  • god if I were on that flight and I heard that 'low terreign' I would be WORRIED!!!

  • Comment removed

  • marina di campo is just a brilliant airport for a passenger ;) flew there about 7 years ago with a dash 8. just brilliant :)

  • WOOT! He came in like a F-104!!

  • Nice approach/landing! I agree, the Saab 340 is a remarkable aircraft. It's too bad Saab cars aren't a quarter as good.

  • They're great commuter pilots because they don't wont for American regional airlines. I wouldn't trust Colgan, Eagle Flight, Mesa, etc... because they don't get paid well enough. If they got paid what they deserved, I would want to fly with them more often.

  • hate the gpws!

  • Is this a contest to see how many different GPWS warnings you can get while still surviving the landing?

  • Very unusual approach but I must say good job.

  • Thats a wild approach procedure. I thought Kai Tak was bad enough

  • I was hoping it would say "Don't Think! Don't Think!" :-P And I sure hope that was a crosswind landing...

  • Show boating for the camera. The off centre landing gives it away. He is not as good as he thinks.

  • :P more fun!!! MTCH in the SF-34 "google map cape haitien" it's a pretty fun place to fly into with the saab!

  • Again while i don't mind spirited conversation i would like to remind everyone to please keep the profanity to a minimum.

PS: as a side note i would like to add that not all Aviation accidents are "Technical problems" as my own airline has discovered not to long ago. Ground Crews are Professionals just as the Pilots are and deserve respect as well. Thanks again :)

  • I have over 1000 hours captaining a Saab 340, the approach and landing, while unusual, was excellent. I've never been to that airport before, but obviously the approach is very non standard and many aircraft likely fly the identical profile to land there.

  • Absolutely fucking wrong very dangerous deadly approach..........One wonder why an airplane crash!!! In my opinion those pilots should be fired immediately before killing honest people and destroying this lovely bird!!!

  • @captainTamerKhayyat fuck you dude this is a pure demonstration of skill, all airline pilots are experts... Accidents only occur when the airplane has technical problems

  • @captainTamerKhayyat sir you just proven that you're an idiot :) go repeat school again and make sure you take some physics

  • @captainTamerKhayyat Haha, even 10 years old playing flight sim would be a better pilot than you.

  • The SAAB:s are excellent aircraft, it's a shame they aren't made anymore.

  • @Tjita1 I absolutely agree. I loved working on them and have nothing bad to say about them. There were rumors at one time that SAAB was thinking of retooling and making a new model but unfortunately that was just wishful thinking. Thanks for the Comment

  • @CIWS1 They better still be in service 10-15 years from now, These are what I want to fly!

  • sink rate, terrain, rate ..... in my company I would get fired if we fly like this!

  • you guys need to go back to flight school, that was way to fast

  • is perfect films SABA !

  • O_O

  • the GWPS sounds like Boeings one?!?

  • where the hell is this?!?!? :O This is amazing!!!And if anyone said these pilots don't know what they do should fuck off!!!

  • @bruchpilot747 The Details section just below the video has a map and i've noted the location of the airport on the map in there.

  • Is this Paro?

  • POLSKA GÓRĄ !! :)

  • Anyone who feels like pounding these pilots for what they do have to keep in mind that not every location in the world has the luxury of pampered instrument procedures. This is not the worst I've seen - try St. Baths and, for the heavies, that a/d in Honduras...all certified for commercial ops. Great vid!

  • 1:40 too close for comfort to that big tree! :o

  • Why fly a poor unstabilized approach?

  • @MegaBuckBuck1 Because they're bucking the trend of pilots who've been castrated into doing nothing other than a 10 mile straight in approach for no apparent reason.

Some people are naturals at flying airplanes, the ones who aren't try to suck all the fun out of it.

  • @archer49d

If they were empty, and just screwing around...more power to them. Otherwise, with pax onboard....I'd call bullshit.

  • @MegaBuckBuck1 Clearly you've never been to the bush.

  • @archer49d

    Clearly...you don't fly.

  • @MegaBuckBuck1 Clearly I do, and I'd bet a hell of a lot better than you. And now it's odvious you've never been to the bush and probably never done anything besides "ILS to ILS to ILS"

  • @dianebailot Because us Polak pilots kick all you other pilot's sorry a****. Just saying.

