You don't talk about the sweat on You Tube--it is not appropriate. I can already tell a white person is doing this--an Indian wouldn't disrespect the lodge.
@jonathonlb It is for everyone--but remember that Indian people were subject to cultural genocide. Land needs to be given back and acknowledgment of past wrongs.
As American Indian people, we have to deal with imitators, frauds, culture vultures, hangers-on and those interested in the romance and novelty they see and that has been perpetuated of our images via damaging media stereotypes. Many non-Natives have become mimics, such as new agers entranced by myths, greeting cards, inaccurate historical portrayals and popular people in the entertainment industries -- all who have, and continue to float around the fringes of Indian country and our lives.
This is what happens when ceremonies are stolen and nothing is ever done the real way and i feel that this is wrong. whoever this lady thinks she is what did she say shaman lmao!!!
@tokes073 Nothing can be stolen, for nothing is owned. Creator owns creation, not humans.Everything is a gift that is re-created over & over. As long as anything but divine love & acceptance rules in any human's heart, then that wounded human, will pick on others & their ways. Please heal by opening your heart to all people, all cultures & all ways realizing this is the age of transformation, not through continuing separation & discrimination, but by the golden rule, live & let live.
@doreenmarybray However, lets also recognize that the Native people have been caretakers of these ways for a very long time, even at great sacrifice of their own, so this needs be respected.
@doreenmarybray Good point, that these ways belong to the Creator. None of us 'own' anything; we are merely its caretaker, for the benefit of all of life. Only S/he can ultimately judge whether these ways are being properly used or are being abused; and only S/he can really knows what is in the hearts of any of us.
enough with the inner demons, what about inner angels/celestials? bohpoli, wakpa wiccone, the sidhe, the dryads, i dabbled in a little kaballah, and its not good to dwell on negative for so long, every demon is actually an angel, this is true, the celestial is the whole circle, the demonic is when you see one peice ofthe circle and try to seperate it but let it come back to wholness and it becomes angelic, this is the way the universe is, everything is divine! THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING IS ALLL!!
@rainbowaon Yes Dear Rainbowaon I totally agree. It is humans that create separation, suffering, demons and evil. When we are One within ourselves, we move into Oneness with Creator and all things created & once aligned & united in this world, we awaken to the realization that nothing exists but Love. Love is the true power. Love will heal us all. May the Creator's highest, purest & most humbling powers of Grace & Love, lift & transform you into the Divine Loving being You Are.
@rainbowaon Yes Dear One, You are soooo right! Separation is what causes all the ills of human existence. Love & acceptance brings that which has been separated back into wholeness, wellness & alignment with the mysterious and powerful grace gifted Divine Creator. Only Love matters. Loving You, Doreen
seriously, lets chill out with the 'mason' stuff, lets just relax and calm down and be who we are, if thats around whatever, just dont focus on it, energy flows where attention goes, we put our attention on nature andd the trees instead
@doreenmarybray thanks... everything is God, all thats worth doing is remembering God and seeing God in every thing and being in love with it all for no reason, in all these letters, all these feelings, all these lessons, there is truly only God in so many ways, it makes no sense yet its the deepest truth, in God all is forever TO BE HOPELESSLY IN LOVE WITH EVERYTHING IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE IS JUDAISM!
@Nativeonly100 don't be so exclusive in your teachings, stop making casinos instead make health centers and spirit temples, people would go, yr saying they took our lands but u say no land can be owned, sweat lodge is a universal tradition, we are all one people, we need ur teachings, we are all part of the tribe, all one tribe, rainbow family, people of all colors, we are choctaw and i think we must come out and stop the division, relax and realize ppl of all colors are against decolonization
@rainbowaon Oh what a beautiful soul you are. Your truth is dear to hear and it is obvious the light & peace of Creator has graced your mind, heart & soul. Bless you Dear One. With Love, Doreen
@Nativeonly100...I did not take your land. It was the government that did the most unthinkable crimes ever committed & they still do, not just to natives, but to everyone who stands in their way. At this great time in history we can finally understand the crimes committed & stand together against the governments who enslave us all. It is time for Oneness & coming together, not more separation, isolation and desolation. We are weak standing alone, we are powerful standing together.
Finally, I do agree with you about Anger coming from Hurt. Instead of complaining about a system that you don't feel is fair, why don't you go and change it? Be proactive in your community and try to make a difference. We don't solve issues by attacking a video on youtube, all we do is make her check her updates. Last, quit talking as though you represent an entire group. There are many tribes and ethnicities, and we all are independent of your thoughts. Doreen, here is my native permission. ok?
