I would punch a baby for some fish and chips right now. I gotta say, just from the description, both actually sound pretty awesome. I wouldn't be opposed to a 'spicy' version of fish and chips every once in a while. Maybe 3 times for every ten times I get fish and chips, it would be alright to try them with a bit of spice. But nothing beats the olde schoole.

No, they're attaching a much deeper insecurity to this pointless competition. Many Britons have a painful inferiority complex in their relation with the US. England gets hammered harder than anyone for their lack of cuisine. But I don't understand how allowing those sentiments to surface in any way defelects notice of them on a Food Network broadcast...

People are far too sensitive about battered cod. Yeah, Bobby called him out. The point is, a relatively non-descript restaurant and its proprietor have been incredibly well-marketted internationally.

From my own position, I have found one place worth trying out when I next visit NYC. I intentionally avoid eating there: not a good ratio of cost to quality. Now, I'll go out of my way to this chippie and try out the hosting brewery.

Fish and chips are like Coke, or Big Macs or Heinz Ketchup, you can make things that look like it, and fill the same need, but its not the same. America has fish and chips, its called a Fillet-O-Fish-and-a-medium-Fri­es... and is probably eaten more in 1 day than british chips in a year. I agreed about over seasoning, i learned from French cooking on bringing out the best flavor of the main ingredients, like they don't use so much of marinade on meats, and that is how i started to appreciate the taste of a roast beef!

Very well said. Iron chef or no Iron chef the fact of the matter is that Bobby has his own TV show he does'nt hide behind his words. He goes out and challenge other cooks at what they do best. He has his own resturants and the bottom line the man is making more money then most chefs in his profesion that has to count for something. Bobby never claim to be the best but for what it's worth would his critic's be willing for a throwdown lol.