  • That is an awesome video and I thankyou for sharing it. I fly in them as a passenger quite regulary in regional australia and they are a great aircraft. .I have such facination and the upmost admiration and respect for all aircraft but I just have the flying fear that goes with it :( bugger, lol

  • looked like a fun aproach!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • What an amazing approach! Great video man! Thanks for sharing!!!

  • How it's could be a good landing, so nearly crash if you lost the one engine that is specially critical side, as well might be putted wind shier, who know it. every pilot have to choose obviously good way. Pr:

  • Well i wouldn't want to fly that leg in a storm at night,or fog :-) , excellent piloting tho.

  • lol, in flight school we used to call the the "bush pilot approach" nice job

  • @flyboy242 Never met a bush pilot did ya?

  • Wow.....Great pilots one day i hope that i can do that! I would fly with those guyz any day!

  • wow

  • wow, that is some pretty amazing flying right there. anybody have an idea where you could find the approach plates for this airport? im a wee bit curious as to how that approach was planned due to terrain and such..

  • Thank you for makeing this video, I'm really appreciateing it. You guys really done an absolutely amazeing work. xD

    Seriousely, I'm not lieing.

  • Where are they landing?

  • Well it seems to me that this landing was intense! Great job cause it was really fast! I have a question though: what are the couple of alarms we can see and hear in this video?

  • @Julman75 I didn't listen to all of them, but the Altitude alerter chime (1000 feet above- steady yellow then flashing yellow when you go below) and the sink rate call out (+1000 feet per minute) are two I heard.

  • @snagpilot thanks for answering man. Wow, i'm still amazed how awesome that landind was lol

  • Interesting... great footage

    timjack Australia

  • nice landing.

  • This was like one of my high speed landings on FS :P but still AWESOME !

  • More than 130 knots

  • wow nice approach.. that really shows how fast an airplane flies..

this is the normal approach procedure? btw what airport is this? i'd like to try it on FSX

  • did yall know that this is a prop plane

  • @0696jesse information about the type of aircraft is provided in the details tab. SAAB 340B is a Turbo Prop aircraft.

  • awesome!

  • Hey were is this airport located?

  • @rhettski999 check the info tab for the video, the airport is shown on the map in the Details.

  • так и обосраться не долго((((((((((((((((

  • Haha nice landing but maybe little too fast? :P

  • sabb 340s rock they are easy to work around . not as glam as an emb but better in rough weather

  • WOW... That's really a good video!

  • Cool video.

What an approach!! Really no better place for the runway?

    :-P

  • Not the easiest place to do a visual approach! ;)

The last minute low altitude banking looked a little too hairy for me! Doing this kind of stuff is all very well until somebody has an accident!

  • sweeet!!!!!

  • This is one of my favorite flying videos. One question. Was this a no flap landing as well. Does the GPWS disable when the flaps are down, or am I mistaken. Once again awesome video.

  • @asteinmetz79 The "too low flaps" is disabled when landing flaps are down (so is too low gear if gears are down) the other GPWS aural alerts are not disabled though, for obvious reasons; you still want to be alerted about terrain and excessive sink rate. You can inhibit the flap alert and also G/S. but not sinkrate/terrain etc.

  • this is a mental approach

    nice shit

  • I don't think they should be making all those turns. Just fly straight in and I think it would be safer. And try to land softer without all those warning things going off. I think if they did those things they'd be better pilots.

  • @TheCannonofMohammed Are you a pilot? Didn't think so, maybe you should leave the job to them, i mean have you had any training what so ever? Maybe there is a reason other than "lets just do it this way!" to their actions...

  • @TheCannonofMohammed The warnings are for their SAFETY!! Oh, and if you didn't notice, there are MOUNTAINS surrounding the airport. Umm, Don't think a straight in would work now huh?

  • @RCKTBOY7 Well a straight in would work, but this was just way more fun.

  • @archer49d Oh yeah!!! I would always be up for this!!

  • proper stick and rudder flying!

  • looked like a survival landing .. tested your gpws by occassion !

