i've had kick backs meny times before... i was standing right behind it too... never got hit... best thing to do is have a good grip but stand back a good 5/6 inches away from what your cutting to avoid any injuries... the saw actually lifted itself up from the wood i was cutting and my reaction time helped me stop the saw from even touching me...
