  • What a treat...when that tune used to come on the radio, we knew we were late for school!!

  • Reminds me of the Trollalol song

  • This reminds of Primary School. When it came on the Radio it was time to be out the door and running down the road!! John Murray is NOT THE SAME today!

  • way ahead of his time, a legend and i mean LEGEND!

  • @tipperary1

Glad you liked it. I don't suppose you have details of the tune/artist used for the Radio 1 Late Date theme?

  • @radioman02

Sorry radioman. Can't help you there :(

  • This reminds me of being "sick" in bed on the hop from school in the 90's....

  • Ok then....Yes indeed my friends...........Yes indeed....dispite all the abuse the sheep was still alive...........Roll it der Collett...........

Brillo my friend....thanks for uploading it ...I,ll be speaking like Gay ALL bloody night....Thank YOU :)

  • @radioladdie --- and there's one for everyone in the audience. As well as colette, didn't he also have roisin doing the honours for a while.

  • Hi LEIREANN

Actually it first began as the Gay Byrne Hour at 10am. Later it was put back to after the 9am news.

  • EEK! It's quite creepy being transported back 25 years - the last few seconds used for the commercial break make my hair stand on end.

  • @caggles1 glad you liked it.

  • Actually the Gay Byrne Hour started after the 9am News, JP, not the 10.

  • Great memories this theme tune ..how about Gay coming back and replacing Tubridy I believe he's off to greener pastures in the autumn ..so how about it Gay we all miss that theme tune

  • @hungryherbie Well said - couldn't agree more with you !

  • If you remember this music getting ready for school you must have been very late!! The Gay Byrne Hour (later show) began at 10am. It was a Monday to Friday show, never on Sundays. One of the best shows on radio, Gay was a great broadcaster.

  • Remember this tune getting ready for school in the morning during the late 80s early 90s. Brings back fond memories.

  • WOW i stumbled upon this searching for bosco !! Thank you for the memories of sunday radio and my mom making the best smelling roast chicken dinners, Cheers 2 u :)

  • This reminds me of when I was growing up! Lovely!! Do you have a digital version of the song??? Can't get it on iTunes!!

    Thanks for posting this... Great!

  • Thanks sooooo much for the memory! Lovely September mornings, the kids all gone back to school, a kitchen all to myself and Gay. Bliss!

  • @mrssmokie Ha, I can just picture you alright, with a red check apron on baking a cake with lots of Odlums flour and a pot of Barrys boiling away on the cooker. Where has Irelands good old days gone?? :)

  • Thanks for the upload. Listen to the last 3-4 seconds for those bits before and after the commercial breaks. Ah, brings me back. Loved Gaybo's show.