  • wow, the dont have a very long approach and there looks like there is no room for error. If both engines fail on base, your dead. That must have been fun for the pilot. Cruising at high speeds at low level. WOW

  • Best. Landing. Ever. Ride on, cowboy!

  • Not what the company would like to see, but is was impressive. The mighty saabomatic

  • @Srirachaa Some companies are cooler than others.

  • @archer49d Cooler meaning more lax, very true.

  • @Srirachaa I hope you don't mean that in a bad way. I for one appreciate having freedom to do what I want at work, unlike some RJ drivers who the company controls right down to when and where they can take a piss.

  • @archer49d LOL, I actually fly an RJ-9. I mean it however you want to take it. With all do respect, I love having fun and getting crazy just as much as the next guy(my vids will attest to that) when your flying boxes and no pax, hell yea I'll test the limits, who the hell doesn't. If were talking solely on a passenger standpoint however, you really shouldn't at all, and those so called puss procedures increases safety believe it or not. If you want to fly boxes your whole life, fly like this.

  • @Srirachaa I fly boxes and I have no intention of flying passengers, except Eskimos, who like being passenger in flying like this.

  • @archer49d Right on, I can respect that. At this point, I just want to get paid, so that is what I'm chasing. Only boxes I would ever consider would be for Fedex or UPS, and I doubt that'll ever happen. I agree on the fun aspect, unfortunately it doesn't help fund my toy cravings. If you don't fly floatplanes, you should start, you can do all kinds of wild shit and no one can really say a damn thing.

  • @Srirachaa There's about 1 or 2 floatplanes here and I've never been into that, just because i have no personal "use" for it. Anyway, if the only boxes you'd ever consider are FedEx or UPS then you're cutting yourself short of a lot of cargo airlines that are very easy going and very fun to work for. FedEx and UPS have mind numbing boredom on par with most passenger carriers at this point.

  • @archer49d I'm sure there are. I'm just a money whore now though, and your right it is boring and I really only enjoy about 15-20 minutes of every 3 hour flight.(sometimes not even) But, I get my kicks elsewhere. Sit me in the right seat of any major, let me read my paper, collect my coin, have 18 days off/month, and you won't hear a peep from me.(lol) I've accepted the boredom, it could be worse, like a real 9-5 job 5 times a week in some office though.

  • The GPWS alarms are sickening, and thats a nasty approach, with very skilled pilots. The landing was a bit rough, but we don't know whether or not they were hit by gusting winds--the sink rate warning--and if those winds pushed the aircraft onto the runway at the last second.

  • Wow...that is a wild landing with a few warnings from the radar

  • greased it right in there good job!

  • That's one hell of an approach, not sure I would have called it a good landing with a sink rate warning though.

  • that was a terrible landing :(

If I was on that plane I would have called the pilots mother to tell her he is a tard

  • Great until......... the hard landing.

  • great pilot

  • wow meen what a freakyy aproach and landingg, great vid.

  • This made my day.

  • All I gotta say is "Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing, any landing where you can use the plane again is a GREAT landing"

Looks like this was a great landing!

  • @rkasior LOL sounds like VF-101's Motto. RAG pilots are pretty rough on their equipment. Thanks for the comment.

  • Comment removed

  • @CIWS1 101 out of Miramar?

  • @fuscotj VF-101 Grim Reapers were stationed at NAS Oceana during my time there. They were Decommed last i heard.

  • @rkasior Definetely! It also looks like a very, very FUN landing :)

  • Comment removed

  • @rkasior

    That's true, body!

  • wow the aviaiton posts really get people working their egos on youtube, some real shit gets spouted by some and some real knowledge by others.....I suppose that is an anonymous democracy for you....dangerous stuff :)))

btw for the really ignorant out there and I am sure I speak for others that can spell,

    A)..... there

    B)......they're

    C)......their

Three words with three different meanings, please try and get it right...it is getting boring seeing this level of ignorance al over youtube.

  • @wonderdog707

"it is getting boring seeing this level of ignorance al over youtube"

How do you feel about pedants on Youtube?

  • Amazing!!!! O_O

  • If I was a passenger on this flight, I think I would have ben terrified.

  • @ephemeralprotagonist I got into flying to have fun, not care about what others think... which is why flying boxes is way more fun than flying people.

