  • If they were trying to start the franchise with this film, why call it Saw? I don't see any sawblades here (don't get me wrong, this is amazing - i'm just saying)

  • 7:46-8:17 My favourite part

  • I only like this one and part 1, the others are crap.. GO LEIGH WHANNELL <3

  • illuminati at 8:53 his eye is inside the triangle thumbs up if you agree

  • This is a GREAT beggining to the SAW franchise!! :D

  • I like tobin bells voice better, but am greatful this was created

  • I think David got captured because he was smoking a lot and even claimed that life was 'overrated'.

  • @ValiantSkyRider720 no ur wrong since he was captured a moment after he said that, therefore it was planned well in advance since whoever took him cut the power to the lift and waited. besides only the nurse he said it to heard....

  • @darkfish2 yeah regardless of who heard the comment though, the point is, he saw like as overrated. His opinions weren't exactly kept quiet, anyone could have know his feelings on life.

  • This plus the first 3 were probably the best. Then 4,5, and 6 were okay, but they could've done them better. Saw 3D sucked. It ties in more of the story, but the acting is horrible and it was more of a blood fest than anything else.

  • lol, but i just noticed that the intro has screaming slave by nine inch nails. i just noticed.

  • The short film is somehow better than the entire franchise itself...

  • @HandelMcmandle this short film was terrible.... any other saw scene was great

  • @HandelMcmandle ya but u gotta admit tobin bell plays of jigsaws voice way better than that guy

  • @sitesabetuer True. I can't argue with that.

  • The altruist morality of the franchise sucked bigtime, especially the garbage about medical care and insurance companies.

  • wow! Freaky, never seen saw before and someone recomened I watch this one to see what it's like :)

  • @TheChibberd Watch all 7 they are truly amazing.

  • LOOOL Nice hat Billy (Y)

  • @XHyenaClanX billy looks better. he has proper hair, eyes, and lips. LOL

  • AWESOME !!

  • Leigh Whannell is so amazing in this. It must've been so difficult to raise the money in order to shoot this nine-minute film. Plus he built the reverse bear trap himself.

The one in the movie isn't fully-fuctional, but this one is, so it takes a brave man to wear it! Plus he's a great actor and smoking hot as usual. XD

  • @NathanReeceAshley

its not adam its just the same actor

  • Is it just me or does it sounds like he's masturbating while wearing the device?

  • GLAD THEY FINALLY GOT BILLY (THE DOLL) WORKED OUT!

  • 7:28

    did the trap work?

  • Way before Hoffman..

  • Also, I think that they do want to die, they just don't wanna die like that.

  • "Living is over-rated!" Nice choice of words you dumb fuck

  • i had watched te one episode of anoying orange where this clawn is parodied before the whole saw series. and this crazy guy isn't scary any more

  • It's funny how different Saw has become from then to now.

  • I know this isn't really included as an "official film" in the series...but I this short film is so well done, so amazing, that it's my favorite Saw film in the series.

  • its australian!

  • @imdamanindahouse yep the saw franchise was based from an australian short film so technically and i use that term loosely it is an australian film franchise. and this version of saw probably the least fucked up that australia has produced in terms of movies lol. we have no decent film companies makes us all look like retards.

  • @TVRnGTR

hay wait, u guys dont hav it so bad, i mean the cgi from films like harry potter and lord of the rings was done in australia...sure not many "gr8" films r made there but u chip in to som of the best known films ever

  • @TheSamster64 i'll agree with that.

  • @imdamanindahouse yep sure is, and you know what, the more the americans took over, the crapper it got!

  • Way better than the other movies

  • amanda wore that in the first movie

  • the problem with this reverse bear trap was that it was actually rusted and was fully functional. making it very dangerous. Amanda's reverse bear trap had artificial rust and was made safer.

  • Personally, I love the Amanda character but I actually prefer this to the one in the actual film. Not by much though. Both were great.

