  • it was like watching nuno make love to his guitar

  • ILoveYou NUNO...

  • although he's the best (in many people's books), I'm pretty down right depressed he went on tour with rihanna. To me, it seems he demoted himself.

  • probably the best electric player today..

  • 2:05 is awesome

  • I can't believe John Mayer and Eric Clapton get more recognition than Nuno.. He can play circles around those guys, in both technique and feeling! What an injustice.. I wish the guitar magazines would at least get on the ball and start doing more interviews and lessons with him...

  • @wfenio Well said!! Clapton is an average player. No idea why people think he is so special? Boring, dull, shit! Clapton is not even as good as me!! ..and Im shit!!

  • @coltsuperocean10 I know.. You should see how furious the Clapton people get when i comment on his video that he is overrated. I need some back up over there... check out the blog discussion on the YouTube video called "Cream - Eric Clapton at his Best!!" It drives me nuts..they consider Clapton a 'guitar god' while players like NB get ignored.

  • @wfenio I will never understand that either. Nuno rules but since he plays rock he gets no attention

  • @nataliefoxx exactly! Actually Nuno is such a well-rounded player.... honestly I think that a major reason he has been ignored is because he has been tanted by the reputation of Cherone... And I have to admit, I don't care for Cherone's vocals much myself...seems like a good guy though. But I think Nuno's guitar work has been largely ignored because Extreme was dismissed as another lame hair band hold-over from the 80's.. but in actuality, Nuno is one of the best electric

    guitarists ever.

  • @wfenio

    Well said! :D

  • @wfenio

I totally agree with you! .. Another great comment :D

  • So freakin badazz. Greatest guitar player ever.

  • @zoddman1 amen brotha!!

    you speak truth..

  • This is great. You know, when I want style + shred I always look at two guitarists: Nuno Betancourt and Vernon Reid. I love both of them.

  • Not sure if Hendrex could have pulled this off...freeking amazing

  • 4:08 = Pokemon battle Start.

    Epic solo, fucking mindtravel!

  • Please the name of the song in 5:40????? Nuno has the best riffs ever.

  • @azasel That's the flight of the wounded bumblebee "crash landing"

  • @azasel I'm pretty sure it's called "The Bumble Bee has Landed" ... and I think it was on one of the old "Guitars that Rule The World" CD compilations.

  • MAJIC FINGERS!

  • This 7 minutes and 50 seconds destroys completely the layman myth that distorted guitars occur only in metal and rock music which they cannot understand in a musical context.

When I first heard Pronograffitti and was thinking "Damn! You can do that with a guitar?" I thought it was either chords or fast notes! Make my regular Nuno please! :D

  • like i said in the "more than words video...."

    nuno = godlike guitarist

  • I am not an expert on guitar heroes, haven't heard them all...there are so many who are impressive. Why I commented on this one was that I felt (sorry if you didn't, to each his own) not just harmonic richness but emotional richness in his playing...though it was his chance to show off, I still felt a lot of soul and beauty. I love the chord progression at 5:14 (borrowed from classical piece?) and the sound he put out, not the technique but the feel. To each his own! And Jennifer B. is awesome!

  • @BWild82

It is flight of the wounded bumble bee

  • Incredible. I've heard so many guitarists with techinique (anyone can get it, with enough practice) but this guy goes so far beyond. I was so surprised when I stumbled upon this video. SO COOL that he was able to let go of the guitar hero bit while jamming with the horn players..shows he is about give and take and MUSIC, which many guitar 'gods' are not. The amazing technical display that follows is mind boggling. I am a new fan. Love the rich sounds from 5:14. Lovely. Unheard from other "gods"

  • i love him! he's so sexy

  • Lol, love the brass-guitar interlude

  • is the percussion guy whereing a Guns N' Roses t-shirst?

  • reminds me of Final Fantasy at the beginning :P

  • LOL, final fantasy VII?? right on man!! me too!

  • what song is it from 7:05 or so to 7:30? i know that melody from somewhere

  • The tapping part in the beginning makes me wanna throw my guitar out, cut my hands, and go hang myself... Nuno is the man...

  • keep practicing man you can do it :P

  • Comment removed

  • Buckethead is NOT BETTER

  • your damn straight

  • well whaddaya know.. he does percussion too..

  • buckethead is technically good, but what memorable songs has he ever written. Bettencourt on the other hand, makes good music as opposed to trying to shred as fast as humanly possible

  • Nicely put good sir (kps142).

