  • Whhhyyyy is this soooooooooooooooo sad???? :'(

  • just thinking how much shit dr cox takes in scrubs, he kills 3 people in a day, best friend dies on his sons birthday, everything that happens in the end of season 1, when laverene dies on the day they find out jordans pregnant. he is actually a really strong person to get through all of that.

  • Manly tears.

  • 5:28 DUN DUN DUUUN! That's a twist worthy of M. Night Shyamalan.

  • Where do you think we are?

  • Whats the song at the end?

  • @bruv4eva Joshua Radin - Winter :)

  • From 4:45 on.... gah. I always get goosebumps and tear up. The camera work, music, and acting perfected it all.

    Scrubs<3

  • That was sad as hell. I was in shock when I saw the ending. Like everyone else, I had to watch it again to see all the signs. Powerful stuff, and top notch writing. This is definitely one of my favorite episodes from any TV show ever.

  • Oh my god, I just got it! Hahahaha Ben is the one who died in the 20 minutes! Aahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Mind=blown

  • i didn't see kim, future girlfriend of JD, at the funeral

  • @BeJay91 it's because she's still wearing her wedding ring!

  • @OWallen123 haha how could I forget :p

  • I think overall My Lunch was sadder, but the one line "where do u think we are?" was the saddest line in scrubs

  • Shower wallet. The new way of washing money..

  • I never want to see Dr.Cox cry again. That throughs my heart into a ball.

  • im not even gonna lie this episode did bring tears to my eyes, and whats the name of the song??

  • @WarhawksKilla345 Joshua Radin "Winter"

  • This is wat makes scrubs different from other comedy's

  • I want Shower Shortz :(

  • I cried :')

  • Episodes with Ben has fooled me twice.

  • TEARY

  • *___* so so so emotional. And I know I'm not the only one who cried.....don't even try and deny it....

  • wow. so powerful.

  • Jesus, never thought Scrubs would make me cry...

  • I think when BEN gives the advice...

  • I think when gives the advice to dr.cox he is actually dead and is just dr.cox's conscience, but im not sure

  • This episode, My Old Lady and My Lunch/My Fallen Idol are my favorite episodes out of the entire series.

  • can I ask a simple question. Why do so many people write do you know who sings this song? What song plays at the end of episode. Do people ask because they are to lazy to look it up themselves. It only takes a couple google searches usually to find songs. Sorry just venting. Its such a pet peeve of mine. Love this episode btw!

  • Where do you think we are?

  • Does anyone know what's the name of the song played in the funeral scene?

  • @lanocondo joshua radin - winter

  • Acceptance can take many forms...

  • Am I a dork for crying my eyes out?

  • This is arguably one of the best and saddest episodes of scrubs. It does beg the question, when did Ben actually die during the episode though.

  • @funman1831 Mhm not really, there is a very clear and defined cut between everyone and then just Doctor Cox interacting with Ben. It directly coincides with the scene of JD telling Perry "Twenty minutes after you left he went into cardiac arrest. We tried to resuscitate him, but there was nothing we could do."

So that is the point at which Ben died.

  • @LeonardLew Also, for the rest of the Episode Ben is wearing exactly what he was wearing when he showed up at the hospital, and after the "patient" was pronounced dead, you never see Ben with the camera again. Remember the line "till the day I die"?

  • ben was like the best character ever, he was a kind funnier version of the janitor. ben you were awesome.

  • WARNING!!!!!! DONT READ THE COMMENTS TILL AFTER YOU FINISH THE EPISODE!!!!!

  • @AliceSeries Why?

  • @Floater976 cuz they give away important things and contain spoilers. for example i read a comment and it told me the janitors real name

  • @AliceSeries what is his name?

  • @Floater976 In the Season 8 finale he tells J.D. that his name is Glenn Matthews "My Finale" was previously intended to be the series finale, in which the Janitor's real name would be revealed. When J.D. asks why the Janitor is only revealing his name now, the Janitor points out that J.D. has never before asked what his name is, and proves that J.D. has already forgotten it. However just a few seconds later, someone else walks by and calls the janitor by a different name. --Wikipedia

  • Why did they have to kill Ben? He's one of my favourite characters!

  • After watching this episode for several times, I finally understand what happens

  • At the very end, Dr.Cox's cheeks make him look like a chipmunk

  • Damn.. I wanted to watch the episode again to see all the clues but I just can´t.. I just can´t do it.

  • Name of the song at 5:17? <3

  • @crAwN88 Winter by Joshua Radin

  • I love Ben's puppet act

  • I think JD already figured out that Cox is denying the fact that Ben's dead, that's why he said "Where do you think we are?" because he knows that Cox was still coping with the fact that his best friend was dead when he wasn't there.

  • You don't cacth it the first time around and it catches you by surprise. But everytime you watch it again it's even sadder because you already know what's coming and you get emotional every time he tells cox something

  • N ... N ... NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEN!!!!!

  • This plus the "Bittersweet" MLP fanfic equals A HELL LOT OF TEARS

  • wow this is so sad

  • Oh my god. This is so beautiful and touching yet very sad... I'm in awe.