@scaryspice1 You have brought a smile to my face and great joy to my heart. You are such a blessing to the people of the world and to your community. May your thoughts, ideals and pure heart help you heal the ills & wrong doings of all our ancestors and as you do, bring light& healing to all those you touch. Blessings and Love to You, Doreen
As for charging to see a sacred ceremony is exploitation, I would love to see you refuse to help pay for the powwow (through admission fees and other charges) and argue that it is "exploitation". Don't be angry because you aren't gettng part of the profits. Also, as you too are a guest of the land you live on, quit throwing rocks when you live in a glass house.
Once again, I'm very interested what tribe you are a part of. You say she's living on land that was forcefully taken from native americans, but the reason why many of the tribes west of the mississippi settled there was because of the Iroquois Confederation taking their original land. Who is still suffering the consequences? If you feel hatred towards white people because of actions that happened decades ago, you are living in the past. Do descendents of slaves cringe when they see a cherokee?
When have the americans apologized? I don't know, maybe when they created more than 30 different federal programs to support native americans, and help them recieve necessary living materials in addition to even providing grants to help underprivileged native americans. What have you done recently? I mean besides attacking random strangers because you obviously have nothing better to do.
Furthermore, if you want to talk about disenfranchised people, we could easily bring African-Americans into this. As I seem to recall, even native american tribes owned slaves. Maybe you have heard of the Cherokee taking back the membership of former black slaves who have lived amongst them for more than 150 years? Do you plan on giving your property to the africans you wronged? Or are you giving your property to the other tribes? Please let me know, I'm really interested.
@mewabe4: How do native people feel? Our land was taken, our way of life is gone, our culture is absent, our languages don't exist, and we don't have any resources. What tribe are you apart of? My tribe at least makes attempts to fix what is broken instead of blaming others. Besides, the land wasn't ours to begin with. Other tribes before us had the land, and older tribes before them had the land. Taking land didn't start with the wasishus, it started amongst ourselves.
@mewabe4: Who are you? Hopefully not native american, because as an American Indian, I would be extremely disappointed to read comments by a person who: 1.)Clearly does not know American Indian History and 2.)Is trying to create a conflict about a video that is very peaceful and informative. What is your purpose here anyways? What were you trying to accomplish besides making yourself look like a hateful fool?
Part 6: Anger comes from hurt. Native people continue to be hurt under a culture that opposes their values and only shows them lip service and general contempt (officially apologizing yet hurting them with the tar sands, for example). When Native people say no, don't take this, don't do this, no one listens. As a woman, when you say no, what response do you expect? Please look with your heart. Please respect the hearts of Native people, and their wishes regarding these ceremonies. Megwetch.
@mewabe4 Dear One, What hurts one person hurts another. There is no division. The tar sands hurts not just natives, but all of humanity, Mother Earth & the natural kingdoms, & Creator. It is up to all of us to voice these injustices together, as one people, one voice. If we don't learn to stand together as One, we will perish& the earth will perish. Respecting all people, all ideologies & bringing them together to help heal the planet is the direction. For Love of Creator & Life, Doreen
Part 5: Doreen, I respect your desire to follow the spiritual path. But please hold these thoughts carefully in your heart, and let them mature of their won accord and in their own time, without rushing to conclusions. From the Native perspective, it would be different if you used a sweat lodge for yourself only. But to do a ceremony for others is an entirely different matter. You are using something that is very close to Native people's hearts. If they say no, what should be your response?
Part 4: To take anything from anyone against their will is akin to rape. It is particularly egregious when done against a people who have and continue to suffer so much under a foreign culture, and when done by the descendants of those who caused the suffering. Again please think about this...if you have any love for Native people, please respect their thoughts and feelings regarding their own ceremonies. To do the opposite of this is read as contempt.
@mewabe4 On the contrary, I have the blessings from all those who have taught me throughout my lifetime of teachings. I have taken nothing against anyone's will. I live, breathe & do the work the Creator asks of me...not as man asks. I am a mix of all people, including native. But it is what is in my soul that counts, not in my blood, What matters & is really important here is that people heal through my highest & purest thoughts, feelings & actions. With Love & Blessings, Doreen
Part 3: I am sure you have already thought a great deal about it. I am suggesting that you do so without defenses or justifications to anyone. This is similar to the problem of Indian sport mascots in the US. The main dubious argument is that the mascots "honor" Indians...but if the mascots make Native people feel hurt and disrespected, that is what matter, as long as the issue is the use of Native cultural identity. You honor Native people by honoring their traditional thoughts and feelings.