  • A little while ago I would have shared this view. But I figured there must be more to this guy so I bought "Giant Robot" last week and it really is very good. Very few solos and just catchey well-constructed songs. Really nice work with talk boxes, phasers and a whole load of tricks, but little shred.

I highly recommend this record to anyone who thinks buckethead is nothing but licks.

  • Buckethead needs a new bucket..and then a new head!! Nuno is the most underestimated riper out there!!

  • he is so underrated!

  • Nuno rips .

  • Godlike

  • Nuno is like a mix of Steve Vai, Van Halen, and Jimi Hendrix all in one body! Fucking Awesome!

  • PORTUGALLL :P

  • nuno is a genius... his solo has makes sense not like other rockers if you know what im saying..

  • His style reminds me so much of Steve Vai. I guess it's because they both are so melodic. Nuno is truly a Master.

  • Nuno plays drums too

  • He plays all instruments XD

  • nuno rocks very much !!! i love hes style

  • thats totally crazy!

  • he is absolutely awesome!! :-) what a passion

  • fuckin A cool riff!!!!!!!

  • assolutamente mostruoso..

  • fucking awesome

  • holy fuckin shit this guitarist is amazing invented some of the coolest riffs ever...

    he is amazingly creative

  • No problem... I guess it looks a little harsh with the 'not' in capital letters.

I probably got the spelling of Paul's name wrong anyway...

  • That's NOT Mike Mangini.... it's Paul Geary, the original drummer....

  • Sorry, my brother made that comment. He's just getting into Extreme.

  • LOL brilliant, world's fastest tamborine player :-)

  • LOL look at that guy with the tamborine

  • That's Mike Mangini.

  • whats this solo called? and where can i find tabs of it?

  • Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee

  • this is a fuckin bad mother fucker

couldve competed with randy rhoads back in the good ol 80s

  • hes too great for this world

he can shred...he can get a funky simple tone

ha can get a neoclasical sound with too much feeling....

    hes just the man!

  • what escales is nuno using nuno i know he is running within some pentatonics some minor escales, but i dont know like the sequences! can anybody help me with that, i am talking aobut the first part (tapping) of this solo! thank you i will appreciated!

  • i was there man this was long time ago, i can still remember that intro, it was awesome, i wonder where nuno learned to play, or how he did cause at the age of 22 he already was a guitar master

  • he's 100% self taught.

  • wrong his family are musicians and his mom made him drop out of school when he was 16 he played 8 hours a day and worked at a coors beer factory at night lol he was self taught to a certain extent

  • damn, a mom that makes you drop out of school...you have any source(s) to back this statement up?

  • That´s why he is my master.

    Nuno Bettencourt is a God

  • dam i love the intro

  • holy cow!!!!

    portuguese by th way!! xDD

    apenas um deus guitarrista

  • Can anyone name the riff he starts playin at 2:08???

  • Nuno is God

  • i dont like this music that much nuno is one of the best guitar players

  • you are all wrong nuno rocks!

  • I say nuno rocks! got the n2 and n4 series signature guitars ! hissssssss sooooooooo cooooooool

  • i've a N2 and a N4 padouk!

  • He's better than Eddie in my opinion. He's much more versatile.

  • are u kidding me? eddie was the original inventor of the guitar hero playing that steve vai and nuno uses nowadays. but nuno is also a great guitar player.

  • Acctually, Brian May, Michael Schenker, and Alex Lifeson did it before Eddie so I guess they are better than Eddie too, according to your logic. Eddie is good but he's a one trick pony.

  • Calling Eddie a one trick pony is really trivializing his playing. Honestly, people think eruption is all that eddie really did? Come on, the guys sense of timing and the way he accents his playing is phenomenal. his sound is truly original. As for Nuno, well, Nuno Bettencourt is beyond phenomenal. His arrangement is about as complex as it gets. Just listen to all the beautiful squeeling he does in He-Man woman hater for example. Nuno is a guitar MOGUL and in my opinion, he's untouchable.

  • I guess there's no untouchable guitarist. there are so many and they are all great.

BUT nuno is defenitly up in the olympus of the gods of guitar playing

  • I eat Boogers.

  • you are a moron.

  • I have this concert on VHS, truly amazing...The real action starts at 2:08

  • that was kick ass! but that was long!

  • WTF is the orchestra wearing???