  • i had a tear at the end... :) love this episode, so sweet, funny, and sad <3

  • Probably my favourite Scrubs episode, the plot was brilliant! Also love it because it introduced my to joshua radin and now I love all his music. Without scrubs I wouldn't have found out about sooooo many great songs and artists. Great show.

  • this episode was great, but I'm confused. When did Jordan's brother die?

  • @TheAnnilateGuy because his cancer came back, and he had not had it checked out for 2 years....

  • @linkgold64 ohhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • @TheAnnilateGuy yeah i know sooo sad........

  • @linkgold64 ik Ben was so cool...

  • @TheAnnilateGuy yes, yes he was.....

  • @TheAnnilateGuy While Cox was gone. When JD went up to him with the folder and said there was nothing I could do, he went into cardiac arrest 20 minutes after you left.

  • Best episode of Scrubs. For anyone who's ever lost a friend, it makes sense. It's not easy for them to be there one minute and then gone the next.

  • Ben tried to tell Dr.Cox what was going on at 0:17 he refers to his "mental breakdown" ...Genius, it really is.

  • every time i watch this episode it makes my tear up. so good!

  • Comment removed

  • the thoughts put in this episode was great !!

but did anyone notice, karla is wearing glasses at 6:12

  • It's genius, when you watch it for the second time you notice that Ben has the same clothes every day, and that nobody but Dr. Cox seems to notice him. Genius...

  • @SuperrolloMovies people should also take note that Cox asks Ben if he's still carrying that camera around every where he goes to which Ben responds "'Till the day I die". When Cox is the only one who sees him, Ben doesn't have the camera anymore...

  • @KingdomWars89 Whow your right!

  • WOW WOW WOWWWW @ the ending.

  • I watched this episode over 7 times, but when J.D. says 'Where do you think we are?' It hits me like It was the first. I guess I'm not the only one who cried at 5:39 right? Just shows how strong Scrubs is to make us be so sad about a TV character that died. I love that show so much and Ben was one of my favorite characters,... sad yet amazing episode...

  • @Norw3gianMoos3 I did ): It was sad I liked Ben

  • @Norw3gianMoos3 "Where do you think we are?" is the best moment in the whle series. It kills me every single time...

  • @Norw3gianMoos3 trust mee i always cry over it and my girlfriend is always comforting mee coz i had a bestfriend that was like a dad who died and it always reminds meee of himm

  • @MateyBoyx I'm sorry for your lost

  • @Norw3gianMoos3 I agree with everything you just said. They don't make tv shows like this anymore. :(

  • @MarcDarko IK ): That's why I'm watching every episode for the million time now . Scrubs, best series ever :)

  • Damn Ben!

  • 3:44

"Peace Sam" on the locker behind Ben. I wonder if that's for John Ritter. His character's name was Sam

  • Sadest Scrub episode ever. Thats why I love Scrubs every single episode is impresive, exept fir the 9 season.

  • 3:56 shower jacket in the background:)

  • Does anyone else get the shiver when JD says "Where do you think you are"

  • One guy has no heart

  • I only just recently got into Scrubs and this was one of the episodes that aired tonight in the UK. That ending practically punched me in the stomach. This is absolutely my favourite episode so far because of how heartbreaking it is and all credit to both the writers and Brendan Fraser for making Ben such a loveable character.

  • Why did the entire hospital staff go to Bens funeral?

I mean, I even see Ted there which makes no sense as he hasn't even seen Ben before in any of the episodes.

  • @sentimoko Jordan's brother... she's on the hospital board of directors.

  • @sentimoko

    I find this weird too!

Perhaps the have met him before, or outside of the camera

  • Oh my. It creeps me out how Dr. Cox smiles when he's angry, smiles when he's sad, but when he's happy... nothing...

  • i remember when ben said he'll keep his camera until he dies. and when that literally happened, i went into tears.

  • Tears, all the time.

  • when did ben die? or was he dead the entire time?

  • @ForeversNever

Ben died when Dr. Cox left and gave him to J.D. even though J.D. was swamped. Thats why Dr. Cox felt so guilty, i think your supposed to think its the old man that died until the end

  • @beermasterx is that what it is??

  • @ForeversNever

And he died when JD was getting some medications for a patient. Two seconds later, he was paged and said "That's a code!" to Turk and Carla before he ran off

  • R.I.P Benjamin Sullivan 1968-2004

  • Wait... what happened to Ben at the end??? How did he die????

    btw: Who plays Ben??

  • @TheNewFiasco Obviously it all went right above your head.

Ben was the patient who died early in the episode. That's why Cox was so angry and why he overreacted by blaming JD. From then on when you see Ben, it is just Cox's imagination trying to cope with his friend's death.

If you watch the episode again, you'll see how no one interacts with Ben except Cox.

    Brendan Fraiser plays Ben btw.

  • @TheNewFiasco leukemia took and Brendon Fraser

  • whats that song at the end??

  • @greendayawtw Winter - Joshua Radin

  • Nothing comes close to Scrubs.