Part 2: you say, about the past, you did not do it. But you are living in another people's house, so to speak...so the least to do is show them respect, and respect their (reasonable) will even if it contradict yours, because you are a guest, unless you believe in the idea of conquest and of the spoils of war...which would not be very spiritual, would it? Of all the awful things happening in the world, what you are doing is very minor. I am not attacking you, only inviting you to reflect.
@mewabe4... I, as you, & all of creation lives in the house of the Creator. Land, this earth & all within it does not belong to any man. We have been blessed with it, It is the garden & we each have the power to make it a beautiful, loving and caring place for our children & for all generations to come to grow & play upon. We are the gardeners. The caretakers. The ones who came to birth a better world. I am doing my part, as Spirit has birthed & guided me to do. With Love&Respect,Doreen
@mewabe4 I live in the house of God, of Creator. I live on the land that Creator created for it's children. I am a child of Creator. No man owns land. We all only borrow it for our short life. Creator's childrens job is to heal the land & bring the land back to it's pristine nature. We are suppose to be the gardeners and the caretakers. Now, at this great time in history it is important to return to loving one another & assisting each other into Oneness & toward our highest divinity.
New comment part 1: Thank you Doreen, I appreciate your willingness to have a dialogue. We all have free will, the intend here is not to forbid anyone from doing anything, but to invite reflection. We can't think too carefully on these things.
We are talking about a sacred ceremony here, not a discipline like yoga. Intent is everything. Your intent may be good, yet when you charge, even little, for such a thing as a sacred ceremony, there is a contradiction, there is exploitation.
@mewabe4 No exploitation...at all. I only charge for the food and the time spent with them (approximately 5 hours) before the sweat. The sweat part is free. But important to note is that it takes me 3 days in the least, to prepare for a sweat. If I gave it all without being gifted back in some way, then I would be the one being exploited. A balance of give and take is necessary for all humans in all endeavours. Wishing only the highest and purest outcomes in your life for 2012!
Not trying to give you a bad time Doreen, but if you are going to act irresponsibly, which is what most wasishus do by the way, you are going to be called on it by Native people. There are plenty of "healing modalities" you can use within your own culture, without playing Indian. Or do a Celtic sweat...the memory of it must be in your dna.
What you should ask yourself and your followers is: what are you looking for? Are you lost, empty? Do you know who you are? Be real!
@mewabe4 Dear Mewabe4, Never in any moment is this video meant to disrespect anything or anyone, especially Creator. My entire life is lived as a dedication to Spirit. I do not practice any one particular way, nor follow any one religion, one cultures belief systems nor will I be held responsible for the governments past unhealed horrors. I wish I could right them, but they are done. Today we all blend beliefs. Imagine if I couldn't practice yoga or meditation because wasn't Indian from India.
And Doreen, it is not a matter of what belongs to whom, but of context. You don't decide to become a shaman like you decide to become a yogi, you are chosen and called such by the people, in the native ways. You don't promote yourself.
The problem with your sweat is also context. You live on a land that was forcefully taken from Native people, who are still suffering the consequences. You are not honoring them this way, only demonstrating that you too think you can take anything you want.
Doreen, don't you understand how Native people FEEL? Everything has been taken from them, lands, ways of life, cultures, languages, resources, EVERYTHING BUT THEIR SOULS. When have Americans and the government apologized for any of it? Have you? When have Americans given anything back? Do you plan to give Native people your property when you leave this world?
Have you respectfully ASKED if you could use the ceremony?
When will wasishus stop stealing from Natives and lying to themselves?
This is typical New Age...Honestly, Doreen, if you are going to "do your own thing", why not doing it all the way? Why poorly imitate Native American ways, why not build a sweat out of stone or wood planks and create your very own ceremony? Why using cedar and sweet grass and not frankincense? Do you think you give yourself some "legitimacy" and "authority" in the eyes of gullible people badly copying Native American ways?
Different forms of indigenous sweat practices date back over 2,000 yrs. American Indian Sweat Lodge; Finnish Sauna; Greek Sweat Bath; Irish Sweat House; Japanese Mushi-Buro and Korean Jim Jil Bang; Jewish Shvitz; Islamic Hammam;Mayan Sweat House; Mexican and Central American Temescal and Inipi; Roman Balnea and Thermae; Russian Bania; Scythian Sweatbath; and South African Sifutu. The oldest remaining sweat ritual structure is Celtic. It dates back to 1500 B.C.
