Man, I am a big fan of the Roth era, but Sammy definitely kills it on this song, and the more I hear performances like this the more I am leaning towards the Van Hagar era!
I love both eras, and this was one of the best times to be a Van Hagar era fan. After the keyboard ballad releases from 5150 and 0U812, it was wonderful to hear VH rock out and be proud of it again (Unlike the last two releases, where all they released were keyboard ballads and almost seemed ashamed of being a guitar rock band, even though there were some awesome rockers on both albums.). F.U.C.K. remains one of the best VH releases ever IMHO, top 5 in the VH catalogue for sure.
Eddie wanted to sound better live, he always knew the audience was important, when I saw them in 2004 in Grenville SC, Eddie said that if anyone was thrown out for smoking a cigarette he would stop playing, it was incredible,
Some might like Dave better, but there is no denying this kicks major ass. The only thing wrong is that Michael and Eddie don't have enough speaker cabinets up there.

@Incurred Ed only ever used 3 heads and 3 cabs on this tour...Steve Lukathiers rig. Follow me please. Go into the main 100 watt head. Out of that head into one 4x12 cab dry. FX left send to delay. FX right send to reverb and -.9 cents pitch shift (chorus effect). FX left returns to another head and 4x12 cab. FX right rtrns to another head and cab. 3 heads. 3 cabs. 2 wet and 1 dry. Notice how only the bottom 3 cabs are ever mic'd on a Van Halen stage? All the others are fake cabs.

He uses three live, but I think the all run seperatly, they just have different settings

He uses the other 2 heads just for power...not even plugged into the pre amp section but just the return input. Just power. The 3 heads are separate. Only the tone settings on the main (dry) head are used. (bass 7 mid 7 treb 3 pres 4 pre 4 master 7)

Sam and Anthony look like middle aged Jimmy Buffet fans who are still stuck in the 80s. Anthony's sporting a mullet at this point. I keep expecting the fans to throw cheeseburgers and tequila on the stage. Al and Ed were the only two in the band with any sense of style, taste and melody. Even Roth became a walking parody of himself toward the end of his tenure. As much as those guys like badmouthing Ed, I think that Sam, Mike and yes even Dave were basically alone for the ride/kicks

Van Halen is great, there is no denying the fact. Likewise Eddie is a great guitarist. But a great MUSICIAN does not require power tools on stage, or any other props or gadgetry, to be great.
If Eddie had died around "1986" after the 5150 album, he'd be widely considered the best rock guitarist ever, except for maybe Jimi. That he lived and had problems with singers, alcohol, etc., many people thought less of him. That'c cuz they're stupid. EVH is the greatest rock guitarist of all time.

Just an opinion but I feel Hagar is the more pleasing singer, LIVE. DLR seems to be the wild intellect that sacrificed live musicality for spectacle. Hagar gives both things, live. I still prefer DLR to Hagar but if I had to choose to see VH in concert with Roth or Hagar, I would keep a gun pointed at DLR offstage taunting his demise unless he hit every note and sang during the backing vocal parts, at all times.
But yeah, Sammy rocks, too (adult contempo cough), the man owns his own island!
FUCK was a great album, perfect for the time. had a real balsy sound and great song writing, they managed to weather the grunge storm when loads of other bands died
I used to have this on VHS, so thanks for posting. For me this was Van Halen at their musical prime. They all were very serious about their live shows, relaxed, happy, and healthy onstage. I love Roth-era stuff but their live shows then were pretty sloppy.

I still think this was their best work sinse the old DLR days and you could even hear Michaels bass on the album for a change. One of the great albums of all time for me definitely.

romospider...very good observation. The reason is that Sammy Hagar is a musician who love performing. David Weave is a bad performer with very little musical talent. Sammy can act and react to the rest of the band and vice versa. With the weave he can't do that making it a one way street. You can't cover for someone with no talen. Oh and also Michael Anthony makes a big difference. Wolfgang just doesn't have the bass or vocal chops of Michael Anthony

Just an opinion but I feel Hagar is the more pleasing singer, LIVE. DLR seems to be the wild intellect that sacrificed live musicality for spectacle. Hagar gives both things, live. I still prefer DLR to Hagar but if I had to choose to see VH in concert with Roth or Hagar, I would keep a gun pointed at DLR offstage taunting his demise unless he hit every note and sang during the backing vocal parts, at all times.
But yeah, Sammy rocks, too (adult contempo cough), the man owns his own island!

FUCK was a great album, perfect for the time. had a real balsy sound and great song writing, they managed to weather the grunge storm when loads of other bands died

I used to have this on VHS, so thanks for posting. For me this was Van Halen at their musical prime. They all were very serious about their live shows, relaxed, happy, and healthy onstage. I love Roth-era stuff but their live shows then were pretty sloppy.

Van Halen with David Lee Roth was very light and fast. Among the best stuff they did with Sammy Hagar was like this: slow and heavy. They should have concentrated on material like this. "Pleasure Dome" of F.U.C.K is another poof of that! Long Live Van Halen !

i miss the days of turning on mtv and watching van halen and other rock and metal bands.todays mtv is gay teen reality shows and they only play music like 6 or 7 hours a week and its mostly hip hop or bands like the fray.

@IBOII5150I if you get this channel in germany then watch VH1 classic...i watch it all the time...its the only channel left that didnt sell out,they always play hard rock and metal and have talk shows about rock and metal...like "that metal show".they have metal mania,behind the music,classic in concert,classic albums,rock fest...and none of that rap,hip hop or R & B shit

I still think this was their best work sinse the old DLR days and you could even hear Michaels bass on the album for a change. One of the great albums of all time for me definitely.

I agree nailband...these geeks today have no clue what it is to be a rockstar....as Gene Simmons once put it, many "rockstars" these days resemble pizza delivery boys that never get laid. Hagar was at his prime during this era.

I saw Van Halen on the Canadian Leg of the same 1991 tour on Canada Day...excellent!!!!!so sad........now we have "guitar heroes" like John Mayer....i wanna puke.

romospider...very good observation. The reason is that Sammy Hagar is a musician who love performing. David Weave is a bad performer with very little musical talent. Sammy can act and react to the rest of the band and vice versa. With the weave he can't do that making it a one way street. You can't cover for someone with no talen. Oh and also Michael Anthony makes a big difference. Wolfgang just doesn't have the bass or vocal chops of Michael Anthony
