personally I have a 2000 s80 t6, and from the start, its not the fastest due to its weight and the tires spinning, but if you're rolling in first at 10 mph, you can get to 60 in about 4 seconds
Bar the excellent stereo this is the only other thing the 'ive got a bootful of samples' S80 is good for.
It will suck any driving enjoyment or enthusiasm right out of your spine then burn it in a heap infront of you, cackling and whispering about CO2 emissions and mpg. In fact, you know the evil advisor to that king in the lord of the rings film? I think he's called Grima. Yeah, well he's got an S80.
amusing to read, but the 2000 S80 T6 is a fun car. Runs low 14's in the quarter, and from a roll will pull on almost anything short of a vette. Handles pretty well for a big sedan, has good brakes too.
Great car for hunting mustangs, camaros, and most imports, as long as you aren't trying to get on it from a roll. The T6 will spin the tires when the turbos spool.
All that with a comfortable interior, a nice stereo, and its not a bad buy for the $3-6k they cost now.

thats pretty fast butt we've got the t6 and his top speed is 255 kmph butt my dad is going to chip the car and his top speed has to be like 270 butt you're volvo is pretty quick tho;)
Well T6 was a very good model. It was my favourite until I've realised it only had a four speed auto instead of five. Now I actually prefer 2.5T (Low pressure) since that model had more gears to play with.
Like I said T6 was my favourite but the tall ratios spoils the fun especially taking it around bends. We have a V70 2.4T fitted with Bridgestone Potenza Adrendelin. It's a lot quicker than before even in wet conditions.

@DutchMasterStatus For optimal 0-60, push the gas as hard as you can from start, without spinning the tires. I'm sure you knew this. :p
I'm looking at these now... I want a T6, but I might have to get the regular 2.9.

I'd hate to be on a plane with you being the pilot, I would not be surprised if the crew decided to hijack the plane because the pilot was loony.....

i think 165 HP is not enough. S80 weigts a lot so i think there should be 185HP engine. 165HP is enough to s60.
Volovo rules :)
csereal 3 years ago
Yeah I agree, but then there's a lot of torque. Power is for top end speed where's torque is for acceleration.
The D5 (136kw or 185hp) has a torque of 400Nm @ 2000rpm :)
godzillat6 3 years ago
Naa torque isnt for acceleration, power is for acceleration. Torque is a measure of how well an engine can maintain its power under load.
Lots of torque is good for towing or going up hills but reasonably useless for going from 0-60.