  • LOL all the flight sim experts think there real pilots....

  • Saab's are amazing aircraft, the 340B was my favorite. It's just a great shame they don't make them anymore.

  • @planemadmatt I had heard that their was a slight possibility that SAAB was thinking of pulling out the Blueprints and creating a C model 340 due to the increased interest in Turbo Prop aircraft recently. However this was told to me in 2007 and I've not heard anything since. It's prolly just dead rumor but it's fun to think about for us SAAB fans. (PS to those who will say it, I am NOT referring to the SAAB 2000, Thanks)

  • @CIWS1 If they do, I hope they change the parking brake cable design, it's a bitch to change. Also get rid of the GE CT7's

  • @CIWS1 If they do, I hope they change the parking brake cable design, it's a bitch to change. Also get rid of the GE CT7's

  • ROFL @SOSEG load of crap lol

if my memory is right the A380 DID NOT auto lonad in syd when they 1st landed here

and there should be another QNATAS(not sure) video where the pilot lthe over the control after 1000FT or above (cant remember)

Syd is not CATIII (i might be wrong on this but if I im plz let me know on pm)

  • We should all be grateful that we have the 13 year old armchair experts on here to critique and criticize our flying ability. After all, there are only hundreds of thousands of dollars invested in our training which pales in comparison to Microsoft's multi-million dollar profits on Flight Simulator...

  • @United737522 LOL ur still going

do urself a favour and dont play internet hero on youtube coz u really dont know when you actually are talking to someone else who is a real pilot

    you keyboard ninja... bwaahaha

  • No, I'm not still going. If you would look at the time stamps on the comments, this was posted before we had our exchange. (3 days ago...)

For a guy with a frozen ATPL, you sure show a lack of common sense. You contradicted yourself. I pulled these straight from 2 of your posts:

    "a380 only auto lands..."

and then later you said, "all ive been told is that its preffered to be auto landed when possible. doesnt mean it has to be"

    Nice back-peddling there...

  • @United737522 no not back pedalling, stop trying to be such a pedantic youtube hero

im sure the rest of the flight sim kids reading this are just batting off over the thought that you're a real pilot

the a380 "only" auto lands wasn't how i was meant to word it

in normal ops - yes, doesnt mean you cant manually land it

like i said, from what I was told when it was in production about 2 years ago was that it was designed to be auto landed (doesnt matter what category of ILS).

  • @United737522 You are so right about the YouTube critics. I'm not a pilot, I'm a student (and not even for flying) and I would never even think of criticising the ability of a real pilot...I mean think of all the horrible physical sensations you would experience when actually flying this approach, feeling everything, every increase and decrease in throttle etc. It must be a totally different ballgame.

I get so irritated when people criticise others for something they have never done themselves.

  • @United737522 u just sad everything....well done colleague :)

  • Too much FS Pilots around here LOL.

Just shut up jesus christ...you dont know shit.

  • Last month an ATR42-500 succesfully tested the landing in Elba

  • AIM - PILOT / CONTROLLER GLOSSARY:

    GLIDEPATH -- (See Glideslope)

GLIDEPATH [ICAO] -- A descent profile determined for vertical guidance during a final approach.

GLIDESLOPE -- Provides vertical guidance for aircraft during approach and landing. The glide slope / glide path is based on the following:

  • There was nothing amazing about this approach at all, I have over 4000 hours in the Saab 340.

  • @TransAmmx It was probably still a s*it ton of fun to fly. I've done the same thing in 1900s.

  • I think this app could be executed in a more stable manner, Im pretty sure passengers were scared

  • ouch that landing was hard also they are low with respect to the glideslope, they are good but not excelent.

  • what glideslope? Glideslope is a term of reference as part of an ILS. Go back to playing flight sims

  • Glideslope is not just a term for ILS, what a PAR, or any runway that has vasi or papi to show you if your on the glideslope even if you are VFR. So yea. your wrong.

  • I suspect you might be getting confused between gideslope and GLIDEPATH,

Glideslope is specific to and ILS or MLS, how do i know this?... because it's my job to know this, so maybe check your facts next time.

  • HAHAHA! I am going to use that line from now on.

  • wow. I want these pilots on my next flight, they are good.