  • IF IM NOT HERE PEOPLE DIE

  • Oh, what I'd give to see this for the first time and for the moment of realisation.

  • Excellent screenplay by Zach and the others here :D

  • dr. cox crying gets me every time :/

  • J.D:where do you think we are?

the coldest thing he ever said.

  • ....

    ... ; A ; I was not expecting that.

  • It seems all so obvious the second time around.....

  • omg i thot i was going to cry when i seen his picture on that coffin

  • One of the all-time great episodes of any show, fact

  • This episode is the epitome of damn good television!

  • As soon as Cox turned and didn't see Ben standing next to him anymore, I bursted into tears. :'(

  • @bobbycat1 the same happens for me in My Lunch.

  • "Denial takes many different forms"

5:37 such a shock, really hits you

  • I get goosebumps every time I watch this. <3

  • The End.....damn.....

  • @cheesechoclate Well the American Office comes close, probably equal actually. Scrubs=The Office

  • @TheArcticPhoenix .... seriously? The american office was terrible compared to the British one in my opinion.... I think Scrubs is way out of its league when it comes to drama and comedy. It's interesting to see everyone's different views on it cuz they've been really mixed

  • its ok he just left to fight arnold vaslo in the mummy

  • RIP Ben!

  • god! i cry everytime! i've seen int 6 times but still, when cox starts crying i do too.

  • wait who died?

  • @kimkimamo remember that ben has cancer so even though he looks fine it could change in a snap. in the beginning part of the episode he said that he would take an exam about his cancer and while the exam was happening ben went into cardiac arrest and well you know what happens from here

  • @ufffkfkij besides, Ghost Ben wasn't carrying the camera

  • something inside of me was saying 'I don't think Ben is actually there' I just played it off and then at the end I was like "I KNEW IT!!!" I was crying so much just from this scene...does that make me stupid?

  • @kittysano1 No, it makes you human.

  • best scrubs episode ever... cry every time!

john c. mcginley is one of the best actors of all time

  • So sad I liked Ben :(

  • T_T

  • I love how they develop Kelso's character over the 8 seasons :)

  • "You might find out that thing you hate so much, is the very same thing you miss when it's gone". it's true. My girlfriend used to spend all day texting on her damn phone, and it drove me up the walls. But now that she's gone, I kinda miss not having my phone red hot with her texts.

I miss you, Lien, I really do.

  • What I love about this episode was that Ben carrying round his camera and taking photos was a symbol of his life, and when he died and followed dr. Cox around as a figment of his imagination, he didnt have his camera... Touching show scrubs is....

  • nvm, i just rewatched this. Wow. That is some quality writing. God damn, this show is amazing.

  • I...don't get it O.o what just happened? Was Ben dead the entire time? Whaaaaa?

  • @MasterCipher123 ithink ben is the one that died in the beginning not that old guy

  • I didn't even realize Turk had a mole on his face until this episode.

  • The saddest thing is when Dr Cox is about to cry...makes me tear up also

  • @RockStar12521 I cried D:

  • very sad

  • he DIED!!?? nooooooooooooooooooooo BEN!!!

  • always remember spend as much time with your bestfriend as possible because you never know what will happen then you will regret the time not spent no matter how old you are

  • what was the ending song?

  • @WillsDx winter by josh radin

  • The thought put into this episode was genius

  • Has no dislikes... lets keep it that way :)

  • @meisbobo Mentioning that always results in dislikes, you bastard!

  • hands down the saddest, yet best episode of scrubs ever

  • i think today was thw worst day to watch this episode as today i finally came to grips i lost a friend not to death but for som idiotic year iv had with bad choices that lead to the ending of a friendship very close to me

  • @nwolwo Maybe your friendship is lost for the moment, but remember if your friendship is meant to be you will be friends again, it doesnt matter whos fault it is or what happened, say you love that person and you are sorry for any pain you caused them or accept their apology, if that person is not meant to be your friend then GOD will give you a even more special friend in your life. dont be sad no more, everything will get better.

  • Funny i never noticed turks mole before this episode.

  • to make this vid less sad....

"for the man that has nothing to hide, but still wants to"

    "bangs head against locker"

    BANG

    BANG

    BANG

    :)

  • Also, Ben said he will carry his camera with him until the day he dies. After JD mentions a patient had died, Ben is no longer carrying his camera. That is another thing implying that he was the one who coded 20 minutes after he left.

  • so was JD talking about ben when he told dr cox that he coded and died etc 20 mins after he left?

  • @missmaywhaler I think so. After that moment, Ben doesn't seem to interact or be noticed by anybody other than Dr. Cox. It would seem that working for such long hours caused him to hallucinate that Ben was still alive. Also, when JD says to Dr. Cox "Jordan called, she just wants to make sure you go to that thing today", he didn't specifically mention Jack's party. I think that is a hint, meaning JD was talking about Ben's funeral.

  • Nothing on tv shakes me to the core more than seeing the unphasable doctor cox tearing up

  • if you ever lost someone you care for this episode can show you have friends and family can help you
