  • CANNOT find "Do what you gotta go" on youtube! :-)

  • Orleans would be envious....

  • 2 loves,.. Newgrass and Grew grass

  • Going to college in Bowling Green and taking banjo lessons from Courtney Johnson (Bela's predecessor RIP), there has never been....nor will there be another band like them.

  • stand by me much?

  • mulllet festival 88 great party sam ypu owe me for the ounce yo rolled 2 joints out of.

  • mulllet festival 88 great party sam

  • not a fan of the audio quality here. The instruments sound very tinny & plugged in. Spoils the good playing

  • thank you, whoever filmed this. thank you sam bush!!!!!!!!!

  • they were ahead of their time/if they were to get back together now they would probably just burn the world down.....lol/massive talent everywhere in that band

  • why would you post that here?....

  • They were the Grateful dead of Bluegrass!

  • Mandolin is my favorite instrument,, but I can watch Pat Flynn picking for hours...

PS.. Nobody has ever come close to these guys as far as the product they put on stage...

  • Thank you. all the best fa Hank in bonny Scotland

  • The only thing I don't like about them is their singing. It doesn't sound like bluegrass harmony, but more like a Christian group. So far as Christian music, I prefer bluegrass gospel music. To each his own.

  • @Robin18us

yeah their vocals sounds weird on this recording. vocals are much better in other videos

  • These guys are the reason I am proud to be from barren co!!!

  • NGR rules

  • Find a better collection of four musicians and you have found euphoria.

  • dellinger - what the heck are you talkin' about??

  • If your trying to say that Sam is a junkie then you are dead wrong. Even if he was does it make a difference? He is still the man as far as I'm concerned.

  • @dellinger1000 ---what are you talking about man?

  • I love NGR, where can I find their records???

  • amazon! - the later recordings are a bit 'manufactured' in my opinion - the classic which is part of my 'life's soundtrack' is the live 'too late to turn back now' - commonwealth is really good though more studio. 'barren county' , 'when the storm is over' and 'fly through the country' are the other key albums in my opinion. You HAVE to get 'too late' first though - WARNING; the others may dissapoint after! (save the innovation on commonwealth).

  • i love sam he can't stand still.

  • Yeah I know, lol. But really, how can anyone stand still listening to this?

  • It DOES NOT get any better boys and girls!

  • absolutely amazing....

  • I would LOVE to see them get back together. They were so incredible!!

  • Pat and Bela's solos were fantastic!!!

  • Even though the band split I know Sam Bush and of course Bela Fleck still continue to play in public and just keep gettin better.

  • Saw the band with this lineup at Oberlin college-awesome!

  • I love the way John Cowan wails at the end of this.

  • They never tried to play pop. They played New Grass. DUH

  • Amen to that Blue:)

  • No one can say what say what should or shouldn't be played on these instruments. They are called MUSICAL instruments after all, you can play whatever the heck you want to on them.

I think they did a great job at their "pop." Wether I like it or not, I respect them for it.

  • No one could make music like these guys did!!!! They were hands down one of the best bands that was around then. Too bad they split, their life as a band was far too short. I was a huge fan, and if anyone ever really listens they too will become a fan. Their music will have a life of it's own long after they are retired.

  • @fanofgauts I agree this is what i call talent which seems to be non-existant now days

  • Irish & Celtic music is much more better!

  • @Qwerti60 : your comment helps us a lot .. dude ..

  • Your welcome

  • @Qwerti60 douche.

  • What?

  • Most kids can't rock without an iMac and their samples, tape loops, break beats. No one really wants to take the time to learn the fundamentals of an acoustic instrument anymore, they wanna be instant rock or hip-hop stars. These guys were the real thing. Solid songs, great players all, but not big enough for the cash-cow music industry, forced into change at the end, a little too far off from their roots. What a shame to lose them... Any young aspiring musician should get to know NGR!

  • I enjoyed them more when Courtney Johnson was with them but I still love them. Sam Bush is a great guy! This is one of my favortie songs. THANKS so much for posting

  • What the hell are you smoking? Could it be duh "crack" uh?

  • Let's not waste time here - Pat Flynn did a fine job and many guitarist/singers would struggle to pull off his role. He is no Tony Rice, but I don't think it is fair to compare him - it is like comparing Apples to Oranges.

  • Actually, Pat's one of the nicest and most professional of all the "Nashville Cats" I've met. Not only that, but his rhythmic sensibility brought a drive and energy to NGR that they hadn't known previously.

  • is Bigfoot on You Tube, cant find it, one of my favs of these guys

  • Along about 1969=70 in Louisville Ky there was a place where Sam and a few other greats got started...Ricky Skaggs had a band there called Boone Creek.....There was a band called Bluegrass Alliance with Dan Crary on guitar and Sam on Mandolin....He was just a kid...Tony Rice had his first paying job with them before moving on to New South...I have so many memories and glad I got to watch them do well.I even remember John Cowan as a chubby kid at the state fair.....

  • the thing that is so amazing about newgrass is with all that picking talent at the end of that song the three part harmony was perfect. I don't think there has ever been a band that could play and sing as well as they did

  • Yes, great video! They also had a song I think called "Australia"? Is a clip of that around? Thanks for this neat tune!

  • Yep, "Sail to Australia" -- on the "When the Storm is Over" album.

  • Great Video !!! Killer stuff. Is this filmed at the stompin' grounds in maggie valley, nc? It looks like the set for the Fire On The Mountain program that they used to film there.

  • I miss the New grass Revival. Individually each of these guys is great. Sam is a great singer and one of my favorite mandolin players. John's voice soars like no other. Pat is wonderfully original on guitar. Bela can play anything on banjo and make it great. And together they're, well, the Newgrass Revival.

  • Awesome! Thanks so much for adding. Any more of these guys is most welcomed!!!

  • wooooooooo...i'm never growing old, not with this song!!!

  • FANTASTIC This is best version I have her of this song by NGR. Like most GREAT musiciams they never did any song exactly the same way , lots of litlle improv riffs. Listern to Bela and Pat on this- WOW<WOW