Bless you Dear One. Please understand that no one can take anything from you because nothing belongs to you. All things under the sun and within the cosmos belongs to Creator, only . All paths lead there and a path is just that, only a path.
May you find blessings, light and divine love on yours.
ur crazy tell me if u think u know so much waht is the first prayer song? what do u not do when the first rocks r brot in ? what do u use when the first rocks r brot in do wemon go first or men were do they sit? who puts the water on therocks? have u fast for 7 years have u gone to sundance ? how many times ? have u recieved ur feathers? what is the name of the song first sang ? how many rocks r used? how many rounds if u cant answer correctly then u r not allowed to hold these lakota sweats.
@TheBiggestmoose There's nothing pointing to Lakota ways in this video.
I find it hard to believe that natives who are suppose to be spiritual are so aggressive & lack humanity. .I pray you become what you came to be, someone spreading acceptance & blessings for all races & all nations. People have spread hate for thousands of years making us kill one another, creating separation & segregation. This is the generation born to bring Earth Mother back to Love. I plan to do what I came to do. Love.
@doreenmarybray This video is based on Lakota Way, you to this ceremony dishonor when used by unknowing people, but you will have to live with that, please do not mistake Lakota s responsibility to speak up when our ways are used in such a manner as "aggressive and lack of humilty".
@TheBiggestmoose im not tryin to be mean or hurt you in any way there teachings to this way of life and there r understanding to this way of life its not like a white church were any one can be a priest or pasture years and years of fasting and sundancing it takes befor you are givin the rite to pour that medicine on those rocks and even then alot who sacrifce still dont have the knowledge or understanding. anyways thank u 4 the response if u would like2 continue this ledoux_justin@yahoo.ca
I will NOT accept this usurping of something meant for good. As I listen to her words, I feel strange, because that is not how it is done, not with her words...be careful...LIES!
This is a tainting of an ancient ceremony! why is it recorded?!! It is not sewn.. LIES...you are misrepresenting something..the terms used do not show proper respect, this is a hollow imitation of what should be done in Ojibway or some other first people's language...be careful.
@914light ~Bless you dear 914light! You are so cute and very funny! I definitely do drive and smile & bless everyone whose eyes meet mine. And I so appreciate your comment about being odd because that puts me in alignment with some of the greatest people who have walked this planet :>) Thank you and God bless. With Love, Doreen
A beautiful peaceful video, A good feeling for what it's about and the love and caring. Well done Doreen. It surprises me how a peaceful video explanation of your efforts to help people in your own way, calls up such anger and resentment in some people. Since it is your version and it has worked to help so many people, maybe you should change it's name to something that better represents your spiritual healing process and doesn't threaten others who are offended by you not doing it their way.
@MBBTraining You are such a dear and caring soul. Thank you for being you. The world dearly needs more people like you in it. Please continue to be a light, for who you are lights even the darkest of places. Bless you and your journey Dear One. Love, Doreen
your playing a dangerous game here women...your wrong and no such thing as an apprentice....you should pray very hard for your wrong doing .. someone is going to get hurt cause of you.. you DO NOT play with it like you do....pray hard for yourself.. and ask for forgiveness for tainting such a ceremony ......
@WeekOfThePioneer Dear weekofthepioneer, After over 500 sweats & almost 20 years of giving them on both Native grounds with & for Natives along with non-natives, as a therapeutic tool & as an amazing aide to assist all who wish to heal their fragmented or shattered selves, I see this practice as a glorious gift from Creator. These sweats are only given in love, to nurture & heal through love & I stand ready to help & to assist anyone wishing to heal using any tools creator gives to his children.
What a great presentation! Having participated in many Swet with you Doreen, I fetl like I was fully there with you all... in mind and spirit. Yes... each time, during the whole process, the oneness I experienced with nature and all living beings was absolutely wonderful and, for me, this is how a real creative live is. It is so natural to allow ourself to be reborn in your presence Doreen because you are so full of light, love, freedom of being your true self and a great inspiring Shaman.
@ElKadySami Wow, you touch my heart and soul each time I meet you, each time we speak, each time I hear your name. Bless you Sami. You are a real light warrior. You always stand so strong and proud of all you are and all you do. You are an inspiration to me and to all who know you. Thank you for your gracious and beautiful inspiring words. And because of who you are, you have brought beauty and grace here now as well :>) Love you!!! Doreen
Dear Sweet Sunnysoil, Writing such inspirational and uplifting words touches my heart & clearly speaks of the true loving nature of your being. Bless you a million times over. If the world was filled with those who inspire as you do we would all live in a world of love, peace, blessings and smiles . My heart goes out to you & I pray all you came to heal, and all you came to be, blossoms out from all that you are. Love you!
