This one has 231hp? I was thinking of replacing my BMW E46 2.2L 170hp with a 2008 C300. My E46 has a 0-60 in 7.4sec (0.1sec faster, doesnt matter) but i dont want a car that has slower acceleration than my current one. It seems unlikey that a 231hp car is so slow, is it so heavy?
@CroAuslander , It really isnt that heavy at all. I think it's around 3600lbs which isnt too bad in this day and age of luxury cars. Im just as baffled as you are at this car's acceleration. Maybe the short gearing which takes two shift points to reach 60 increases the time, or possibly the AWD drivetrain putting less power to the wheels than the the RWD? I just dont get how a 328xi with nearly identical weight and power is almost 2 sec faster to 60.

I really don't understand this car at all it's great, quality, looks but that speed is just so wierd, I just don't know what to think about it. @CroAuslander, Honestly dude, I would really think twice about choosing a C300 over pretty much any of its competitors. It's an ultra smooth, reliable, and comfortable car, but that's about it. There is no driving thrill. It's basically a car for those who want a soft Lexus but dont want Lexus' bland looks. A RWD C300 with a 6spd MT would be quicker, but still wont be a hardcore sport sedan. I would seriously suggest a 328xi or G37x over this car. (And this is coming from a die-hard Benz fan)
@flynnchris711 , For a sport sedan; absolutely. Even the C350 is barely adequate by sport sedan measures. Luckily this car is really marketed as more of an entry level premium compact, and in that sense it's perfectly competitive with the 328i, A4 2.0t, G25, IS250, TSX, etc.

@hustler1593 it may be a so called poor mans vehicle but pony up a couple more thousand to get the 350 if u drive the two u can feel the difference the 350 pulls so much harder then the 300 and the 2012 which comes out in spring has 302 hp 335 should be scared shittless right now.
@sphenct152012 c350 does 0-60 in 6 seconds, 335i does 0-60 in 5.3 seconds, don't know why a 335 driver should be scared, my 2009 a4 manual does 0-60 in 6.3, so these merc V6's are pieces of shit.
@lmcneice , 2012 C350 will be alot quicker than this years due to the engine tweaking. Said to have >300hp & should prove much more competitive to the 335i, so that's what he probably meant. Although I totally agree with you about MB's V6s being a little too soft in the power delivery, I would never call them pieces of shit. They are buttery smooth, have a nice growl under full throttle, relatively fuel efficient and reliable. VW/Audi's noisy, unreliable, unrefined 4 bangers just dont compare...

My grandpa has a 2004 audi A4 with 240,000 kilometres (around 150k miles) on it, and it's got the original tranny, engine, and everything. They (had) problems back in the day, but you really need to go drive one and see for yourself.
@lmcneice , I love Audi and VW, and trust me, I have ridden in and driven many. They're of extremely high quality overall but the 2.0T and 1.8T engines are seriously lacking in the sound and refinement department. I can forgive a VW GTI for having a raspy, noisy engine, but a $40K Audi A4 shouldnt have that. Even at highway cruising speeds I can hear the hum of the four banger. In my family there is an older A4 and an older Passat, both of which have terribly problematic 1.8L turbo 4cyl engines.
@immortal4942 , oh but comparing a supercharged version of Acura's fastest/sportiest current model to a stock version of Mercedes' cheapest, slowest model is a fair comparison?