  • Stephen King's got NOTHING on this.

  • live or die, make... your... chocie EIPC

  • 1:36 - 1:39 <-- LOOOL

  • but wat i relly got fucked up on the mvie is the fucking hair and the fucking hat

  • Ok so I have a question. I thought that the soundtrack (which can be heard in the credits of this short) was produced for the movie, so why is it in the pitch? Plus how did the creators actually make the reverse bear trap thing without the funds from the movie?

  • @SnowyNightfall

there a video u can make it from home supplies wtahc it

  • @SnowyNightfall The people who wrote/produced the saw franchise did this.

  • @Indy121 Yes i know I'm not trying to say that these things were stolen, I'm just wondering how these guys got the funds before the movie was made to make this short. Cus I think they were ordinary people who weren't rich...well maybe the short wasn't very expensive to make? Idk

  • @SnowyNightfall The could've used money out of their own pockets, like some people do for college film projects? I'm not sure.

  • @Indy121 He had been raising the money since about 2001, maybe the late 2000s.

  • @Indy121 He had been raising the money since about 2001, maybe the late 2000.

  • creo q esta prueba esta mejor con adam(david) que con amanda xD

  • La madre de la saga!!!

  • it kinda doesn't make sense.... if he got captured in 0.5, then wouldn't he have watched his back in 1? that's atleast what i would have done...

  • @boondockschop30 It's a pitch, not a prequel. The movie was made because of this short, not the other way around. Common mistake considering the name of it, though.

  • @boondockschop30 - thebrentsharp is right, this was just a pitch instead of an actual SAW installment. They included the scene in SAW but obviously it was Amanda, not Leigh/Adam/David.

  • i liked the dolls hat!

  • i was reading this on wikipedia and it was later proven that the device he was wearing was fully functional and very dangerous but in the films they made it safer....

    :O

  • @corky4life Oooh, so now Wikipedia is Encyclopedia Britanica, and it's actually correct. wow, my mind is blown :O

  • @JegHederKasper

    Wow.

Quit trying to pretend you don't know what it is.

"Reverse bear trap" is a term ONLY used in this movie. It is not a real device.

Therefore, you asking "is that a reverse bear trap?" is a lame attempt at pretending you didn't hear JigSaw, yet have knowledge of the device and you want to look cool and knowledgeable on the web.

Since the device is fictional, and only mentioned in Saw, you FAIL. Big time.

  • so was he in two traps or did he escape both

  • @multimatthew97 Same actor, but different movies. And he didn't escape the second trap.

  • Horrifying. They made a male nurse cut a living guy open?! Ugghh!

  • I really wish I saw this BEFORE the films!

Since the editing, acting, etc was perfect in Amanda's interview/game scene, I can't help but look at this short and make little criticisms.

  • omg, this is almost shot for shot amandas trap! weird.

  • I still dont get how he has the cut on his mouth and cheek

  • @gamaroy Because one part was connected to his upper jaw and another on the lower.

  • its like the amanda's test in the 1st SAW

  • @GeorgeSoui This is exactly the same. They copyed it from this to the movie

  • In other words,Jigsaw make criminal who don't worth their life do tests where they have to suffer and add more criminal records to be alive then worth their life?...?Er........

  • what is the song at 0:57 called?

  • Is it just me or do the clown look complete different in this short movie?

  • @lukalindh they're the same. this one just looks like he got his teeth pulled and his cheeks are all swollen up. haha I personally like the way Jigsaw sounds in the movie better than in this...

  • Comment removed

  • Is this gory...? I enjoy the saw movies, but I HATE gore. Can someone let me know how gory this is, or if there are any parts i should skip? :/ Thanks

  • @Austinbit it's cool. watch it :) it hasn't disgusting or scary parts

  • @Austinbit how can you enjoy the saw movied and hate gore, lol! thats surely just a double negative!

  • @likeastarbaby I guess you must be uneducated.

