  • The inner earth propably exists.

But is very hard to reach...

  • this movie suck! the 2008 one is much better.....

  • I dunno ---- I just saw the one with Brandon Fraser and I thought it was funny and okay!! :P

  • Bib-budget films doesn't have to mean top-notch Ray Harryhausen special effects. You must look out for the decorative sets, the acting, etc.

  • This looks nothing like Iceland.

  • it's like a dream. Very good film

  • Just caught this on xfinity the other day. Loved it.

  • I wish they wouldn't remake these kinds of Movies. They should remain Classic! I love the 1959 Version of The Journey to The Center of The Earth. :)

  • when i was a kid i cried when that duck died...

  • @JimmyTheKiller Oh my gosh Jimmy, I came to this video to post that same thing, haha. Glad I wasn't the only one.

  • @JimmyTheKiller Poor Gertrude :(

  • first film I fall in love in my life.... It's an EPIC! Love the book too Jules Verne is a genius! Love the Rick Wakeman's album too!!!!! LOVE IT ALL

  • WOW.

  • Hey! That's the duck that lays the royalties eggs! ;])

  • The Lost City & Continent of ATLANTIS has NOT been Totally Lost,I Jules VIEIRA on behalf of Jules VERNE,Tell ALL People of my Past Life's Predicted Internet, that PLATO of Athens,GREECE is Fully correct, ATLANTIS lies just West of the Pillars of Hercules(Rock of Gibralter.). 2 Socialist ATLANTIS-PORTUGUESE words have Survived the Ancient Millenniums from Minoan GREAT GREECE DEMOCRACY CRETE of the Mediterannean Cyclades. The Words "GRAVATA"=Tie & "TAVERNA"=Tavern,is BOTH Known toGREECE & PORTUGAL!

  • stop hating on the remake .. its very enjoyable

  • Cryptozoology novel see video book trailer

  • The new 3D remake was utterly dissapointing

  • dude, these are hilarious!! saw this in webmovietube

  • This film made even the" Stratum of Cinnabar" seem monumental!!! Love it!!!

  • James Mason and giant lizards. That beats crappy 3-D and a boring story any day.

  • Nothing beats the book. The book is far more marvelous than any film could recreate!!

  • @tman9801 Not a single film came close to the book

  • what da :)

  • This is a great movie, I can't believe the crappy remake they came out with a few years back.

  • @plusbabs Hollywood has earned a reputation over the years for crappy remakes. There have been a few exceptions, but the originals are definitely the best.

  • i wondering how bored this film

  • gertrude!

  • One awesome movie. Read the book and watched the movie.

  • I originally saw this , Christmas 1959..I thought it was such a technical marvel then, Compared to 2010, it's primitive.....What a country !

  • Would it have been "wrong" to just have Prof. Lindenbrock, Axel, and Hans in this movie? This movie just seems so...cheesy. I don't remember any of those things from the book.

  • Love this movie.

  • the duck died :(

  • @RyanDo2000 YEA HE GOT EATEN BY FATBOY

  • Very nice movie - far beyond better than the 2008 version

  • @NikZak83 NOTHING BEATS THE ORIGINAL

  • the funny thing is James Mason also played capitan Nemo in 20,000 leagues under the sea some years after this, he is just a grate actore.

  • I will watch this movie over every few years till the day i die, Its brilliant.

  • @Mentorcase YOU ARE SO RIGHT

  • I believe that this film and "State Fair" were the only movies that Pat Boone was ever in.

It's too bad because I thought he was a pretty good actor.

  • I just finished reading the book. This trailer bears no relation to the book in any way, shape or form. Strange that the writers felt they were better storytellers than Jules Verne.

  • That's Hollywood/20th Century Fox(1959) who wanted to spice it up and add a female character on the journey and they didn't have to marine reptiles fight each other while they were on the raft like in the book. Check out "Jules Verne's Fabulous Journey to the Center of the Earth" from Spain with English actors c 1976 but retitled for the US as "Where Time Began" released in 1978 instead-stays truer to the book but some of the dinos look bad. Oh well, can't win 'em all-lol!!

  • Here's to the prof of geology, master of all natural history, rare boy is he and rare boys are we, to know such a big curiosity!

  • this and war of the worlds pwns

  • I LOVE this movie and I always have. Great cast. Great script. Excellent cinematography. And I think iguanas with fins on their backs look a lot better than today's digital dinosaurs. I always thought this movie should be remade with Dolph Lundgren playing Hans and perhaps Ben Cross playing the professor.

  • Probably the only film to use lizards in costume to good effect.

  • At the begininng of the film the Carla chracter was prudishly dressed from head to toe. But after the storm she was lookin preety hot. Hair let down, tattered dress, visible cleavage, bare feet. That storm did an improvement on her Victorian wardrobe

  • i loved this movie too :) (i think i have seen it 'only 2 times)

  • THIS FILM ROCKS!!!! Some of the best special effects ever! Beats the crap out of anything today.

  • I didnt know their was an OLD version, interesting.

  • Clearly Gertrude the Duck is the real hero in all of this...

  • "Journey to the centre of the Earth 2: The Depths of Depravity."

  • Wow this looks old. New one is much better and in 3D, but i'll give credit for this one. The special FX are good for its time

  • i've seen the movie

    it's old , but it's nostalgy that's fun

but the new is much better

  • Check out my movie I did based on this book.