  • Es un duro me encanta! NUNO!

  • nuno...kicks...ass!!! his technique is amazing; he's one of the very few guitarists i really like. i love how he gets all hunched over his guitar when he plays; you can tell hes really into it. also, in case anyone's wondering, that beginning solo (finger tapping) was a solo piece that nuno wrote for Guitar World magazine. they were hosting a concert called "Guitars Who Ruled the World". the song is called "too much of a good thing". does anyone know if there's a tab for it anywhere?

  • I have the guitars that rule the world cd and to much of a good thing is`nt on it the Nuno track is Bumble bee (crash landing) I also have the track too much of a good thing and was wondering were it came from could you fill me in .

  • tal gajo pa tocar guitarra foda-se !!!!!!!

  • without Nuno, Extreme would have been nothing.

  • without Gary Sharone extreme would havs been something!!!!

  • that's cold! hehehehe

  • But true

  • kinda true in a way

  • Great solo, Great artist!

  • good good goood ! fantástico!

  • I love this whole thing. Nunoooo. Let's all watch Guitar Wars, such a sick DVD.

  • Haha, Nano.

    <3 Nuno.

  • amazing guitarrist,he shows how to feel a guitar. His tapping technique is one of the best across history...NANO RULES MAN!!!!

  • That's my favourite funky tune ever. I had it on audio cassette for a couple of years, this is the first time I've seen a clip of it, CHEERS!

  • Sorry i got that wrong lol

  • Yeah, I thought that originally as well, I love that song.

  • Yeah Rock on Nuno

  • Can anyone name the song he starts playin at 5:50?? I'm sure I've heard that song before. I would highly appriciate if anyone can name it.

  • Can anyone name the song he starts playin at 6:45?? I'm sure I've heard that song before. I would highly appriciate if anyone can name it.

  • Amazing, its official Nuno has became one of my favorites... rhythm, technique and emotion.

  • "Flight Of The Wounded Bumblebee" at 4:07... Awesome!

  • Can anyone name the song he starts playin at 5:50?? I'm sure I've heard that song before. I would highly appriciate if anyone can name it.

  • The song is called "Bumblebee Crash Landing". It appeared on a compilation called "Guitars that Rule the World" that was released in the early 90's. Actually it was suppose to be on right after Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee, but the producer thought it would have been too long of a track at that point.

  • Man, that is such a shame. Cheers for the info.

  • The song is on extremes debut album its at the end of a song called rock a bye bye the album was just called Extreme

  • I´ve been playing guitar for 36 years and I´m pretty good. But Nuno whips my ass. He´s awsome :-)

  • What a great musician! I actually met Nuno and the bass player from Extreme in July of '93. They had just flown in to the Charlotte, NC airport and were going to hang out with Van Halen. I approached Nuno and asked if I knew him and his response was "Are we related?" He and the bass player were very nice and accomodating, even agreeing to have their picture taken with me and my brother. These guys were great and actually showed intelligence, something I can't say about much of today's musicians.

  • My band opened for them on this tour in Grand Rapids, MI in June '93. Nuno and Gary leaped into each other at the end of Decadence Dance and the headstock on this cherry N4 broke, so Nuno slammed it to the ground and the neck broke off and flew to my feet by his rig at the side of the stage..are you kidding me?? I still have it today with all his finger gunk on the fretboard!! Awesome! Nuno Rules!

  • why is he so underrated? he's truly one of the most innovative nd original guitar players ever.

  • This brought me back. Highly underrated by most. Gary Cherone was an amazing frontman. You have to be a bit theatrical to appreciate him. What a powerhouse. All the guys were good. They made that music together. Nuno was a guitar God. Pornograffiti show San Francisco at The Stone on Broadway...the greatest show ever. Alice In Chains opened! Those were the days. These guys are really nice people too. These videos grabbed my heart but they don't do Extreme the justice they deserve.

  • Man you just reminded me about Alice In Chains. I saw that show in Boston (in 1990) and as I recall Alice In Chains was booed off.

  • oh man! my mind went blank as i watched this video, its not at all anything i expected. He is truly a great musician and composer,i dont say this to pick any fight but his band(Extreme)were not on the same level he was(though they were fairly talented). He should be doing something to the stature of himself.this video is going to my favorites and I´m going to start right now looking for that other band of his.

