What no Zoning laws? you cant have a fireworks factory in a residential neighborhood in the US.

@dest101101 It was a permit fail, they stored 2,5 tons more fireworks then was permitted.

It use to be a small storage, only one container. but they had 14 containers filled with heavy stuff. the proffesional fireworks.

If just the one permitted container was there and blew up, it would just been some cracked windows, some smoke a bad smell aroud town. If the fire department knew about the overload of explosive material, they already had evacuated the area.

@87Jaws @87Jaws i lived their at that time(may 2000). This city called Enschede in the east of Holland. Nobody expected this, officially 23 people died at that explosion, 1000 wounded and a whole neighborhood vanished as you see.

It was a beautiful sunny day and nearly everyone was outside if it would be bad weather many more people would ve been killed.
