i use a pick sometimes as well but to progress you need to learn as many different techniques as possible! play in with your finger means you can slap more easily and do up to 4 finger taps more effectively.

Using a pick is fine. I play with both, Mostly my fingers though. Sometimes a pick just gives you the right sound. Explore your options, you can play exclusively with a pick if you want.

There is no right or wrong in real music.

And although most use their fingers, some of the best bass players use a pick.

Some don't use either ;-)
