i remember being at that race and hearing everyone around talking about the fact Elliot's engine shot through the ground on the other side of the barrier
Yeah, I remember watching this on ESPN. Man, what a lick Elliott Sadler took! Glad he's okay. Well, 3 days away from the start of NASCAR again will be fun!! On Saturday (3 days away!), Nationwide race at Daytona at 1:15 PM/Eastern and Budweiser Shootout at Daytona for Sprint at 8:10 PM/Eastern. Sweet!
why cant espn hav any sense 2 find a decent video of the wreck. for god sakes fox got 10 or 15 different views of the carl edwards and keslowski wreck with not very many people expecting it. and espn couldnt even get one decent video. just this piece of shit vid
@cookieacdc24 Well of course they got Edwards and Keselowski, they were the only ones crashing, so why wouldn't they? I'm sure if someone has spun out somewhere them just before that, all of the cameras would have been focused on that and would have missed the Edwards/Keselowski incident.
@TheMagicalLemon01 It has nothing to do with the track, Jimmie just didn't hit him square enough. Same thing would have happened at Talladega or Daytona.
@TheMagicalLemon01 Why so much hate for J.Johnson?. I mean it. Im from Spain so i have never been able to really follow NASCAR except a few races. Whats the reason for that hate?. Im really curious about it.
@bfahren He wins too much, he has too many championships, he doesn't deserve it, if it weren't for the chase, he wouldn't be champion. He cheats. Believe it or not, he actually spun out many people for a win.
Seriously people Jimmy barely bumped him Kurt went a bit over the top with the whole 'driving right thru us' comment if 33 was a little farther back kurt would have been fine it's just being in the wrong place at the wrong time and let's be happy Sadler didn't get hurt and the cars are doing there jobs
@mkmurray98-Sadler crash was one hardest hit recorded since Gordon wreck last year and in nascar history....sadler wreck have to have more than 200 gs
Pocono is one place you do NOT bump draft. So much can go wrong so fast. I don't think Jimmie did anything wrong on purpose but he should think about that next time
Bump drafting is just the way of racing. Always has been always will be. Jimmie did nothing that everyone else doesn't do. Thank God Elliott is okay. I am a die hard Elliott Sadler fan and a die hard Hendrick Motorsports Fan. When my guys are wrong I will be the first to admit it but Jimmie did nothing wrong. In fact if you listened to the radio communication you heard Jimmie say he was responsible but was only doing what Kurt's team had asked him to do.
shit happens, especially at 180+mph, throwing fines for this is unnecessary, it wasnt intentional even though kurt threw a fit in the interview, of course he's gunna be pissed his car's wrecked. safety wise, I think if sadler can take a pounding like that, kurt had nothing to worry about. Yes I do agree if this happened years ago, there would have been worse concequences, but we're much more geared toward safety nowadays. the only other way to avoid wrecks like this would be to race powerwheels
i think johnson should be fine for this cuz if it was stewart or kyle did it they would of been fined..and johnson even said it was his fault.. elliott could of been killed thank god he wasnt...
another thing worth noting is the bump drafting. Drivers should know better than to do that at non restrictor plate tracks. We really haven't seen that at pocono b/c drivers knew better in the past. It's like monkey see monkey do. When one driver does it and gets away with it the next driver does it and so on until something like this happens. I bet Elliott sadler was getting bump drafted then when he lifted to avoid the accident he got hit. That's another issue not brought up.
one thing i hope they don't do is remove the grass. I know it's a safety issue but that's what makes this track special is the scenery. All they need to do is put safety barriers on the inside and on that str8 away between turns 1 and 2 and they'll be fine.
That replay at the beginning show to me that Johnson barely touched Busch. I honestly don't know how Kurt lost control on a little bump draft like that.
I wish FOX would cover the whole season of NASCAR. They at least have the entire track covered with cameras. TNT and ESPN begged to have NASCAR racing on their networks and they just can't seem to deliver the coverage fans deserve.
@steakell Oh my God @ 0:46. It is an amazing testament to the safety advances they have made with these cars for him to be able to get out under his own power and interview. I can't remember ever seeing a crash that ripped the motor out. That car goes to the garbage can. Be thankful for the HANS device.
@WarMachine6798 i don't wanna bust your bubble..but it was Dale sr. himself that dind't want the hans in nascar..he was calling it 'the noose' to the hans people that presented it to him.. true..