  • great video , and excellent cockpit crew .

  • I love the Saab.

  • Yeah the Saab is a nice little plane :D

  • , that is amazing , people dnt give alot of respect for what the small pilots do, but these are to very ballsy pilots

  • Small-aicraft pilots have it way tougher IMO. They have a small plane that will get thrown about in the wind easily, and most of the time their airports are in rural areas with horrible approach paths. The only crazy commercial approach path is Kai Tak, and that's closed.

  • true

commercial pilots all fly in IFR all the time as it is and to keep PAX happy its all auto-piloted

take off, autopilot, monitor, and probably auto land... pilots job these days is to just monitor the computer screens

i know guys who fly 747s 737s and a320s and say they miss flying general aviation small a/c coz its hands on fun stuff

  • Its not that easy bud. It takes years of training and dedication to fly an airplane. I dont know of any plane that can just land itself, but if you know of one let me know. Pilots dont get the respect they deserve.

  • theres a tonne of a/c that can auto land themselves

a380 only auto lands... in facat its deemed an irregular op if its landed manually.. ie something wrong

  • soseg, you are an idiot. Stick to the microsoft flight sim and leave the flying to the professionals. And no, A380s do not only land with the autopilot. Check your facts.

  • no the a380 is meant to be auto landed. from what ive been told by guys who work at an airline who fly them - its an irregular op to land it manually

watch u who call an idiot, u arm chair pilot. ive never even toughed flight sim

  • Believe what you want. The A380 is not meant for autoland every time. Do you know what a Cat III approach is? Did you know not every runway at every airport the A380 services is Cat III equipped? Did you know that there are many scenarios where a Cat III landing would be prohibited despite the runway and airplane being Cat III authorized?

  • cotinued---

You're obviously not a real pilot and you say you've never toughed the rigors of flight sim, then you most certainly have no business making comments on here. I'm not here to flash my credentials to you, but I will say I don't need to be an armchair pilot, because I've got the real thing.

  • yes i know what a cat 3 landing is. just because every runway the a380 lands on isnt equipped with cat3 doesnt mean it cant land there. all ive been told is that its preffered to be auto landed when possible. doesnt mean it has to be

buddy... ur 21, same age as me... i dont know what qualifications you have but im holding a frozen ATPL at the moment so dont go calling me a fake

  • ROFL load of crap lol

if my memory is right the A380 DID NOT auto lonad in syd when they 1st landed here

and there should be another QNATAS(not sure) video where the pilot lthe over the control after 1000FT or above (cant remember)

Syd is not CATIII (i might be wrong on this but if I im plz let me know on pm)

  • @JerryLaw yeah i know Syd isnt cat3, doesnt mean u cant do a cat 2 or 3 approach in auto mode and just hand fly it in

its just airbus recommendation to have it autoland whenever possible

  • ok thats clear things up a lot

mayb u need to tell every one n make its caps lol

  • @JerryLaw na cbf

to many youtube hero's on here acting like they're gods gift to aviation, ie United 737522

  • For the most part you are correct, but to say that pilot's job is to only monitor the computer screens is not very accurate. Trust me in saying there is far more involved

  • @soseg Yeah, maybe at your chicken s*it airline, but not at the better places. I can think of several operations that fly passengers with no A/P in hard IFR (and no I'm not including Great Lakes because they pay poverty wage).

  • You're right about Kai Tak.

I put runway 02 approach at Toncontin in Tegucigalpa, Honduras up there as well.

  • Yeah, I forgot that place. There's an amazing video of an American 757 landing there somewhere on YouTube.

  • WOW, That was nice, it;s the type of stuff that you will only try in FSX :)

  • Unfortunately Flight sim hasn't really done good at modeling the terrain on this island, i've looked. so it's not as big a thing but good luck to you just the same :)

  • excellent...

  • I love this approach it looks exciting and adventerous...wats the name of the airport?

  • Elba Island. Click on the data tab near the top on this page and i have actually pinned the location on a map for everyone. Enjoy.

  • @EilertPilarmDM I have... don't see hot this is amateur hour, they're having fun, they'd be having just as much fun anywhere else.

  • DAMN! that was insane!

  • Polished Polish Pilots.
