What all you idiots driving cars need is a shovel, grit, some elbow grease and get out and clear the snow off your drive. If the roads haven't been cleared and/or gritted and there has been a snow fall, there is one forecast or it is falling I would STRONGLY advise ANYBODY to consider whether their car journey is absolutely essential. All other advice on tires skids etc is lawsuit material.

The usual "check your antifreeze" etc bumf. I would like to have seen a normal small front wheel drive car. I want to know about dropping tyre pressures temporarily and using sand/cat litter to get a grip, getting out of a 20mph skid etc.

The Americans put out far more info on this topic (yes, I know they get more snow/ice!).
