  • N8 when when when ????

  • Hey Everyone,

I'm Joe and work for the Nokia Communications team (and helped put the Twitter Cafe together). We know we didn't get to a lot of the questions yesterday. As you could imagine, we had hundreds of questions - more than we could possibly answer in 60 minutes. Over the next few days, Niklas will be answering the questions we couldn't get to yesterday.

Any questions for Niklas, be sure to post them on Nokia Conversations

    Thanks!

    Joe

  • What cant buy one ? i need one of these ^^

  • I love how he ignored a lot of extremely good questions. And kept retweeting crap from people who were sucking up to him

  • Thanks for your time. I do hope you do more of these sorts of Conversations with maybe a little more freedom to answer questions without having to check with "the team" first! ;)

  • Very nice of him that he avoided most of the questions, especially all the ones about Maemo5 and the N900. I'm sure Nokia is very proud.

  • @TuneTamasha 900+ people followed him since this was announced. I'm sure time was an issue, along with the obvious PR considerations.

I believe Nokia has already said Maemo 5 is EOL, between the lines (If not officially), and he pretty much confirms it by avoiding all those questions and not being able to say as much.

I am happy with the results, communication like this is better than silence!

  • @WTHInac:See,that's the problem with Nokia when it comes to Maemo 5 - silence. He is head of sales and marketing, thus he should be capable of answering (at least generally and briefly) any type of question related to Nokia and their products.Ignoring them means either Nokia or Niklas don't care or he doesn't know what are people talking about.Time is hardly an issue on space limited twitter. If this behaviour was a 1 time thing,I wouldn't rant. Many ppl from the marketing dept. should be fired.

  • @TuneTamasha - Maemo 5 information has been announced by Nokia a lot of times, the project has merged with Intels project to become Meego. QT development tools are (have been?) being released to allow developers to make Symbian, Meego, Maemo compatible applications. But Maemo 5 is the last Maemo version.

  • @jfanning: And do you think I don't know that? I'm following Maemo/N900/MeeGo actively since August last year. This is not the point I'm highlighting. The fact is (and I dare you to go ask anyone at maemo.org) that Nokia's marketing and sales department is one of the worst out there when it comes to taking care of customers who bough the N900. Actually it's worse than worse - it's failure.

  • @TuneTamasha Why complain that Nokia isn't saying anything about Maemo 5 when they have said things about Maemo 5. If you already knew the answer why complain that they haven't said anything, they have. Maemo is dead, Meego is the future, N900 isn't getting Meego, but will get Meego applications. They might not be giving you the answers you want, but they have publicly stated them.

  • @jfanning: Funny that the whole N900 internet community has the same opinion about this as me, even some sites. Nokia acted immaturely since launch, not in the last few months. There is a marketing problem in Nokia, but nobody has the balls to solve it it seems. Is firing and hiring people really that hard?

  • @TuneTamasha I haven't disagreed with their marketing. I disagreed with your statement that they haven't made a comment about Maemo 5, they have, it is now dead.
