  • It's beautiful. I'm learning still and want to compete in eventing, but my instructor teaches differently to modern dressage. He teaches me teh best points of english and western riding so the point is to get the horse going supple, relaxed and soft while I ride softly with ease and look like I'm doing nothing at all...which after looking at all these classical dressage videos is pretty similar. Maybe we need more of this in the equestrian world.

  • Mehr davon ! :-)

  • Thinking of what Spanish Classical Dressage has brought to my life brings tears to my eyes. My teacher is almost 70 years old and was born in Guatemala. Please share your knowledge with others like me. It is appreciated and needed for the true connection with the horse of any breed.

  • Thank you for contributing this. If only more people took notice of what dressage is truly about then perhaps horses would get a better deal.

  • This is wonderful footage of an old master. There are a few us still out there working and training if you wish to look. Dressage has come a long way in the last 20 years but they still do not totally accept our views on collection and lightness. If you wish to look at equidancer on youtube

  • I'm classical dressage rider myself, its the highest goal to achieve the descent de main, you cant achieve it with all this pulling and squishing they do in modern dressage, horses too tight, too low in hyperflexion, i get sick watching it, horses runnig with eyes rolling, stomping on the forehand, no harmony or flow whatsoever, just horrible, people need to speak up when they come across these riders who think they are the shit!!!

  • agreed completely

    K.

  • Yes, it is a joy you noticed and it is a joy you speak. This observations must be passed on because they are humanly [and horsely] valuable.

  • @Sisty41

    interesting!!!

  • @Sisty41 the worst part is us Classical riders arent' the ones winning medals in the Grand Prix. It's the modern riders and their rollkur. *shakes head*

  • Couldn't agree more! More and more academic research regarding the horse's physiological and psychological wellbeing is showing that 'classical' methods (when done correctly) are superior to some of the techniques in modern dressage. I wish we call take a bit of time to look at this.

  • The world needs more of this classical mastership such as Nuno and joao

  • Nuno and João are also mostly forgotten at the source. You must therefore be angels here in this thinking space. I love fairies and gnomes, I send you all my love.

  • Thank you for taking the time it took to get this up.

What a shame we dont have he and Klimke anymore to show the world that tension is not needed to produce world class dressage...:(