I really appreciated getting some background on this spiritual practice. From where I stand, I don't care so much about who "owns" this practice but rather how transformed I feel when I am done. Doreen is an incredibly gifted person whose work has freed me from a long battle with pain and illnesses. Part of the therapy were sweat lodges, and I can honestly say I felt transformed. Thank you Doreen for daring to be unconvential and bring age old wisdom to those seeking it.
@doreenmarybray i love you too Doreen <3 I remember the first time i met you it was like crazy overwhelming love and happiness. Love you so much and I'm happy that I can say I know you! miss your amazing hugs by the way <3 <3 <3
Yeah, this video is a little over the top. How do you expect to be taken seriously when you can't be bothered to spellcheck your own video? Also, if you're going to emphasize something in the video description, don't use single quotes. Don't use double quotes either. Use italics, sparingly.
@basilberntsen Thank you dear sweet soul for your help. I love how beautifully helpful and kindhearted everyone is. We really are beginning to create a new, loving world. Thank you again. Blessings and Peace to you.
We each have our mission here on earth to do good, spread love, peace and blessings and bring ourselves back into onesness with God, with creator. It is up to each one of us to stop condemning one another and instead support and lift., love and assist, pray and bring peace to, help heal and create sanctuary for, and most of all, to dissolve all racist types of stereo-typing...or peace will never be ours. let's pray together. Let's change the world together. Thank you for commenting. I love YOU!
Wonderful, I love it! God bless each one of you. First off...There is no spam here or fraudulent activities. if you read up in the history books you will find that sweat lodge ceremonies goes back thousands of years before the Native Americans began them. Sweating in prayer and sacredness connected to earth, the elements and God does not belong to Natives! It belongs to all humans! Secondly, spirituality belongs to no man, white, yellow, red, black skin or the beautiful mixes we see today.
@squashblossomgrl You are so sweet.Thank you for your honesty regarding your thoughts & desires.I love you. I love strong people. You are especially filled with divine spirit. It shows from the importance you radiate out into your life & into the world around you.Go girl go! I want you to know that I honor your thoughts & suggestions as I can tell they are heartfelt. I send you deep loving blessings & pray your heart heal & your wounds dissolve in honor of peace, harmony & love for all people.
You shouldn't base your opinions of people of solely what you see. Doreen is the most amazing beautiful spiritual person I know and she is the farthest thing of having a big ego. You really shouldn't spend your time spreading hate.
@xoxMADDIEeeexox No one is spreading hate - NATIVE AMERICANS are telling the truth. Just because you HATE the truth, YOU shouldn't label it as hate. Native people know a fraud when we see one and this woman is a ridiculous, foolish fraud. She gets everything WRONG because she should NOT be leading a sweat. She's a big fake, egotistical fraud. She'll kill someone some day.
@squashblossomgrl I love you even more now! God, you are intense. I love your strength & your fire. Love only loves, love only heals. It doesn't take the color of ones skin to know how to love or how to heal through love. You are beautiful and divine, as are all God's children. But God knows we all love to judge one another, but we each also know that this is only God's job, no one elses. So let's just love one another. This is what life is about. I love you!
@xoxMADDIEeeexox You dear sweet soul. What an angel of light! And quite a warrior too :>)
I love you Maddie! You are an incredible young lady and I know your heart...it is as large as the ocean is deep, and more. blessings to you wonderful angel. Love, love, love!
@moosemeateater Wow, love the name. You sound beautiful. Thank you for your opinion. I love it & really appreciate your thoughts. But youtube didn't post it, I did. We are all creatures of earth. We are beautiful & divine beings having a human experience. Being human makes us think we are separate, but we are not, we are One. One Nation, One Creator, One heaven, One Mother Earth, One person looking out thinking they are alone & separate yet they are One. Bless you Dear Moosemeateater. I love you
Ditto. This woman doesn't know what she's talking about. She's either an greedy fraud with a big ego playing Indian or she's too stupid to know she's been taught by frauds to do a sham of a sweat lodge ceremony. She gets just about everything wrong and it looks like she has a really big ego. She may think she's a 'shaman' but real Natives know she's just another wannabe charlatan!
DoreenMaryBray you are a disrespectful fraud! There is no difference between this fake, distorted sweat lodge and the one James Ray conducted. Telling people it only takes 8 years of apprenticeship to be a ‘shaman’ is proof that you are a liar and a fraud. Take this video down NOW! Anyone who would be stupid enough to partake of this spiritual pornography is asking for harm to befall on their families. Beware of Frauds like Doreen Mary Bray!
