Whitat was your point than Mr Brain? You said the world wouldn't have been better if JFK lived, and now you're saying it would have. You said the world would not have been a better place if 60,000 people had lived...anyone can see from the disasterous times of the mid to late 1960s that surely if JFK had lived it would have been a different time for AMerica than what came after his assassination...process that mr comprehension.
i think this is supposed to make fun of the idea of only 1 shooter when JFK was assassinated. cos some people even called it a "magic bullet" and that's why most people come up with conspiracies about it. I think Seinfeld is enough proof that JFK was shot by more than 1 man.
I think they were really making light of the whole JFK assassination....not in favor of any conspiracy...the actor who played Newman was also in Oliver Stone's JFK....and it really isn't very funny because they are making light of a tradgey that changed the world for the worse.
@3dartistguy First of all they're not making light of the JFK assassination, they're parodying a scene from the film. Huge difference. No commentary is being made about JFK assassination at all.
Second, how do you know it changed the world for the worse? That's a very ignorant way of thinking, considering the ripple of reactions the death of one man has in time (let alone someone so influential). It's impossible to predict how obscenely different the world would be for better or worse.
i know for a fact being a ardent historian of the JFK presidency that yes, one man can make a difference. I don't believe JFK would have continued our involvement in Vietnam had he lived. LBJ changed his executive orders on the very day they buried Kennedy to increase our involvement in Vietnam. 60,000 people may have lived if JFK hadn't been assassinated on that day in Dallas and maybe all ther other crazy, mindless things that happened later in the 60s wouldn't have happened either.
@3dartistguy 60,000 people may have lived then, that doesn't mean the world would be a better place today. More people living doesn't make the world a better place, and unless you're some ignorant teenager it can't be hard to see that logic.
You can't just close your eyes and say him being alive would make the world a better place and ignore everything else it would change. You'd think a historian would have a better grasp of cause and effect.
We're not talking about some ignorant teenager, we're talking in the context of the President of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, and yes, I do believe that our country's course did change the day of his assassination,.if anything you're the one who is closing his eyes about the possibly of the good constructive change that JFK was intending to bring to the world through his presidency. Many historians have said our country's course changed that tradgic day in Dallas, Texas.
@3dartistguy I never said there was no possibility he'd have done good. The difference being you're saying his death changed the world for the worse as if it were guaranteed things would be better if he hadn't died.
Could things be better if he lived? Sure. Could they be worse if he lived? Yup. Maybe after you finish high school you can look back at my comments with some amount of reading comprehension.
@queerp This was Jerry's (the real person) way of plugging Wayne Knight's role in JFK which was still in theaters at the time. He and Larry David were basically doing Knight a favor by writing this scene into the episode, and it turned out to be one of the most classic Seinfeld scenes.
Its funny because Wayne Knight( Newman) actually did the same re-enactment in the film JFK and was positioned in the same spot in the movie re-enactment.
whats the issue between zardari and your mother? heard that she came on live TV and told that she had an illegitimate affair with zardari? and u r zardari`s son? is that true?
The man with the umbrella (lol) he lifts it as they walk by at 0:36 just like the theory when jfk was shot...you can also see him at 1:35
At 1:04 the guy they show with the camera i think is supposed to be like Zapruder with the jfk assasination---1:59 he drops his baseball cap (just like when governor Connally dropped his hat)--and then when he says "behind the bushes on the graveley road" or the "grassy knoll" at 3:07
check out the guy with the video camera at 1:04, in '87 video camera's weren't that small. -- im just saying. this is one of the greatest bits in sitcom history, IMHO.
i have to go with this clip and 'the fire' with eric the clown.