I think for punishment they should put all the espn cameras and camerguys down on the track next weekend. The footage from that would be a little bit of redemption for missing elliots wreck
Holly Shit! That was a hard ass hit. Even though this fence was like infield they should still have it like the fences on the boarder of the track. Like with those retractable wall things. Damn!
@josh8pena You've got a lot of room to talk with your piss-poor use of grammar.
You should use some proper punctuation, and a spell checker
before calling someone else a stupid shit.
it's- fucking, not fucken
it's- awesome, not awsome
it's- you're, not your He spelled, 'live' correctly, exactly as it was meant to be used.
Just because you're jealous that you didn't get any allowance from your mommy so you could go to the race, doesn't mean you have to take it out on him.
After seeing the car hit the wall, I thought to myself that hes dead. Just goes to show that safety is number one to NASCAR. Sadly it took the loss of Dale Sr for these extra safety precautions like the HANS device, but that probably saved Ellitot's life.
@BADASSED88 In 2005 the HANS device existed, so I think that may have made the difference in fatal vs. nonfatal. However, I know he prob. would have broken both ankles, if not legs, cracked ribs, maybe even his sternum...
@gamerfreak4949 How fast was Earnhardt going...I forget! The only reason I ask is that I'm pretty sure this was a harder hit, especially when you look at the way the track lies...Elliott didn't go up any banking like Dale did.
But I agree, this has the same look as Dale's crash, the same as Neil Bonnett's, the same as Jerry Nadeau...
I don't know why everyone is getting so fired up about there not being any footage. Obviously at the time all of the camera operators were filming what they thought was the action, so why would they turn away from it? It just so happened that none of the cameras filming Busch were at an angle to get Sadler as well.
thankful sadler wasnt hurt worse my heart sunk when i seen that engine on that track today during the race live..never seen an engine come completely out a car in the cup series
From Kurt's bumper cam you can barely see Elliott hit in the distance. It appears he got airborne. But you can barely see it in the replay from Kurt Busch's bumper cam.
hmm....jeff green crashed in a very similar way in 03 at pocono. no new car, and he was ok. these new cars have not made the racing safer, its made it boring. take the air conditioned helmets and cooling firesuits out of the cars, get the pussies out of the driver seat, put some men in there and race. put some people back in the stands.
@dirtracer27 are you retarted..cockpit temperatures were reading over 120 degrees at indianapolis last weekend, and you wanna get rid of the air. This is a modern day sport, get used to it. These are well conditioned athletes, not hillbillies in these cars. The cars HAVE made things safer whether you like it or not. Look at this hit, look at michael mcdowells hit in texas of 08. Those hits would be ugly with the old car. Green's wreck was no where as bad as this. Id rather have my heros safe
Wow, for once im glad they have this new crap car. Wish they'd go back to the old car from like 2006, and stuff. But Sadler wouldve gotten hurt alot more than what he did. I thought he'd broke his ribs actually. Engine came outta the car. Glad to see someone who actually races clean is ok.
Poor Elliot sadler...A guy who races clean...Minding his own business hits that wall at over 100mph Flush head on....I hate you Jimmie Johnson you faggot.........Not only do I never want to see you in victory lane again but....I hope Karma comes back to you and you wreck like Jerry Nadeau or Michael Waltrip at bristol in 90"...... Pos mams boy!
@StayingBack71 Unfortunately for you, you're gonna see the 48 in victory lane alot. OMG HE CAUSED A WRECK@!!!!! How many wrecks has Sadler caused on his own?
@StayingBack71 fuck you. if you knew anything about NASCAR, you would know that you can bump draft at Pocono. Jimmie did it ON THE STRAIGHTAWAY, not in the corner. Kurt Busch is the faggot who can't control his car and bitches when he doesn't get his way or gets wrecked, which is a part of racing.
Scary crash for Saddler there, never seen an engine be thrown out of a race car like that. As for the cause, every driver knows that you are supposed to bump draft squarely. You can clearly see that Jimmie Johnson was not aligned with the Kurt Busch machine, and that combined with the aero from Johnson whipping down there and the side-draft off of the #33 cause Kurt to lose control of his car. A four time champion should know how to bump draft, though that explains JJs Restrictor Plate results.
@MaverickXSE yeah but the fact that they had about 8 camera's on the incident and NONE of them saw the crash kinda shows they suck. The commentators suck too.
