Actually it first began as the Gay Byrne Hour at 10am. Later it was put back to after the 9am news.

EEK! It's quite creepy being transported back 25 years - the last few seconds used for the commercial break make my hair stand on end.

If you remember this music getting ready for school you must have been very late!! The Gay Byrne Hour (later show) began at 10am. It was a Monday to Friday show, never on Sundays. One of the best shows on radio, Gay was a great broadcaster.
