Wouldn't that cause a sudden enrichment of un-atomised fuel to just pour into the cylinders? I get about 20-25mpg from my volvo 2.0 740GL with this system.
@1700iDiGuy No, the amount of air, corresponding to the piston of the throttle plate, drawn in by the engine serves as the criterion for metering of the fuel to the individual cylinders so the amount of air drawn in by the engine is measured by air flow sensor which, in turn controls the fuel distributor. the sensor and the distributor are assemblies which form part of the mixture control unit. injection occurs continuously without regard to the piston of the intake valve.
@1700iDiGuy During the intake valve closed phase the fuel is "stored". Mixture enrichment is controlled in order to adapt to various operating conditions such as starts, warm up, idle and full load.
@1700iDiGuy if you have direct injection,i think wen i cilinder is compression injector valve is closed by high presure! direct injection is on golf 2 gti :) i thin is more economical then a injectors in inlet monifold,who spray fuel all time! :(
@nagla626 it doesnt really matter, if you can drive a car this size, then petrol prices arent too much of a bother :-) this engine is very powerful though
My car has this system of mechanical injection (k_jetronic) is a golf cabrio year 87 motor 1.8 112hp "DX" I would like to know more about this injection system, for example i dont know what piece is the next to the fuel pump and previous to the fuel filter , I think it is the accumulator? But what is the piece near to the fuel filter then? thanks and greetings for this very good video demonstration
yeah its the fuel accumlator wich maintains the pressure in the fuel system for a certain time after the engine has been switched off in order to facilitate restarting, particularly when the engine is hot
