Zukov was way smarter than the Germans. He managed to bring over 500000 troops into the battle zone without the Germans even knowing what was going on. There were only 20000 trained red army troops in Stalingrad when the Germans first arrived. Out numbed and out gunned they killed Germans at the rate of 10000 a week. A single Red Army man or woman was as good as 3 Germans in this urban warfare. They were also much better marksmen or women. A lot of Russians had their snipers badges at 14 years.

By the end of 1942-43 the Red Army has been armed well enough (e.g.this is evidenced by the video). Nobody sent the soldiers to fight as cattle. NKVD groups (16 groups, each of the group has 200 soldiers for all Stalingrad front) did not shoot the retreating on order soldiers (only alarmists, cowards and so on) Moreover, NKVD often took part in battles themselves. Well, I've seen Russian historical series "Shtrafbat" and there were sequences in which NKVD shot to retreating soldiers so I'm willing to believe that a similar situations occured in Stalingrad.
Red Army could mobilise so many men that its losses simply didn't matter. Especially if a commander wanted to make his First Marschall a birthday gift..

For 200 days of this battle have been killed, wounded and taken in captivity about 1,5 mil (!) germans. (including the killed 461,1 thous) Soviet killed = 451,2 thous
In Stalingrad was break the absolute world record of mass destruction of civilians. Killed = 185232 !

It is totally laughable to take official Soviet data seriously. I studied official USSR history in Moscow for 17 years. It's fill of lies fabrications and history books change with every new "glorious ruler" and every communist party congress. Besides Russian beaurocracy is so inefficient and incompetent that they still don't know exact ### for anything. War losses, gulag body count, crime statistics, etc.. They couldn't publish the truth even if they wanted to.

I have faced war head on three times in my life. Let me tell you that there are people who deserve to die. One of my deepest regrets is taking them prisoner and not shooting them. Most bad things about Stalin came from Khrushchev (the secret report in 1956). You can not trust Khrushchev, though. He was a nasty polytical animal and, in order to secure himself, he wanted to eliminate the old guard - the people that fought the war with Stalin.
Now Stalingrad is called Volgograd. The Russian should return the old name. History tremembers "The battle for Stalingrad", not the battle for Volgograd.

Most of the average citizens had absolutely nothing to do with the Nazi party. many did not like the Nazi's and still more did not like Hitler. And technically, there were no Nazi's in the Wehrmacht. Zukov was way smarter than the Germans. He managed to bring over 500000 troops into the battle zone without the Germans even knowing what was going on. There were only 20000 trained red army troops in Stalingrad when the Germans first arrived. Out numbed and out gunned they killed Germans at the rate of 10000 a week. A single Red Army man or woman was as good as 3 Germans in this urban warfare. They were also much better marksmen or women. A lot of Russians had their snipers badges at 14 years.
