  • Almost too much clarinet sound, which is usually abnormal buy overall good job

  • They did a great job if connecting all the phrases and passing off the melodies

  • This song is amazing... if you play it right. In this case I find it generally not together, and WAY too fast (I've played it twice, and in both cases two times as slow - much better)

  • Awesome performance!

sounded like the trumpets forgot when to come in though...

  • Can nobody find the choral version? I'm having trouble finding the choir one.

  • this sounds makes me cry...it is so beautiful, almost like voices

  • sorry but the trumpets don't sound good at all at 1:52. just my opinion though. But yay euphoniums! :)

  • Leider Ich muss sagen: Nein, Bach would not love it - he wanted Ruhe - Tranquility not HORROR. sorry

  • It all returns to nothing, it all comes

    tumbling down. tumbling down.

    tumbling down xD

  • ^^ NGE, really like it..

  • Jajajajajaja!!!! Awsome XD!!! You are the best LOL!!!

  • How come the Komm' Susser Tod's "Come Sweet Death" for evengalion sounds COMPLETELY different? I was looking for that one(not saying this isn't great) yet I'm somewhat dissapointed.

  • Because Hideaki Anno didn't take ispiration from the J.S.Bach version but he take ispiration from Canon in D major (Johann Pachelbel), Hey Jude (The Beatles) and A whiter shade of pale (Procol Hamur)

  • I agree

  • Because this one's COMPLETELY DIFFERENT to the Evangelion one. Read the description. It says "Written by BACH". Geeez lol. :p

  • Complete opposite with me. I love this production so much

  • this is J.S. Bach's version (the original)

  • to make music you should have right intonation. the intonation at this video is terrible! try to learn intonation and then make music!

  • =.="... I thought it was EVAnGElion too

  • This is the original version of Evangelion's Komm susser Todd. Anno recompose it. I dunno but it sounds very different

  • is not evangelion

  • damn i thought it was eva's song!

  • me too, lol

  • i know

    Evangelion rules

  • que curioso comentario tan fuera de lugar

    jajajaajajaja

  • cretin

  • wow dude you are musicly ignorent, bach wrote this when he was dying, he was laying on the bed DYING, and to say his work is boring is so disrespectfull to probably the best composer in the worlds history, boy if i was with you right now i would slap you across the face for you insolence...

  • Next time you're calling someone IGNORANT, spell IGNORANT correctly.

  • @lukachoo no dude, this was written in 1736, Bach died in 1750

his last work is the last fugue Contrapunctus 14 wich is incomplete, i recommend u listening to that piece for chamber music (not keyboards) it is very sad, it is a goodbye with excellent counterpoint technique

  • @lukachoo

Do you have any idea how hard it is to get honest criticism as an artist? No artist goes without thick skin, and all comments are helpful

  • For those who don't know Bach's music. This is a Bach cantata called, yes, you guessed: Komm susser tod. Evangelion soundtrack took this title, but of course, that's just the title... go wikipedia and search for Komm, Susser Tod

  • I thought this was one of Bach's Schemelli Lieder.

  • might be...might be not?

  • My band takes this much slower, with a lot more rubato. I think it creates a better affect, but that's just me.

Barring that, this is a good recording. Maybe a few issues, but basically pretty nice.

Bach Rocks....

  • "Bach Rocks..." so truthful

  • Mhhh, for those who don't know Bach's music. This is a Bach cantata called, yes, you guessed: Komm susser tod. Evangelion soundtrack took this title, but of course, that's just the title...

  • Hey, thanks! I am curious about compositions and their writers, even though I may not be the next musicologist of the time.

  • where is komm susser tod? i cant hear it, is it the nge version?

  • lol, the nge version used the name of this...

originaly, the name is a music piece by Bach

  • I dont hear komm susser tod.

  • it was okay.............

  • The playing isn't terrible, and I don't think it's the intonation that you're thinking is awful in the brass section, there's a trumpet player who is early during a very exposed part of the piece.

  • Terrible intonation. Poor Johann Sebastian....

  • The mistuning in the brass section is really getting on my nerves.

This is a high school band? I've seen better, but it's pretty good.

  • Read the vid description to find out.

  • i think the spanish like komm susser tod alot o.0. No offence intended

  • excelent, grande Bach!!!!!!!

    Komm,susser Tod,komm selge Ruh!

  • Great post. It was hard to find this one, because of the animated series... There is a full orchestra version by Stokowsky, but i couldn't find any recording of it.

    ---

Gran video.

  • WTF??

  • Oh my gosh! Our school choir sang this song last year. In english the title is "Come Soothing Death". This being on youtube makes me happy. By the way, the group who is playing is really good.

  • "soothing" isn't really the translation I'd use, although it does fit almost perfectly. The more common translation is "Come, sweet death"

  • PLOP !!!

  • Q Kojones ???

  • thank you.

  • Do you think it's the late Alfred Reed? I read somewhere on his bio that he arranged it.

  • If memory serves correctly, this arrangement is by Alfred Reed. My high school band played this at Carnegie Hall a few years ago.

  • Thanks!

  • Any info on the arranger?

  • There's an Alfred Reed arrangement that exists for this exact instrumentation; I would bet that that's what they're using.