A double negative means two negatives.

That shouldn't be very fucking hard to figure out.

I think the word you're looking for is "contradiction".

  • @4cellar2door0 Lollllllllll, okay who are you and why are you crying and swearing because I used the wrong word? Get a life!

  • @Austinbit it's not gory at all.

  • Why The hell is He HandCuffed, he didnt do anything?

    I <333 Leigh Whannell

  • @Sk8rgal12 technically he did kill a person to get the key. Therefore this makes it 2nd degree murder

  • @angelabaker1000 But he did it to save his Life, Amanda does the same thing in the movie saw, and she doesnt get arrested, or does she? lol

  • @angelabaker1000 he wouldn't be convicted

  • @PIVOTMAN101 you never know...

  • why do jigsaw kill people?

  • @wierdnewseventect technically they kill them selves he just gives them the tools and puts them in the situation to do it. he only does it to people that from his point of view doesnt value their life. such as murders pedos abusive husbands ect. he makes them either go thru some extraordinary pain or do somthing very gruesome or else they will die

  • @wierdnewseventect he tries to make people better by putting them through test to make them face their flaws

  • i like how it hits him on the head lol

i love adam i know his name is David in this but what is this, wa

ssaw like a short film before it became a movie

im sorry i have only seen the movies

  • that 'gay' that played David in this and Adam in the first Saw film is actually the creator, writer and executive producer of the Saw Franchise dumbass!!

  • @ivorbrighton co- creater and co-writer

  • @ivorbrighton whaat?? he's gay??

  • @whydicare well, honestly-- that's pretty vague at this point. Because when the first Saw movie first made its way into theaters, many people were under the impression that it was titled that because of the fact that Jigsaw's victims had to saw their way out to escape. In fact, more often than not the DVD designs are styled after buzz saws.

  • @Uchiha1412Toshi I'm almost definite that the movies are called Saw because they had to saw their way out...

  • @BFitzProductions or because the clown guy is called jigsaw?

  • David looks like ADAM LOL

  • @adil11223344 thats because thats Leigh Whannel the guy who writes and created saw, he plays both David in this and Adam in Saw

  • no way

  • what an amzing short film! can see why it kciked off a great franchise

  • I still prefer the scene with Amanda. They're almost identical, though!

  • sweeeet! been hunting for this, never knew its "name"

    lulz

but he is a janator :S

  • Why is the detective so aggresive! Man!

  • ugh. the info thing says he's a male nurse, but he's not!! it says in the video that he's a janitor!! wtf??

  • He's a male nurse, but his job is basically just cleaning up after sick people, so he calls himself a "glorified janitor."

  • does anybody know if he got away with killing the guy?

  • have you not seen the saw films.

  • This was made before the saw films.

  • i would liked it if he failed. lml. peace

  • SO creepy!

  • i Love His Lil' Hat

  • I thought the name came from the fact that in the 1st movie they had to "saw" their bodies up.

  • can someone explain how to make that opening?

  • has anyone actually died from the bear trap in any of the saw movies

  • Nope, Someone was placed in one and escaped in the sixth movie out of pure luck!

(Sorry, not gonna go revealing any spoilers in case anyone gets angry at me! :) )

  • no no one

  • is that Adam from the first movie?

  • Kinda, its the actor who played him but not the character Adam. Lionsgate must have let him be in their film cause he was the one who helped make the original plotline and Story.

  • they let him in it because it is his film,he is execetive producer.

  • Well actually, he wrote the entire script for the first three saw movies, so he probably wrote himself in.

Adam's my favourite character in the movies. :)

  • @MischiefMovieMakers he's the writer of the screenplay of both this and the first feature film, Leigh Whannell.

  • yes. he was one of the directors too I think.

  • yes

  • Saw the Reverse Bear Trap was in this and Saw 1? Sweet (:

  • Gotta Love Saw

  • reverse bear trap!

