  • wow thanks alot man I was just about to spend $200

  • Im usually to stubborn to subscribe to anyone but u my friend.... i likahh uuu

  • @91ROYO Hahah! I don't know what I did, but thank you! ;)

  • @DaveEricSmith lol naw on the real tho, this video is some clever shit! And i dont have money to blow so this is perfect. Hope u make more like these.

  • @91ROYO Thanks dude. The cheap factor is why I originally decided to do it too. ;)

  • 3 Words

    SO FUCKING AWESOME....

  • Nice idea, but totally useless.

  • A lot of people ask how to mount this once you've finished, and I apologize that I didn't cover it in the video. It's going to vary based on the mic stand/arm that you have. Unfortunately, I didn't plan that part out well and wound up using zip ties to fasten mine. While it isn't very professional, it holds it in place. If someone figures out a good way, please shoot a video and reply to mine! Thank you all! :)

  • U R THE MAN! Excellent video!

  • Question - is the voice over in this video about your DIY GOBO sound dampener shield created using that shield?

  • @insanecaine Indeed it is. ;)

  • how did u clamp it together?

  • AWSOME!!!!!!!

  • Please, Tell Me What You Did To Clamp The Paint Bucket Grids Together. Did You Use Screws?

  • @KMcraeMusic Sorry I didn't video the part where I joined the two paint grids together.... What I did was pryed the metal apart with a flat-head screwdriver into a "V" shape on one grid and slid the other grid into that "V" channel and then clamped it back down.

  • @DaveEricsson Man This Sounds Difficult I Still Don't Understand How You Conjoined Them Together, Do You Have Another Tutorial Of How You Did It?

  • @KMcraeMusic Again, I'm sorry I didn't video that step. If you look at the two tabs of the paint grid, they are just metal folded over on itself. Flatten the ends out, and then stick a screwdriver in between the folded metal and pry apart until you have a V-shaped groove. You can then slide the other paint grid's (straightened) tabs into the groove and clamp down with pliers or a vise. Hope that helps.

  • @DaveEricsson I Get You Now, Also What Did You Do To Make The Gobo To Stand Up On Its Own Behind The Mic?

  • @KMcraeMusic I didn't actually come up with a professional method for mounting, unfortunately. I wound up using wire ties. :P

  • I'm in the middle of building mine, it's coming together nicely! For extra strength I put pop rivets through the tabs after clamping them. A question: Does it matter whether the ridges in the foam are horizontal or vertical, or is that just a cosmetic detail?

  • @bkanderson2659 Great idea! Honestly, I don't know if the directions of the ridges matter. I'm pretty sure the sound will be absorbed by the foam regardless. ;)

  • @DaveEricSmith Cool. That's kind of what I thought. Thanks again for the video, that saved me a ton of money and is proving to be a fun project. :)

  • @DaveEricSmith now umm how do you clamp it to your mic stand? O__O i made one too tehehehehe

  • Awesome helpful video Nd i subbed yu b.t.w

  • @tubefuk08 Thank you! :)

  • Thanks for the video I've viewed many other but they seemed way more complicated to make... My big plus is I work at walmart so I knew where all those things where... And I used zip ties too it was easy took me about half an hour to make thank you...

  • @alcaponebiggs2 Very cool! :)

  • @DaveEricSmith u should make that portable booth!

  • how do I connect it to my mic stand now ?

  • @xXxThePhenomenonxXx That's a good question. I looked at several different clips in the hardware department, but because of the different shapes and surfaces of the mic stand and the gobo, I didn't come up with a good solution. So I used zip ties. :P

  • @DaveEricsson Thanks, if you ever have time do you mind uploading a video explaining that part?

  • nice work..thats pretty neat..have you started on the vocal booth...

  • @UNDERWATERTRAX Thanks! Nope, I got lazy just as I had predicted. :P

  • I'm a little confused on how you clamped the two paint grids together and it stayed and how you bent the grids into a semi-circle. I'd like to do this myself but I'm not very handy!

  • @laurasheamusic If you had a paint grid in your hand, you'd see that the frame is just crimped together (metal folded over onto itself). What I did was pryed one side apart (into a "V" channel) and slid the other grid inside of that channel and crimped it back down. I bent the structure by placing it on a cylindrical object (an 8" subwoofer tube in my case) and gently applying pressure with my palms. You can totally do this! It was very easy. :)
