In the novel Dian wei fought xu zhu and cao cao was impressed by xu zhus skills.... then Dian wei becomes friends with xu zhu.Then after the death of Dian wei , Xu zhu takes Dian weis place and becomes cao caos new body guard.After cao cao death he becomes the body guard of cao pi.
