I find the whole Roy Ashburn thing astonishing. I'm wondering though is maybe part of the attraction, for him, was the idea of it being "taboo." Kinda like the priests who get caught with porn.

Abner makes an excellent point. I agreed when he said that Roy Ashburn is a leader for hypocrisy. However, when Mackenzie said that perhaps Mr. Ashburn didn't come into his own until after his political reputation was established, and continued on with his ideals against gay rights out of fear of losing everything he had worked for, I believe this may also be a valid point. It's all politics. Maybe his career was more important to him than doing the right thing.

I find it deeply saddening that so many feel that they must condem their own actions and feelings.

Now keeping yourself on the down low is one thing thats another.

Yeah, they're rarely this relaxed when the camera is on (it has a low buzz or humming sound that they don't seem to like), so the fireplace may have been the calming factor balancing that out.
