Great stuff man! About the Juno's; which one's your favourite? I've read that the 6 has a sonic edge over the 106 and I wonder why you chose those two and not the 60.
Question! Do I think this is fantastic because Jarre is great and it is nice to see someone reproducing his work.....or...Do i like it because I know the piece and familiar things make us more comfortable?
Hi, congratulations! Really nice cover. I wander whether Juno 106 can produce the same sounds that you have created on Juno 6 (it's easier and cheaper to find a second hand 106)? I tried to recreate these sounds on other synts like JX-10 (not very successfully ) and Nova, as well as using some digital stuff and seeing the process of triggering these sounds before your performance was very helpful. Would you mind to share the knowledge about the settings you did? Best regards.
@Dar2603 Hi, yes a 106 would make the same sounds , although not quite as warm as the 6 , but hard to tell the difference really:). Trying to re-create oxygen with digital or vst's kind of takes the fun out of it and never sounds quite right. It took me a few days to prepare all the sounds, some not covered in the video. I have tried this many times over the years and it usually turned out awful. I think the key to this is the percussive "flow" of the original, with delicate sequenced phrases
Hi! very good work. I like JMJ too. Could you tell me the list of your instruments please? I recognised the Roland juno 6 and 106, the Korg karma but not the rest. When you play Vangelis you use the same synthesizer or other else? Thanks
Pretty amazin if u know that Jean Michel performs this live with at least 3 ppl playin synths and prolly a whole battery of sequensers and programming in addition :) Some flaws here and there, but if u really play it all by ear (no sheetmusic) it Freakin amazin Mic. Keep it up.
Hi Mik, This is really fascinating to watch and i have to say your cover of "Magic Fly" is wicked! I am just getting to music production and would like some advice-do you have an email address?
jean michel jarre has made music, he's a musical talent, my tears are falling out of my eyes! this music is so so so so beautifull, i think you can't even describe this in words.
its incredibly amazing! absolutely master composer!
Brillant, as usual !! :)) You're my favorite YT synth player of all times ! Keep enjoying us with your nice covers and creations ! You have a great sound and musical feeling !
Having watched all your previous videos, I have always wished to be "the fly on the wall" as we say where I come from, to actually see how you prepare for your videos. It was therefore a great pleasure to follow the intro of this video, to get an idea of how you prepare. High quality work, as usual. My credits also goes to Louis the camera man for the great visuals. I expect to hear mr. Jarre perform Oxygene 4 himself live in his first outdoor concert ever in Oslo/Norway on Saturday 28th :-D.
Hi Mik, another excellent cover. Loved the 'making of' intro. I can see sales of small stone phasers going up! 4 days very well spent, worth the effort. 541 views in less than two days, every Jarre fan should see this. Mike
The beauty of the small stone still surprises me, it completely transformed the sound of the microkorg into beautiful jarre strings. I really need to pick one up.
WOW WOW WOW!. MIck that is fantastic - absolutely superb mate....you have got the sounds spot on - love the cover! Love the working it all out! Five stars*****.
@mattsynth Cheers matt, always good to hear from you:) Funny how most of you guys love the setup bit, I should do more of it, I thought it would be bloody boring:) never doing a jarre cover again though , too much work and not enough enjoyment. And I mean that as a compliment to Mr. jarre, the notes are easy to find but the actual sound is very difficult to get right. I must have spent 3 or 4 days multitracking this..Ouch:)
Amazing cover mate - congrats! Great programming and great playing. Also looks like you had a lot of fun doing it and I appreciate the behind the scenes moments :)
WOW, really nice Video. Love the part where youre finding the right Sound on the Junos. Would love to see that in Future Videos, because it shows how hard it is to find the right Sound, especially when doing a Cover Version of a very Famous Song. By the way, I wouldnt be surprised if Mr Jarre sees your Video and comment on your Video or better add it to his Favorite List :)
That about nails it