@firstnationsfirst Thank you for sharing. I love this! You are genuinely great & I can also tell you are very proud. This is good. I love you. I love proud people. I love your nation. I love all nations. I love all of creation. We are all children of the great spirit as we will all return to the great spirit after. We are all ONE. We may seem separate now, but this is an illusion. Everything belongs to everyone. We are all ONE. Thank you for sharing. i love you with all my soul. Blessings to you
This video is disrespectful to Native American spiritual practices and contains NUMEROUS errors. The author is not entitled to be involved in the Inipi ceremony in any way and should know better than to put something like this on the internet. The sweat lodge is NOT universal. This is a LIE that FRAUDS tell. No one with any legitimate knowledge about indigenous spirituality would put something like this on Youtube. VERY DISRESPECTFUL. Flagged & reported to YouTUBE.
@nmcrowhopper Any Native American who lives in the same state as Doreen Mary Bray should be contacting the attorney general and DEMANDING that she be prosecuted for fraud. She is NOT entitled to conduct a sweat lodge and the lies she is peddling are dangerous. She gets just about everything wrong. Her plastic sweat lodge is disgusting, inauthentic and OFFENSIVE to REAL Native Americans. She needs to be stopped! Flagged & Reported to YOUTUBE for RACISM
@firstnationsfirst This woman belongs in jail, not leading a sweat! If anybody knows where she is, they need to contact the nearest branch of the American Indian Movement - they know how to take care of frauds like her!
@firstnationsfirst You are adorable. I love you. I love your nation. I love mine. I love God. I love nature and all of creation. I bless you and will pray to creator to love and protect you. You are truly beautiful and I honor your sharing greatly. Thank you..
@nmcrowhopper I love you. No entitlement needed to love others. We each heal through love. Each ceremony is done through love, nothing else. Nothing is stolen. nothing is lost. We are all ONE.
@nmcrowhopper I am with you on this one...so much lies she said..no such thing as an apprentice, always people like this set up the same hierarchy which lost them their own drum, long ago...ANOTHER FRAUD, LIKE JAMES RAY!
You don't talk about the sweat on You Tube--it is not appropriate. I can already tell a white person is doing this--an Indian wouldn't disrespect the lodge.

@michelleshiningelk I agree--there is people playing with this out there--but many of these people don't know what they are doing--witness Sedona.

seriously, lets chill out with the 'mason' stuff, lets just relax and calm down and be who we are, if thats around whatever, just dont focus on it, energy flows where attention goes, we put our attention on nature andd the trees instead

i dont use these terms like 'the white man' or 'devil' because they
just seem to be a part of something that doesn't have to do with the
point and just cause anger, they come from the failures of confucist
ideologies, and stir up the senses to create a suckier world each
rainbowaon 2 months ago
time, without much progress, they are just ugly words, along with the
n word in my opinion. they seem to have so much momentum, but i don't
worry about that, i don't judge people for saying them depending on
context, it just gives me a bad trip personally, and i would never use
it, because they just remind me of times that were so lame and stupid.
rainbowaon 2 months ago
they dont need to be reinvoked. its still just putting down a
generalized mass and its too general to be effective. its not races
who are the problems, its specific corporations and things who try to
use that as psychology.. thats my philosophy, i still wouldn't call
them 'the man' though or 'devil' i dont know why, i just dont like to
use that kind of terminology, thats just not my style. Also just
rainbowaon 2 months ago
because the 'D****' is a bastardize term for Kernunnos who is not evil
at all, again it is the commercialism which made that perception by
making so many images with horrible feng shui, but Kernunnos is
actually a God of compassion and of truth, seeing through illusion. I
think if you lost equanimity and started using these terms which I
don't use, you'de fall into the same trap of commercialism and non
truth.

