I'm jealous of Paul's stein! Those things have become so rare. Amazing band. If you are watching this video and don't have their music or only have a couple of songs: go get "Focus" and "Traced in Air". Bands such as Cynic are a rarity, the more you listen to them the more you find meaning in their music. They are such a deep band. Every song is amazingly well-written and played.
So true. I'm a big Meshuggah fan and I had never heard of Cynic before they paired for the tour with Meshuggah. I picked up their album and it was okay, and I didn't enjoy their music at the concert. Now I find myself listening to Traced in Air over and over.
Incredible song. My second fave on the record. Despite the poor audio in this clip, it really seems to translate well live. Paul and his band are fucking incredible, what a rare, talented bunch.
@beelzybub666 i think the mars volta is more like pink floyd than cynic. opeth, too, if floyd was a death metal band :). cynic is proggy tech space rock
That's exactly what I said in 1993 when I first heard Focus. And in 16 years... that statement is truer than ever.
Paul is the most humble and underrated musician I can think of. This guy came up with and through Monstrosity, Obituary, Pestilence, Morbid Angel, Death, Malevolent Creation, Eternal Torment, Cannibal Corpse, Carcass, Entombed, Suffocation, Immolation, fucking you name it, he's played in some of these bands and been on stage with all of them. But Cynic remains the shining jewel.
I wish they would get the song title right "INTEGRAL BIRTH"...this song on the actual recording kicks ass!!!...the sound quality on this upload is not good...paul masvidal has a cool voice!
Unfortunately it was the same at the concert, but only from the side that I was. Tymon's guitar was in the left channel and Paul's guitar was in the right channel only! Bloody sound engineer!! On Sentiement there were no vioce at all - mike didn't work!!!
Besides - what's the baseplayer name? I thought it should be Cris Cringel.
integral birth

Nice, the snare was too loud when I went to see them, and the mics were quiet, couldnt hear the growls, so i was creaming a million doves myself.
