Orthodoxy has everything you will find in ure search for the ancient Church - this includes unfortunately the disunited church, something Orthodoxy badly needs to deal with before it loses out against an old enemy
12:34 "There were occasional flashes of ecstasy". They only get roughly three hours of sleep per day it mentioned. Are you sure he wasn't just tired and trying to stay awake?? lol
From an Orthodox standpoint, I think this is one of the best, most accurate accounts of the lives of Orthodox monastics that has reached a national audience. Great job, 60 Minutes and CBS! Christ is Risen!
@kimberlanya Couldn't agree more. This segment is helping me rediscover orthodoxy. Haven't been to church in a while, but this makes me want to go back.
Christos Anesti! (Greek for Christ has Risen). This is an outstanding work of CBS network. I spent a few days at Mount Athos a couple of months ago and by watching this video really made me want to go back there, as soon as possible.
I want to congratulate 60 minutes for an excellent and non-bias reporting. It's very refreshing to see it in today's journalism. Maybe the holy mountain inspired them to a higher level of reporting. A miracle indeed!
@cwporterUCSD If gradually brought to it, a person can live like this (provided they have prayer to support their spirit through the day). As I understand it, there is also an hour of rest after the prolonged morning prayers.
Christ Spoke aramaic, and there are not scriptures in tact that are aramaic. so you are WRONG. You DON'T SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OF CHRIST.
