit. I could be wrong, but listen carefully at that point.

    Great player!

  • at 6:15 you see him changing to using his fingers, at approx. 6:50 you can clearly see him changing back to using his pick..

    awesome technique

  • This has gone to be one of his best guitar solos of all time (both of them). I thought the version from Just one Night was one of his top 3 guitar solos ever until I heard this version. Incredible. Hope he plays like this when I see him at Hyde Park next month!

  • I was at this show on 2-28, sitting in almost the exact same spot on the other side of the stage, and the back of the screens are indeed reversed from the front! Argh! But, I've followed Clapton since Cream, and this is the BEST I've seen him play and perhaps the best concert I have ever been at!! I was literally in tears during this song and thank goodness there is such a great video of it from virtually the same perspective I saw it from.

EC is so amazing -- better than ever, IMO.

    Jim

  • who else can play like this at the age of 63??

    This man is really GOD!!!

  • Who else can play like that full stop!

  • It shows him left handed on the screen because when you film a screen the film shows it left handed.

  • after voodoo chile i think this was the better song of the night.

  • well he is doing an Otis Rush tune so maybe its appropriate that he's left handed :)

  • hes not playing left handed. i was there and the two of the screens behind the stage were backwards.

  • never thought id see clapton do double trouble again..let alone like this!!! fucking god man

  • o my god im frekin speechless i was there that night and still have dreams about it and his solos almost made me pee my pants thay were that good

  • man..i can belive that he still can play like that..great

  • I'm a lefty guitarist... so that's what I look like?! ;-)

  • he is channeling jimi

  • hes channelling ERIC CLAPTON!!!!

  • sweet jesus

  • Muito bom, nem parece o mesmo guitarrista dos últimos 10 anos.

  • why is it showing eric to be left-handed?

  • i wasn't there but maybe the screen was slightly transparent so the image could be viewed on both sides? unfortunately this means that one side of the audience got to see the proper image, whilst the other saw what we see here, the reverse. maybe.

  • its one of those insane Chris Angel Mindfreak thingys with the crazy mirrors

dude if i had to look at that screen with the left handed guitar id be so pissed off...
