Wrong you are thinking of Ancient Athens which was a democracy, most of what we know of the Spartans come from the Athenians because they went to war with them. There are no ruins of ancient Sparta as there are for Athens because the Spartans never really build anything. They relied on slaves who they brutalised into submission.

Athens was the light, Sparta was the enemy.

Actually alot of the spartan soldiers died in process of being trained. Also the mothers probably wouldnt have been as emotional as the one seen here just due to their societies beliefs.

@Eliot8989 I agree, it's just like Spetsnaz, they train super hard, the Rangers, etc. My dad raised me kind of like this movie, but it was never to the point of death, at certain points I thought it was cruel or something, but now that I'm a teenager I realized I needed to learn that in this huge city I live in. I think disciplining your kids from a young age is necessary for their future to be bright
