But since you concede that they actually DO accomplish stuff in the original, I don't see how you think this is parody.

For opening the letter you need to slowly peel from one side but you must keep the steam going into every freshly exposed part. A cup of hot water might work better so you don't burn yourself as you keep the envelope close to the steam. I know this works because I used to do this all the time!
