I've had some experience with depression and Richey sounds seriously sick in this. :(. He sounds a bit better towards the end but my gosh, it's like he's struggling to talk even in the beginning...was knowledge of depression that bad in the Nineties that people couldn't tell how sick he was?

And the footage is of the car, near a notorious suicide spot, not actual footage of him jumping into a banana boat, and sailing into the sunset, or anything like that. You're quite right, though. He could very well still be alive, however, I personally, seriously doubt it.

Even when he's talking about depressing things, I find his voice so soothing it lulls me to sleep. I met him with my sisters randomly when we were on holiday when I was about 4, they were huge manic fans but I didn't have a clue who he was. He was so sweet and lovely (even though I think he was pissed off we were bugging him) I fell in love with him. I'm just so sad I didn't know who he was until I was older and I was so sad when I found out what happened to him. He was a truly amazing person.

That seems to be the case with nearly every Richey interview I've ever seen. The interviewers don't know how to react, so they often make bad jokes or smile stupidly into the camera and laugh nervously the entire time. I also get a feeling many of them didn't think he was "4REAL" and that it was all a part of some sort of tortured artist/genius act.