Nativeonly100 2 months ago
@Nativeonly100 don't be so exclusive in your teachings, stop making casinos instead make health centers and spirit temples, people would go, yr saying they took our lands but u say no land can be owned, sweat lodge is a universal tradition, we are all one people, we need ur teachings, we are all part of the tribe, all one tribe, rainbow family, people of all colors, we are choctaw and i think we must come out and stop the division, relax and realize ppl of all colors are against decolonization

As for charging to see a sacred ceremony is exploitation, I would love to see you refuse to help pay for the powwow (through admission fees and other charges) and argue that it is "exploitation". Don't be angry because you aren't gettng part of the profits. Also, as you too are a guest of the land you live on, quit throwing rocks when you live in a glass house.
scaryspice1 2 months ago
Once again, I'm very interested what tribe you are a part of. You say she's living on land that was forcefully taken from native americans, but the reason why many of the tribes west of the mississippi settled there was because of the Iroquois Confederation taking their original land. Who is still suffering the consequences? If you feel hatred towards white people because of actions that happened decades ago, you are living in the past. Do descendents of slaves cringe when they see a cherokee?
scaryspice1 2 months ago
When have the americans apologized? I don't know, maybe when they created more than 30 different federal programs to support native americans, and help them recieve necessary living materials in addition to even providing grants to help underprivileged native americans. What have you done recently? I mean besides attacking random strangers because you obviously have nothing better to do.
scaryspice1 2 months ago
Furthermore, if you want to talk about disenfranchised people, we could easily bring African-Americans into this. As I seem to recall, even native american tribes owned slaves. Maybe you have heard of the Cherokee taking back the membership of former black slaves who have lived amongst them for more than 150 years? Do you plan on giving your property to the africans you wronged? Or are you giving your property to the other tribes? Please let me know, I'm really interested.
scaryspice1 2 months ago
@mewabe4: How do native people feel? Our land was taken, our way of life is gone, our culture is absent, our languages don't exist, and we don't have any resources. What tribe are you apart of? My tribe at least makes attempts to fix what is broken instead of blaming others. Besides, the land wasn't ours to begin with. Other tribes before us had the land, and older tribes before them had the land. Taking land didn't start with the wasishus, it started amongst ourselves.
scaryspice1 2 months ago
@mewabe4: Who are you? Hopefully not native american, because as an American Indian, I would be extremely disappointed to read comments by a person who: 1.)Clearly does not know American Indian History and 2.)Is trying to create a conflict about a video that is very peaceful and informative. What is your purpose here anyways? What were you trying to accomplish besides making yourself look like a hateful fool?
scaryspice1 2 months ago
Part 6: Anger comes from hurt. Native people continue to be hurt under a culture that opposes their values and only shows them lip service and general contempt (officially apologizing yet hurting them with the tar sands, for example). When Native people say no, don't take this, don't do this, no one listens. As a woman, when you say no, what response do you expect? Please look with your heart. Please respect the hearts of Native people, and their wishes regarding these ceremonies. Megwetch.
mewabe4 2 months ago
@mewabe4 Dear One, What hurts one person hurts another. There is no division. The tar sands hurts not just natives, but all of humanity, Mother Earth & the natural kingdoms, & Creator. It is up to all of us to voice these injustices together, as one people, one voice. If we don't learn to stand together as One, we will perish& the earth will perish. Respecting all people, all ideologies & bringing them together to help heal the planet is the direction. For Love of Creator & Life, Doreen
doreenmarybray 2 months ago
Part 5: Doreen, I respect your desire to follow the spiritual path. But please hold these thoughts carefully in your heart, and let them mature of their won accord and in their own time, without rushing to conclusions. From the Native perspective, it would be different if you used a sweat lodge for yourself only. But to do a ceremony for others is an entirely different matter. You are using something that is very close to Native people's hearts. If they say no, what should be your response?
mewabe4 2 months ago
Part 4: To take anything from anyone against their will is akin to rape. It is particularly egregious when done against a people who have and continue to suffer so much under a foreign culture, and when done by the descendants of those who caused the suffering. Again please think about this...if you have any love for Native people, please respect their thoughts and feelings regarding their own ceremonies. To do the opposite of this is read as contempt.
mewabe4 2 months ago
@mewabe4 On the contrary, I have the blessings from all those who have taught me throughout my lifetime of teachings. I have taken nothing against anyone's will. I live, breathe & do the work the Creator asks of me...not as man asks. I am a mix of all people, including native. But it is what is in my soul that counts, not in my blood, What matters & is really important here is that people heal through my highest & purest thoughts, feelings & actions. With Love & Blessings, Doreen
doreenmarybray 2 months ago
Part 3: I am sure you have already thought a great deal about it. I am suggesting that you do so without defenses or justifications to anyone. This is similar to the problem of Indian sport mascots in the US. The main dubious argument is that the mascots "honor" Indians...but if the mascots make Native people feel hurt and disrespected, that is what matter, as long as the issue is the use of Native cultural identity. You honor Native people by honoring their traditional thoughts and feelings.
