You talk like its our (humans) fault that we would panic.

A elephant in a city area would probably panic himself, noise and unfamiliar environment would freak him about and he would get aggressive. Not his fault ofcourse, he´s scared, its a normal reaction. Tranquilizing him is the most peaceful solution. No-one gets hurt and the elephant is sent back to where ever he came from.

Humans and animals do live in peace most of the time, just don´t do it in a city :)

As adorable as this is, it's sad to think that the elephant is most likely abused in order to be on TV. Elephants are wild animals and as beautiful and sweet as they are, they should not be tamed for our enjoyment, seeing as taming often involves horrific abuse. Elephants are fantastic - let them be free!
