  • South Vietnam had some great soldiers, but unfortunately the Gov't was so corrupt and inept that these guys never got to lead as they were not part of the good ole boy network of Theiu and his bandits. "A Bright Shining Lie" a Biography of John Paul Vann, written by Neil Sheehan.. basicaly stated that any man in the ARVN with stars on his shoulders was a corrupt man.

    only 250,000 ARVN soildiers died (NOT 1,170,000).

    Communist North Vietnam lost 1.5 million soldiers.

    That's a ratio of 1 to 6.