mewabe4 2 months ago
Part 2: you say, about the past, you did not do it. But you are living in another people's house, so to speak...so the least to do is show them respect, and respect their (reasonable) will even if it contradict yours, because you are a guest, unless you believe in the idea of conquest and of the spoils of war...which would not be very spiritual, would it? Of all the awful things happening in the world, what you are doing is very minor. I am not attacking you, only inviting you to reflect.
mewabe4 2 months ago
With Love&Respect,Doreen
doreenmarybray 2 months ago
@mewabe4 I live in the house of God, of Creator. I live on the land that Creator created for it's children. I am a child of Creator. No man owns land. We all only borrow it for our short life. Creator's childrens job is to heal the land & bring the land back to it's pristine nature. We are suppose to be the gardeners and the caretakers. Now, at this great time in history it is important to return to loving one another & assisting each other into Oneness & toward our highest divinity.
doreenmarybray 1 month ago
New comment part 1: Thank you Doreen, I appreciate your willingness to have a dialogue. We all have free will, the intend here is not to forbid anyone from doing anything, but to invite reflection. We can't think too carefully on these things.
We are talking about a sacred ceremony here, not a discipline like yoga. Intent is everything. Your intent may be good, yet when you charge, even little, for such a thing as a sacred ceremony, there is a contradiction, there is exploitation.
mewabe4 2 months ago
@mewabe4 No exploitation...at all. I only charge for the food and the time spent with them (approximately 5 hours) before the sweat. The sweat part is free. But important to note is that it takes me 3 days in the least, to prepare for a sweat. If I gave it all without being gifted back in some way, then I would be the one being exploited. A balance of give and take is necessary for all humans in all endeavours. Wishing only the highest and purest outcomes in your life for 2012!
doreenmarybray 2 months ago
Not trying to give you a bad time Doreen, but if you are going to act irresponsibly, which is what most wasishus do by the way, you are going to be called on it by Native people. There are plenty of "healing modalities" you can use within your own culture, without playing Indian. Or do a Celtic sweat...the memory of it must be in your dna.
What you should ask yourself and your followers is: what are you looking for? Are you lost, empty? Do you know who you are? Be real!
mewabe4 2 months ago
@mewabe4 Dear Mewabe4, Never in any moment is this video meant to disrespect anything or anyone, especially Creator. My entire life is lived as a dedication to Spirit. I do not practice any one particular way, nor follow any one religion, one cultures belief systems nor will I be held responsible for the governments past unhealed horrors. I wish I could right them, but they are done. Today we all blend beliefs. Imagine if I couldn't practice yoga or meditation because wasn't Indian from India.
doreenmarybray 2 months ago
And Doreen, it is not a matter of what belongs to whom, but of context. You don't decide to become a shaman like you decide to become a yogi, you are chosen and called such by the people, in the native ways. You don't promote yourself.
The problem with your sweat is also context. You live on a land that was forcefully taken from Native people, who are still suffering the consequences. You are not honoring them this way, only demonstrating that you too think you can take anything you want.
mewabe4 2 months ago
Doreen, don't you understand how Native people FEEL? Everything has been taken from them, lands, ways of life, cultures, languages, resources, EVERYTHING BUT THEIR SOULS. When have Americans and the government apologized for any of it? Have you? When have Americans given anything back? Do you plan to give Native people your property when you leave this world?
Have you respectfully ASKED if you could use the ceremony?
When will wasishus stop stealing from Natives and lying to themselves?
mewabe4 2 months ago
This is typical New Age...Honestly, Doreen, if you are going to "do your own thing", why not doing it all the way? Why poorly imitate Native American ways, why not build a sweat out of stone or wood planks and create your very own ceremony? Why using cedar and sweet grass and not frankincense? Do you think you give yourself some "legitimacy" and "authority" in the eyes of gullible people badly copying Native American ways?
mewabe4 2 months ago
Different forms of indigenous sweat practices date back over 2,000 yrs. American Indian Sweat Lodge; Finnish Sauna; Greek Sweat Bath; Irish Sweat House; Japanese Mushi-Buro and Korean Jim Jil Bang; Jewish Shvitz; Islamic Hammam;Mayan Sweat House; Mexican and Central American Temescal and Inipi; Roman Balnea and Thermae; Russian Bania; Scythian Sweatbath; and South African Sifutu. The oldest remaining sweat ritual structure is Celtic. It dates back to 1500 B.C.

@TheBiggestmoose There's nothing pointing to Lakota ways in this video.
I find it hard to believe that natives who are suppose to be spiritual are so aggressive & lack humanity. .I pray you become what you came to be, someone spreading acceptance & blessings for all races & all nations.