  • I was at this show. Probably the best show I have ever seen. His newest project if you don't know is Satellite Party w/ Perry Farrell from Jane's Addiction. I heard a couple of the songs on myspace. Album is supposed to be out in May 07. I have all of his other projects, Dramagods, Mouring Widows, also great stuff.

  • .By the way I checked out the other bands & I always came to the same conclusion: that I wished Nuno could get together a good band like Zakk Wylde wit Pride and Glory and his other albums. Not that they are similar in any way but I always feel the vibe like it´s always just Nuno wit some "professional" musicians

who couldn´t care less about the music they´re playing, well that´s my opinion.Anyway Nuno es lo mejor de lo mejor!

  • He's one of the best guitarists I've ever seen. I've been playing for 20 years and will probably never reach his magnitude. Sheez. That was out of this world.

  • my face was caving in while watching. I think Nuno can actually impregnate any girl just listening to his hellish riffs!!!

  • excellent playing. nuno is a very gifted musician.

  • sick.. the he-man woman hater thing... godlike!!

  • he is psycho!!

  • lol not bad Maxx i havent watched anything nuno for many years.:)~

  • do u know where i can find the Tab for last part he played? that 's so sweet melody..

  • alright thats good and all but of all the video's Ive seen of him so far he has played that same exact thing. Please tell me there is more to this guy than that one tapping solo he does.

  • wow, heman women hater intro. sweet. nuno is the most underrated guitarist. too bad he served me at McDonalds last week.

  • I think Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears are genius compared to Nuno Dumbencourt and Steve Lukather hasn't played anything good in 20 years so that ends that point. Listen to Zappa, XTC, Danny Gatton, Lenny Breau, Django, Chick, Waits, Bad Brains, ...that should keep you busy for a while.

Nuno talent is a waste because his songs/lyrics are so dumb. Listen to Extreme and that should be enough of an example.ZAPPA RULES!!!

  • ok sireel its the worst music you ever heard? what prompted you to watch it then? Its not like the video just popped up out of nowhere and forced you to watch it

  • Freaking amazing, the best!

  • ...now this is a great jam in a concert-context- hopefully i wish that folks will embrace that again. one can apreciate hot water music or fugazi and still go off on this stuff. i'd love to see sireel lose on stage big time - bedroomguitarwanker...

  • holy crp this guy is amazing!!!

  • wow i just learned about nuno and all i can say he has become something of an insperation to me with the little i know, he has become one of my favorite guitar players, what he does is just simply amazing the sound that comes from him is just mind blowing and i find it hard that anyone can call this idiotic because its ok if you dont like it but its one thing to call someone sucky hes an amazing guitar player wether or not you like his sound his skill is that of a genuis

  • Nuno Duarte Gil Mendes Bettencourt ! ! !

    He´s the man, damn !

  • yu can hear the strong evh influences

  • OOUUCHHH!!!! sireel listen some of Nunos songs even the simpliest More than words, post a video of yourself doing the last part of it USE SOME TABS IF YOU WISH, we'll see then, sometimes we need to use our ears just to find out hes really that good, and sometimes, we like some guitar players that we can also do the things they do or the same replica of their piece and MAKE THEM YOUR BEST GUITAR EVER and can play most of their songs, well try this guy. I respect Mr. Bettencourt.

  • ok Sireel, which musicians do you like then? When I say musicans, I mean someone who actually plays an instrument. So i don't want to hear any names like Jessica Simpson or young ms Spears....if you knew anything about music and musicians you would also know that Nuno is a fantastic musician, producer and writer and happens to be much admired by the likes of Steve Lukather. Which really is saying something. So come on then show us a video that you find impressive then....

  • awesome :)

  • Idiotic your toot this is genius :)

  • IDIOTIC, i meant

  • this is the worst music i have ever heard. i dont care if he's a good guitarist, it's idioti and lame

  • Look little boy just listen to the stuff and stop pi**ing on things you don't like. If you don't like it go to another section and watch something else.

  • What have you been listening to dear sir(eel)? Have you ever heard any music in your life. Your writing about Nuno or any musician for that matter is idiotic and lame if you don't present any solid reasons to justify what you mean. If you don't mean anything you are just being mean sir (eel).

  • He played the exact same solo live in Brazil in 83 haha

  • Nuno is the man!

  • hUAH. thanx megaton. thanx for sharing. ;-)

  • cool video...tnx for sharing it

  • Nuno Bettencourt was a really perfectsionist guitarist!!! He's the guitarist ever!!!
