  • This is an amazing song... used for a TV show that helps Australians in need. Really shows what we believe in. If someone or another country needs our hep, we do our best to raise money as a whole to help them, not sit down and do nothing expecting everyone else to do all the work. So when given the chance, reach out and touch somebody :)

  • new zealand singer... Brilliant!!

  • took me an hour to guess the lyrics to find this song

  • L O V E ONE ANOTHER.

  • wonderful memories....

  • Here's some trivia - I edited this with the director Steve Hopkins, who went on to Hollywood and directed Predator 2, Ghost and the Darkness, Lost in Space, Life and Time of Peter Sellers, co-created 24 and Kalifornia. Talented bastard to say the least. I had sooo many wonderful edit sessions with him. Great band, great director and I'm very proud of this clip ( as well as about 7 others I worked on for the boys)

  • @mozman1111 And so you should be proud, a mighty performance, pure magic! Where was the video clip made?

  • @80sOldSkool I wasn't on the shoot but I believe it was down the South Coast somewhere, not too far down - maybe Kiama. I know he directed a Wa Wa Nee video down there, but this one I'm not sure about. Editing-wise, I cut it in Crows Nest. Thanks for the comments. Youtube is bringing back my working life in the 70's and 80's. Take Me Back, No Lies, Voice of Reason, Welcome to the World and my own directing/editing gig for them, Hot Chilli Woman. I'm blessed to have worked with such great people

  • @mozman1111 It was filmed at Bombo Quarry in Kiama (where also the opening credits for the Aunty Jack Show were filmed)

  • @mozman1111 should have edited out those slow motion horses.

  • @mozman1111 post him your resume!

  • went and saw these guys live about 4 weeks ago in albury australia and let me tell ya it was epically awesome

  • With what has happen in south eastern Queensland this song means so much to us so Reach Out Australia and show the world our fighting spirit and mateship in these difficult times.

  • Amazing song, for years I thought this was U2 lol! Jon Stevens is an amazing song writer Go Aussie!!

  • This song envokes everything that we stand for as Australians, stand for what's right and fight for the good things and just deep down.... to reach out to people. The world is all mixed up of different view points and different cultures and different religions trying to keep it constant. Yet you wonder why the worlds gone nuts, being there for people and being selfless is what makes an Aussie, not by trying be better than others but by showing you care. .

  • @J2TMFK yeah, but you have to admit that horses running in slow motion in a video is pretty lame. Just sayin...

  • @J2TMFK we as Americans need to start acting more like the Aussies, sounds like a nice place to live!

  • Are you kidding me? They've done a lot over the last few years and will be back into it after Christmas.

  • Love this band, love this song, love the times it reminds me of.

Ah to be a young man again! LMAO

I would find it very hard to believe if someone could actually "hate" this song.

  • @JesterToy you don't undestand never the very good song english shhh quiet e don't speak it!!!!!!

  • I saw these guys in Paris, the ticket was really cheap and it came with a free 7-inch. I lost the record when I moved to the States, unfortunately. I could never understand why these guys never made it big. They had it all. Great songs, great sounds, handsome looking, great live musicians... ?!? They could have made it REALLY big. Mystery.

  • Oh and BTW this was one of my best concerts ever.

  • Also an expat looking for aussie vids of the 80s and 90s when I grew up in Australia. Hell Yeah!

have contacted all offices do i really have to re-hash all that.

    ian moss has details.

  • Degafra2 - I think its pathetic that you've made this great Youtube clip a platform for a business whinge. If you have a problem with Noiseworks then contact NOISEWORKS. Dont come on here with this rubbish. Jon's my cousin and its not hard to contact him - unless of course you're just attention seeking at his expense. Why would Ian Moss care about details?

  • Degafra drank all the beer!

  • saw them team up with the choirboys at the hallam hotel last year, absolutely brilliant and just as good as when they first came onto the scene. This is REAL music played by REAL people using REAL instruments.

  • totally awesome

  • I love this song! U2's style.

  • KOL!!!!!!! lol nah this is th first songive heard by noise works and their not bad:)

  • Comment removed

  • Iprefer the acoustic version on the works CD

  • Glad to see people recognise what a great song this is.

This is the difference between "walking the path" and "following the path". Grats to Kings of Leon on their success, but this is the original 'sound' and Kudos to Noiseworks for coming up with it 20 years ago!!

    YOU ROCK.