  • In the movie it's Snaeffels Jokull, but in the book it's Sneffels, but still an awesome movie.

  • A classic movie and made true to the Jules Verne novel. Enjoyed this one as a kid many years ago. Forget the 2008 re-make its total garbage, ruined by not following the book in my opinion.

  • COMING4U said it!!! <3

I have been watching this movie since I was a wee tyke, and have enjoyed every second, even the fake effects. My favorite part is the scene with Atlantis- truly enchanting!

  • This movie beats that BRANDON FRASER mess, hands down !

  • Scientifically speaking it's nonsense, but as a Kid I loved this movie and I still do.

  • 'Rubbish'? How old might you be...? It's one of the best sci-fi/fantasy films of all time, along with the original Time Machine and 20.000 Leagues under the Sea.

  • Another favorite! I love old movies that actually had to use something other than CGI to generate their effects. That was true creativity!

  • Stay away from the 2008 remake. Nothing but a piece of shite for simple minded people. See this one instead - if you dare!

  • @dublinboyo omg how dare you say that i LOVE THE NEW ONE! it has josh hutcherson in it!!

  • it's from 1959 shithead...

  • moron

  • No remake can beat the epic awesomeness of this movie.

This november, I think, will be the movie's 50th anniversary.

  • this old movie is released 30 years before i was born

    and yet...

i felt that this movie is much better than its remake

i can feel the thrill, the originality of its concept, the skill and effort of cinematography (remembering during that time there is no CG and stuff)

but well..the new one wasn't bad at all..

  • I love the 2008 one!

    It ROCKS!

  • A cult classic nowadays and wouldn't you know - Pat Boone is in it!

It was stiil making the rounds as a saturday matinee movie in the mid-60s at the local theatre when I was just a little kid .

Believe it or not, this movie was scary for a kid like me in those days!

It was the blockbuster popcorn movie of its day.

  • this is maybe the best movie i've ever seen in my life. ohhh it's soooo good.

    the remake was so disappointing.

    JAMES MASON FTW!

  • the first one is based off a novel, so the creators of the original had that to work with.

the recent one is just for fun, made with special effects and for entertainment.

I personally like the first one, becuase of its story

  • times sure have changed since then

  • Oh GOD! They how the power to super-impose tiny reptiles!

Looking forward to seeing this one actually. Looks much better than the Frasier one.

  • Argh......... Is there an ORIGINAL movie!!!! All the movies are soooo not original!! There only supposed to be The Prof,Axel and Hans! NO ONE ELSE!!! Uh... If anyone finds the ORIGINAL please let me know, Thanks

  • the new movie is better

  • By far the original here is the best.

  • men

  • I likes the hot Dutch stereotype Hans; the paint on Gertrude towards the end of the movie seems to be coming off :D

  • Great movie. Much better the the 2008 version I saw this evening. The new is light and fun. The original had substance and magic. Left you with a feeling of wonder.Loved it as a kid, still love it today. By the way Stoned Superstar I think the move you are thinking about is the Time Machine, with Rod Taylor and Yvette Mimeux. The Morlox were the baddies. Thanks for the clip, great to see after all these years.

  • i like the new one, but it was too short.:(

  • is it not 1959 its 1960 january

  • USA: 16 December 1959

  • what was that other 'old' movie called where they 'drilled' down into the center of the earth. And found themselfs in another world with cave people who were slaves to another humuniod race and there were dinos too.

  • Rove's colonoscopy?

  • hahahaha

  • I dunno, but there was a 1989 version of this movie where they went down a cave in New Zealand and found a colony of ancient-Aztec-like humans living down there. that's my favourite.

  • i wonder if there ever going to make a better movie of 20000 leagues under the sea

  • ha!

    i like the narration.

    its so 50's!

  • I am currently reading the book(for the 1st time)and am curious to see how the book is adapted to the screen. However after seeing this trailer, I think I rather see this one(the original)than the new one with Brendan Frasier. The original seems to stick more to the book than the new film.

  • yes, that's my impression also.

but the new one also seems a lot of fun! ;)

  • Superior to the remake. Well-lit, well put together sequences of exploreres being chased by giant lizards posing as dinosaurs. The low budget shortcuts actually look quite crisp and fit nicely with the quasi-cartoon nature of the film.

  • the music in original!! Bernard Herrmann's electronic and pipe organs and all low register brass and woodwinds - I think still pretty powerful - maybe kids today might think corny?

  • All of the originals were the best. All we ever watch are sci fi/horror/adventure films from the 50s-70s.

I recommened the dvd of this movie, really good restoration when compared to the vhs.

  • The original will always be the best, I have the VHS and watched it all the time as a child. Plus no one can replace the duck.

  • Classic. Better than the shitty remake by a long shot.

  • Still LOVE this movie. Now hollyweird has remade it for 2008 Summer release, and it's what you expect: all special effects with bad actors, and needless/brainless humor for today's movie go-ers. Thank God for the original. Thanks for posting the classic

  • holy shit its been a long time since Ive seen this.

  • WoW! thanks for posting this i love it..i remember seeing this on television like in the 80's i was a kid but i never forgot..now i know what it's called so i can get it..thanks.
