What happened before this point is he has just swallowed a box of taste enchancing additive thus dissilusioning him and beliving that everyone is food. Considering kirbys favorite thing to do is eat... it does make sence that crack would cause the same effect.

actually it is drugs. Its from Hoshi no Kaabii episode 34. they call it "Gijira" in the anime and it is explained to be some sort of mushroom extract that makes you hallucinate. The cook had a box of it and kirby swallowed all of it.
