this game is legendary. the underwater level kept on making me come back for more; it's not just the design and graphics of the time that were good. it was also the fact that there were so many diverse levels and areas. the game's length was fine; it usually takes me 4 hours to pass it. i have loved the game since i began renting it in 1996 as a 12 year old and i continuously play it on my snes roms. i'm glad there are still people celebrating this game's awesomeness to this day.

This is most definitely my favorite DKC. Purely based upon nostalgia. This was the first video game I ever played in my entire life, so the others don't quite satisfy me as much as this one does, but all of them are still fantastic games that hold up even to this day.

Well I suppose I am quite biased. I grew up playing the first one and I loved every minute of it. I learned all the secrets and could do just about anything in it. I loved the second one because it was more challenging and they added more gameplay elements to give it depth. I disliked the third one because I didn't understand who that obese baby was and I didn't like playing as him. But as I said, they were all quality games. I just don't like the third one as much.

What? In both graphics and gameplay this game was the biggest step forward that any 16 bit side scroller ever made. After DKC2 that was hard enough. The only bad thing about things about this game were the cruddy bonus endings and Kiddy, who most people didn't like. However it's understandable why they'd use him, because DK and Dixie is just too odd of a pair.
