Ever noticed that of all rc jet pilots, the ones who mostly crash their planes are the ones who fly the high speed fighter and sport planes - the ones who's adicted to or obsessed with high speed and nothing else and are never satisfied with the speed their planes fly. It's never fast enough for them. They lose control and the plane crashes or something rips lose, they have no control and the plane crashes or they do tricks, something goes wrong and the plane crashes.
poor guy, I feel the same when one of my scale sailplanes crashes, after 2 years of hard work goes to nothing !!! that's a terrible feeling ! , and in the next day I start making the plans for another scale sailplane !!!
When the Kit for these planes arrives there is nothing to do except gluing some parts. There is nothing to build like there is nothing to build on a Rc heli or on a Rc auto.
If you make the mould of the airplane or the mould of some parts of a auto or heli Yes you can call it Modeling.
Buying ready made parts and put them together has nothing to do with this hobby.

Man i wonder if he got it as an arf or kit? poor man... I have ben in the club for about 2 months now and I have already had a radio problem... it fell out of the sky like a brick!
You'll notice most the cry-babying goes right to the cost of the model jets(how would you know you can't afford one..). Buying and building has nothing to do with being able to fly, obviously. And in most cases, it's bad flying AND bad building all in one aircraft. These are not that difficult to fly-if built properly.
Not to say it doesn't stink to loose an R/C aircraft, but flying R/C turbines isn't some 'mystery skill', it just as basic a skill set as any other aircraft. All the same laws of aerodynamics exist even when exceeding the $5k price point.
These are all crashes at Zwartkops Airforce base South Africa, a premier jet destination, so these must be mostly at national competitions or practice...sad to see months of work and lots of money go in seconds
Three weeks ago a sudden cross-wind on landing cart-wheeled a .60 Cessna I've had for 15 years. Total pilot error. Too low, too slow. That hurt. I can't imagine what these guys go through.

What a stupid choice for RC. Left hand turns, boring flights, but entertaining crashes. Glad you guys can throw $10,000 around for my entertaining pleasure.
I have read so many comments on how it is either right or wrong to cry here, i just cant believe he can do it, i mean if my jet crashed i would would lose it, assuming im not filthy rich, and burn that thing to ashes so bravo for the pilot on keeping calm...and crying.
I have a RC jet fuselage that I built as a static but flyable model. I will never fly it because there is only two types of flying models, those that will crash and those that have crashed. Too much money and work into these. I would have to be extremely rich to fly these on a regular basis. My jet is in one piece for 3 years now and still looks perfect. :)
I tinkered with 1/2A 2 channels and 4 channel trainers back in the 70s and 80s. Sorry but the 10 grand smoking hole won't be mine. If I ever fly again it'll be cheap and piston powered. I went to gas trucks in the 90s, a lot harder to re-kit a car.
i was gutted when my $200 electric ducted fan jet went up in flames so i would be nigh on suicidal if i lost a $3000+ jet ... these are not toys . you have to spend weeks / months working on them . you cant just buy these off a shelf ...poor guys .. funny to some people who dont appreciate them

These people are only shopers of rc model and not modelers meanining that they dont knowv even the airfoil of their model and what is the weak part of it. Because of that you can see many break offs on air.
They are wealthy people who can affort these models or they are owners of rc shops or they have a sponsor behind or they are simply morons.

@johnathanbudd looking at the scale of that one, I'd say the engine alone is worth $2,500 or more (jetcat most probably). you'd invest a LOT on the avionics, TX and RX, servos, infrastructure etc. then there is the time to build it - these things aren't out of a box, they aredesigned and built most probably by fanatical R/C pros. so your talking about $5k+ worth and 2+ years of design and build and test time gone in a second. Its like your home being hit by a bomb and having to watch it burn.

I agree, It really blows when you loose a handbuilt piece of functional art such as a true to scale R/C. I myself have lost 2 due to mechanical failure, not much you can do at 70+MPH.....only wince in pain as it shreds into thousands of pieces and try to save anything you can.

But honestly i do want to point out that was an outstanding recovery on that F-15. quick reflexes saved that one. as for the rest. they looked like dumb thumbs. that F-16 all he had to do was get off the Aileron he would have been fine.

this makes me glad I fly foamies, a crash cost like $10 for new foam and some rebuild time. Those liquid fuel turbines are like $3K-$5K (and that is just for a motor) not including the airframe around it. It does stink to crash, but you have to accept the fact that sometimes you can't control how, when, or where the plane is going to land.

I fly balsa nitro's and brush-less foamies, I have spent upwards of a month building a balsa kit from scratch only to crash it the next day... and I didn't cry about it... why? Because they are TOYS!!...

@johnathanbudd looking at the scale of that one, I'd say the engine alone is worth $2,500 or more (jetcat most probably). you'd invest a LOT on the avionics, TX and RX, servos, infrastructure etc. then there is the time to build it - these things aren't out of a box, they aredesigned and built most probably by fanatical R/C pros. so your talking about $5k+ worth and 2+ years of design and build and test time gone in a second. Its like your home being hit by a bomb and having to watch it burn.

I agree, It really blows when you loose a handbuilt piece of functional art such as a true to scale R/C. I myself have lost 2 due to mechanical failure, not much you can do at 70+MPH.....only wince in pain as it shreds into thousands of pieces and try to save anything you can.

I'm going through all these comments and frankly I'm embarrassed to be in the same hobby as some of you. I thought most of us were intelligent adults that could speak and spell properly and would not be drawn into juvenile arguments with people that are obviously not R/C hobbyists and are obviously not adults.

@importryder Up until your comment I was pretty much on the RC jet guy side. I thought about getting into turbine jets but repeatedly keep coming up against this elitist attitude. Just because I do not own a turbine jet (and now do not even want one because of the snobs involved) does not make you better then anyone else. If people such as yourself represent what I used to think of as the pinnacle of the hobby then I want nothing to do with it. Burn baby burn.

But honestly i do want to point out that was an outstanding recovery on that F-15. quick reflexes saved that one. as for the rest. they looked like dumb thumbs. that F-16 all he had to do was get off the Aileron he would have been fine.

this makes me glad I fly foamies, a crash cost like $10 for new foam and some rebuild time. Those liquid fuel turbines are like $3K-$5K (and that is just for a motor) not including the airframe around it. It does stink to crash, but you have to accept the fact that sometimes you can't control how, when, or where the plane is going to land.

I fly balsa nitro's and brush-less foamies, I have spent upwards of a month building a balsa kit from scratch only to crash it the next day... and I didn't cry about it... why? Because they are TOYS!!...