  • @Tim2170 I want one!

  • Kageetai, an orderly and a nurse are two different things.

  • This partially confuses me. I always thought the Saw series was named after the fact that in the first movie, the victims had to use saws to cut their foot off. So obviously, there is no saws in the original 9 minute film.... So what does "Saw" mean?

  • I guess they made it while the first one was in production just to get hype on the film. Good point tho

  • well, Saw 0.5 was originally made to pitch to studios so they could get a full-length feature movie made.

  • I saw the first 4 movies and am watching the 5th at this very moment and I think that Saw came from "The Jigsaw Killer" where Jigsaw was made shorter into 'saw. Jigsaw would sound like an adventure film for pre-teens so they chose Saw because it's short, easy to remember and suggests violence other than having the time of your life solving a colorful puzzle. Whatever.

  • Jigsaw is where the movie name came from

  • im annoyed,

    adam is in number one

and its amanda thats meant be in the head thing

    this frustrated me lol

  • Who is playing the dolls voice?

    I have to know!!!

  • jigsaw

  • Do you think I'm stupid? What ACTOR is playing Jigsaw's voice?

  • isnt that the same guy who acts as adam in saw1

  • Yeah, he also wrote Saws I-III and the videogame

  • he wrote it?!?!?!?!

  • HOW can you guys watch theese apparently this was a diluted version of what the feature films are supposedf to be like xD

  • not to be a creep or anything but this actor gave a waaaaay better reaction after he took off the device... =)

  • did billy say soul mate? that was a guy on the floor. adams gay?

  • It's funny, people think this is some made-up fake thing. Nope. It's the real beginning :) I love Saw :D

  • Dude 1:38 so funny!

  • an awesome effect they add to it is the lighting effects

  • another difference is that billy (the puppet) has a different voice in this.

  • Duh.

  • Also, his trap was REAL...

  • He also Had a Hat :)

  • thats Adam from Saw 1 and he's the original writer and screenplay writer

  • so many deja vu XD

its the exact scene from amanda

now you can see how they started

    pretty good =D

  • subscribe to me for updates on Saw VI.

  • thnx halowarpower5 and ferchu2108

  • livings overated u jackass... lol

  • 1:38 ROFL!!

    just think about it!

  • Is This Adam From Saw 1??

  • Yep! Well not exactly this guy is named david in this film but the actor who play david and adam is the same.

  • yes! but his name in this one is david and he is also the writter of both movies this one and saw from 2004 =)

  • Little nagging point. Orderlies and nurses are not the same thing. Orderlies are mostly "errand" people. Help to move patients, take 'information' around (everything from blood samples to xrays to meds) etc.

Nurses are 3yr degrees at university. I should know, I'm a nurse.

  • Ok, but movies don't have to make perfect sense. Take Transformers. Thats shit and makes no sense but still made money.

  • The struggling scene from 2:53 to 3:40 is WAY too long. That is in my opinion. I just think it's kind of boring. Maybe I'm missing some kind of hidden meaning behind prolonged struggling scenes?

  • I think it's just long enough. Thirty-ish seconds is about the time needed to lull a viewer into thoughts of a scenes permanance. Then you can effectively break the belief that nothing is going to change, as is done with Jigsaw's appearance.

  • So what's really being said is...for those of us who saw the movies first before this short film...30 seconds may seem like a long time. But when this ORIGINALLY came out...people didn't know that there was going to be a puppet and "game" following him struggling in the trap. So at the time...30 seconds was perfect...

  • @Darkeagle22 Yep.

  • i remember watching this a loooooong time ago and i remember having a dream that this short was gonna become a full length film

  • the maker of Saw (Darren Lynn Bousman) also made Repo! The Genetic Opera,. that was a good movie. the only musicals I'll ever watch are gory ones (like Sweeny Tood, but that's also cuz of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. they make a GREAT team)

  • Jigsaw sounds like he has a cold.