  • Michael Paynter chose this song for the Memorial Service for Victorian Bushfire victims today. I find it eerie watching the flames licking around the band as they perform the song, given its new context.

  • Get real. What are the lyrics about?

  • Old school - but they rock baby

  • soon as gossip girl finishes...so does leon :)

  • inxs anyone?

  • i've love noisework for 18 years but they never did anything in the u.k ( god knows why) people must have no taste. awesome band and i can't get enough of them. i'll never get to see them live though :(

  • Well of course they've no taste, case in point - Simon Cowell.

  • Ahh finally i find this awesome song.

Heard it on the telstra ad. It rocks!

  • Kings of Leon singers voice is amazingly simliar to Jon's.

  • I agree that the Kings of Lean singer has a very simliar voice. Both bands are great.

  • I was just thinking the same thing. Both their songs are very similar.

They both rock and if you closed your eyes it would be very hard to determine who was singing. Amazing.

  • Must say Jon still looks pretty good saw his performasnce on Domestic Blitz -Biancas Blitz-10/12/08 he hasn't aged a bit. Whats your secret Jon!

  • The beginning of this is beautiful. Horses running free, rivers, mountains, PROUD TO BE AUSTRALIAN!!!

  • Great Fucking Song.

Aussie 80's rock fucking is awesome, and im a kid of the early 90's :P

    Aussie Rock is Awesome!!!

  • great band - great song

  • just wana let ownage know its called Touch not reach out

  • Absolutely beautiful clip from my favourite band.

  • Yes indeed..one of the best albums of the 80's..i have such found memories of this song and i still cherish my signed cd booklet..met them in Germany backstage when they toured there i believe it was 88 or something..

  • Hey, DokterL - I missed out on them when I was living in Hamburg and they played Markthalle. Now I live in an Eastern suburb of Melbourne and tell you what: They'll play a local venue next week!!! It took me 20 years to finally catch them live! Cheers, Volker

  • yeah, i just met them backstage here in Hobart on their current tour. I also have Touch on LP now signed & their latest live cd signed too. The current line up doesn't include original member Justin Stanley on keyboards, they have a replacement for him, but otherwise the line-up is as per '86 till '92.

  • one of the best driving songs... driving up the new england and pacific highways from tamworth to party at byron bay of a weekend...

definitely aussie stuff like this is the best for putting the hard miles in on your VL holden commodore...

  • DEFINITELY GREAT!

  • stuart fraser looks like tom cruise in this!

  • I had forgotten that this song ever existed. Oh the memories

  • funny, i thought i was the only one who remembered this song....i was thinking of it today (7/26/08)while at work, saw images in my head and came home and put together a video....i hope you post my response...if not check it out on my channel...i love this song.

  • So So GOOOOD!

  • First 1.5 minutes are world's best thing the best scenery with great music......just amazing

  • This band should have been huge world wide. They had it all.

  • very nice song! :-)

  • cool new wave song

  • Awesome song and an awesome band.

  • I saw them @ The Glasshouse in Melbourne in

'88 if my memory serves me correctly. Fantastic live show.....lots of energy! This is just my opinion, but Jon Stevens should've been INXS' new frontman when Michael Hutchance (R.I.P) cacked it. He's soooo much better than the Yank reality crap! Anyway, thanks for posting.......brings back a lot of great memories!

  • Jon Stevens did sing with them a few times, for a few years in the late 90s.

  • The song is not called "Reach Out" - it is "Touch".

  • i would like to know which part of the coastline it was that they shot this video. looks south coast? i always loved this video and the song. i on VHS them performing at midem 1990. cool!

  • yeah its bombo beach,kiama.. about 20minutes south of wollongong.... beautiful place, and a haven for surfers and fisherman...

  • Nice - but the song is simply entitled Touch... :)

  • I only found this band quite recently. and im in love with this song

  • An Australian classic. I remember hearing this track a lot when I was in my teenage years!

  • this song is so amazing... <3 it!

  • Aussie bands best in the world

    noiseworks icehouse acdc

  • amen

  • seen this great band in the manly hotel in1986, but in fairness they do sound like a certain irish band of the time!!!!

  • ... dropkick murphys?

  • this is awesome... cheers for posting it x

  • simplesmente maravilhosa, um clássico que mostrou até onde o ser humano pode chegar quando quer fazer algo bem feito, nesse caso a música....
